Yea, it's level 5, HOC is level 0, or not counted as a level at all to me, nothing to fight, so it's a "free" level. To me HOC is just a nifty way to include "Character Selection"
I just tried it today, and whacked a floating eye for 22 damage, apparently I was having an EXTREMELY bad stroke of luck ...

Nope, level 4, the one where you first get the floating eyes (Beholders in D&D terms)

I'm on level 4, no matter what I do, I can't hit anything.
The Floating Eyes slaughter me.
