Re: DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

Thanks for testing.
Yes, same thing for new texts .. I'll look better on that.
For the list of square types, it was something unfinished. Logically, it should allow to change/edit the basic tile. (The door types is a side effect of uncontrolled object reference => null = 0000 => item 0 of category 0 ...

Re: DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

I have updated DMBuilder 0.88.
-> text edition ok for stamina (and fixed another issue about misplaced values)
-> scroll text selection fixed + adjusted selectable bit (scroll open vs scroll closed) + DM2 scroll management (dungeon text vs. graphics.dat text)

a bug, it is changing the scroll "type" instead of the text reference. I'll fix that.

SKWIN-2026

In the path to reach better stability for Skwin, I started around end of 2024 a new code organization for more portability.
As a result, Skwin can now use SDL2 for gfx/sfx which allows a Linux version, and I used direct mem/video for a DOS version (playable through DOSBox).
I was stuck for a long ...

Re: Freedungeon

ok I understand about the free software. Then you need to replace quite everything. Is your clone supposed to be compatible with original DM ? or are you making your own "game", more like Dungeon Master Java did years ago ?
Anyway, feel free to ask, I'm interested to see your project going forward :)

Re: Freedungeon

Hi gusnan, there are some free clones around here, but that's always nice to see someone starting such project.
I appreciate that you did get appropriate side walls regarding the brick sizes.
Is this coded in Lua as base language ?
What would be your objective(s) with this clone ?

Re: Does anyone use lightning bolts?

In my previous post I described the effects of Fireballs and Lightning Bolts on creatures. In this case attack types like 'Blunt' or 'Fire' are not being used in the source code, I only used these terms for clarity.
Damage from the collision is not decreased by fire resistance of the creature ...

Re: Does anyone use lightning bolts?

I ran a little experiment. Lightning bolts are more effective on stone golems and animated armors. Using a master wizard champion, it took me around 100 fireballs to kill a stone golem vs. 16 lightning bolts. Against one low HP animated armor, it was ~20 fireballs vs. 6 lightning bolts. However ...

Have you tried playing this Amiga demo to check if that's the one you remember?

I don't know how this demo was distributed.

I discover this Amiga demo dungeon ... so here is the map :

Re: DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

I have updated DMBuilder into v0.88.g2 which can load (95%) dungeons from TQ US files (TQUS19.iso) (but not writting them back to TQ file)
I have put some documentation here for you to look : https://dmbuilder.sphenxmusics.fr/files/Theron's%20Quest%20Format.pdf .

Nice tool there; I would just point out the "total difficulty" value which seems to be the same as "total mana". From what I see, "difficulty" should be difficulty of spell + spell power.

Re: DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

I figured out again most of the map data stuff and I am currently integrating it into DMBuilder. And about the differences, it is because I forgot there are 2 versions of TQ (JP vs US) -- I don't know from which I did the conversions -- so I need to sort these things and make sure it works for both ...

OK this is weird, the conversions I did do not seem to match exactly what I see from TQ02.iso and I don't remember how I did this back then. Let me some time to collect my information and make some new tests.

Re: DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

I included with DMBuilder the original TQ's conversions for PC-DOS I did back then. But it can't edit directly into TQ's data. I have lost part of my notes from that time -- and it's a long time I did not try PC Engine emulation to test. Data were found in TQ02.iso and an actual dungeon is split in ...

DMBuilder version 0.88.g is out!

Probably nobody cares anymore about this old tool...
However, for what it's worth, I've put the current version I use as is -- with a few updates to make it more friendly, I hope (though the controls are still not those of your regular windows app) -- so that it can now edit quite almost everything ...

- v4.9a.doug for may 95
- v5.1 for july 95 (the one from oct. 95 is the same)
It seems the graphics.dat from jan. can't be (yet) opened ...

CSB Amiga has the magic map if it is what you refer to as a mini map.
Maybe there is a custom version of DM having the magic map.
