If you want two decent tanks for DM go with Sonja Shedevil and Stamm Bladecaster. Both start with decent weapons and Stamm comes with armor, good armor. Gothmog and Mophus should round that party out nicely.
I've always felt that there is one major drawback to DM. That is the ninja class. The only ...

Re: This game is awesome (a new player's perspectve)
How about stupid deaths? For me, it usually happened like this
Yay, I killed the dragon, now to rest and regain health and mana before the final assault on Chaos. I'm done playing for now. Preps two Mon fireballs. Turns towards the wall and cast both. Party dies. Turn off game.

Multi-Developer Dungeon
I had an idea for a multi-developer dungeon. Trouble is, I don't have enough time to work on my first official dungeon, let alone start a new one. I did a minor one with only three Vi altars throughout the entire dungeon on levels 1,7 and 14.

I use the mouse for everything except movement. Maybe you could try upping your mouse sensitivity.

Re: This game is awesome (a new player's perspectve)
When the game was released it was on a single 3 1/4 floppy disk that totaled just over 1 meg. Granted in '87 1 meg was massive, but think how precise the codes had to be to make the game work and look as good as it did. Unlike today, game developers back then had to code extremely tight.

Re: So, tell us about yourself...
RTC is the clone I would consider using. I think it would be best to use the same progression, in skill level, armor and weapons, as the original game. Yes, knowing a little ahead of time would help, but that defeats the purpose. It is meant to be a challenge to the player, not easy.

Re: So, tell us about yourself...
I didn't like DMute much. The game seemed too sloppy, for me, in both look and gameplay.
The way I had envisioned a multi-developer dungeon was like this.
The story is basic. Go in and kill the bad guy.
One person would develop levels 1-3, the hall of champions would remain untouched.

Re: OOC thread!
We would use hit locations on any creature that could be broken down into the same basic five percentage ranges as humanoids. A dragon still has four limbs a torso and a head, just like the common cow. Two arms and two legs amount to the same as four legs.

Re: OOC thread!
I'm an AD&D 2ed player. We set out our own critical hit chart.
A natural 20 was an automatic hit, as it should be. Then we would roll the d20 a second time to determine whether or not it was a critical hit.
1-5 was no extra damage
6-16 was double damage
17-19 was triple damage
20 was instant kill on ...

I remember reading the way of the tiger series, I just don't remember much from it. What, with me aging and all that.

Re: Photoshop Cleanups of Fighting Fantasy covers
Way of the tiger? Was that the series about a ninja/samurai, i think, and some sort of green gem? A portal that led to earth?

Re: Photoshop Cleanups of Fighting Fantasy covers
Ha. I stole my pseudonym from the Fighting Fantasy series, Lord Balthus Dire of Craggen Rock. Been using it ever since Citadel Of Chaos.
Deathtrap Dungeon, Trial Of Champions, Forest Of Doom and City Of Thieves were, in my opinion, the best books they ever written for that series.

Re: So, tell us about yourself...
Jan, I'd like to finish the dungeon. Unfortunately, my computer literacy is very limited. Half of the things I'd like to do for the dungeon I have no idea how to. Sure, I can muck about and change the basics of the game, but anything more in depth than that and I'm lost.

Snes and RTC. I've downloaded all the RTC dungeons. Sadly I don't own an amiga anymore.
I still remember my first encounter with the ghost. I'll just hide behind this door and sleep so I can get my health and mana back. Raaaaaaaaah, Sonja dies. Whaaa??

Hello all. I'm a loooooooong time lurker of this site and have decide to make myself known to those here.
Been playing DM and all it's clones since the release of the game in '87. I still have my GOR coin from CSB, somewhere, in some box.
