The Horn of Fear and Warcry had audio. "YEE-AAH!"
Later versions of the Amiga also allowed you to drink directly from the water fountains and you could tap the walls to detect illusions.

Re: Your favourite armour/weapon/misc. items setup?

Actually the DE's actions are Stab, Chop, and Cleave. Which incidentally is the major drawback to the DE, it's actions all have basically the same combat strength. Stab is faster than Chop but has a defense penalty. I'm actually not sure what the point of having Cleave on the same weapon as Chop, it...

Re: Your favourite armour/weapon/misc. items setup?

The Inquisitor is slightly better at a more hit and run style of combat because it has the stronger Thrust and Berzerk actions. In a more close combat situation, the Diamond Edge's higher efficiency tends to win out(also when you're trying to fight your way out of a situation there's something unset...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

I actually used that area(because there's also a water fountain nearby) initially, but the worms eventually stopped respawning.

Re: Quite Stuck

I guess there aren't any stone giants in the DDD area anyway. They should have added a ' constantly regenerating giggler' situation to the DDD area. Now THAT would have made the place a challenge. especially the RTC version of gigglers, those things steal items from both hands, I'm not sure a...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

I thought I'd outline my training loop(don't really have an "area" exactly) that I've worked out for any interested people or for suggestions to make it better or point out something I've missed. This being CSB it takes some set up and is more complicated than anything in DM. It requires g...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

I found training in the prison dealt with some of the early reincarnation issues. If you grab Storm at the beginning you can even spend some time training in the first room by respawning the worms. Of course I can only speak for the Amiga version not to mention I tend to use four champions.

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

I think there's an unlimited worm spawner on the topmost level of the dungeon as well. I'm not 100% sure, but I think removing the Dragon Fang from a nearby alcove activates it. I don't know if there's a limit to the number of worms that can spawn, or what triggers more to spawn once they start doi...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

None of the trigger spots shown on the maps seem to be working. I'm guessing the dragon one is on a long timer, but I can't figure the worms ones out.

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

Any chance the dragon area does this? (The area with a number of gates and rooms, just loaded with our 'dragon steak' friends) One respawned at least once, but I'm not sure how to trigger it. I only found him after leaving Ku and coming back through the DDD. Which of the bottom worm rooms respawn? ...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

Finding a respawning monster group doesn't seem that difficult(according to DMweb just about every monster has a generator somewhere). The trick seems to be finding one that has easy access to a water source, food supply, and safe area. And while I've got your attention, where are the damn flasks i...

Reincarnation vs. importation

Against my better judgment, I'm thinking of starting a CSB game in WinUAE. I'm wondering if it's better in the long run in terms of statistics to reincarnate CSB characters or just import my DM characters. I mentioned in a DM thread that I'm a compulsive level grinder so my Champions are pretty jack...

Some miscellaneous questions that have piled up

So I'm nearing the end of the game and I'm looking for some answers to a few lingering questions(for those of you that read my Early Inquisitor post I went ahead and took the RA key and cleared out level 6[7] though I stopped short of snagging the Master Key, and I opened up the second express stair...

Early Inquisitor and a few other questions

I've just arrived at level 11[12] and I'm toying with the idea of just taking the Ra key(I think you only need to fight two Animated Armors and a Materializer to get to it) and going back to the Tomb of the Firestaff. If memory serves me correct I can get pretty much everything on that level except ...

Amiga 2.0 Gigglers

I've been playing DM on an Amiga emulator(unfortunately I didn't know about this forum until after I'd invested a significant amount of time into the game or I might have gone with some of the other recommended playing options) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if Gigglers just steal out of your rea...

Re: The Dumbest way I died...

Heh, thanks :) I probably didn't think of going back up at the time because DM was one of the first RPG-type games I played so the concept of being able to go back a to level I had "finished" in a video game was still slightly odd to me. I got over it while running up for water from level ...

Re: The Dumbest way I died...

One time some bad luck and a little mistake on level 2 in DM led to a chain of events that forced me to completely restart the game two levels later. I had a resurrected party of Hissssa, Zed, Wuuf, and Gothmog and was fighting the group of mummies that are past the big room where you get the first ...
