I tend to prefer the syntax employed by Lua. But that's just me.

If Tcl/Tk is what makes it in, then, I will support that as well!

Any scripting language is going to be better than none. :D

What makes a slayer better than an arrow, then?

They are the same weight, and both use the SHOOT_ARROW attack method.

Or is the answer that a slayer is really not better than an arrow, and it's all a psychological trick?

Both 24 and 32 bit modes show the black lines. :(

As I mentioned before, loading a 256-color bitmap and using it causes the black lines to not appear. It only happens when I use truecolor bitmaps, at least when I load my own graphics sets.

I don't know if that helps. :)

It happens all the time. I don't see how this would be a graphics card problem-- I'm assuming your scaling algorithm just manipulates main memory and the graphics card's only job is to display the results. If you're doing anything that tries to read VRAM you're just asking for trouble. It's not at a...

I cloned a falchion, replaced all of its graphics with custom bitmaps, and then tried to change CHOP to THRUST. It seemed to work, so I saved, quit, and reloaded. When I went back into the editor, THRUST had changed back to CHOP. I tried this again and it changed it back again. Maybe the presence of...

Ok, I've posted a screenshot of the problem here: http://www.ojnk.net/dm/glitch.png This glitch shows up at a variety of graphics settings, including AUTO. Setting 16 rather than 24 makes this go away, but the title screen becomes quite ugly, as the background areas around "DUNGEON" and &q...

I would silently change any reference to a bad object to a NULL.

This would leave the relay intact, but pointing at nothing, just as before, only not in a state that will cause a crash :)

Change attack power?

I'm not sure how RTC internally calculates the damage done by a weapon, but I get the idea that weapons do have some internal "attacking power" statistic. Perhaps this could be made viewable and editable in the next version? It'd help to get a more exact feel for the power of the different...

EDITOR: Cloned item attack methods not saved

It appears that if you clone an item with three of its own attack methods, and then try to change those methods, they are not saved. I got this while trying to clone a falchion, and change its attack methods. Oddly enough, it worked when I cloned an arrow, which only has two methods (throw and stab)...

GAME: Weird black lines in scaled images

This bug is so obvious, it really doesn't need a report, but I thought I would share something I noticed while working with scaled images-- it seems to only come up when I'm using 24-bit bitmaps. 256-color paletted images don't produce it.

I don't know if that helps at all. :)

It doesn't really let you use the door as a weapon, either, in combination with your other attacks-- by the time I've shut the door and gone over to click on my weapon attack icons, the monster has already fled.

Using a utility like diff helps a lot. The original author always has every right to reject changes that are too drastic, bizarre, or difficult to integrate, anyway. It's not some "magical thing," but it is, in my opinion anyway, a pretty good development model for projects that have devel...

I've wondered about it being open source as well. It was obviously started as a personal project, but, having developed such a large community following, projects often change focus in that regard. To be blunt, there is no commercial value to be had in RTC (so no risk of it being usurped, really), a...

Um, what's complicated about it? I think perhaps complicated was not the word you were looking for. Complicated is trying to run a country or design a big project. Case ii is slightly more complicated because it has to be decided if there is to be a fall-through case if a hand is not available, and what it should be: For example, potions will fail, but ZoKathRa falls through to case iii. Of course, something like this could be done fairly niftily with scriptin...

There is a lot in RTC that would be very hard to port to CSBwin, just as any CSBwin dungeon making heavy use of DSAs would be very hard to port to RTC.

I also really like the .txt file. I was able to create some very complex effects by writing small programs that automatically generated large numbers of triggers, that I then pasted into my dungeon file. It's the second best thing to scripting, of course. To combine this with true scripting, of cour...
