Re: Back to the source: ReDMCSB
Crikey, that's dedication. Is there any chance of a point release to scrape through?

Re: US presidential elections
There's a lot of people that lectured about how the markets would collapse if there was a Brexit, and most of the harm following the vote was arguably because of the predictions of doom and gloom from politicians and bankers. The markets have since rebounded. There were a lot of accusations that ...

Re: Would you pay for Dungeon master again?
The problem for me, is the temptation to "fix things". At some level, these older games can benefit from some work to relieve the frustrations that came as part and parcel. Like bugs, and interface issues. Or even horribly wrong game design decisions. But there's a possibility for each change to ...

Re: I can't play old games anymore
I can't play some old games, but it's not the graphics, it's the design decisions they chose which the people who made it popular by playing it (including myself), suffered through because all games had them. The bad controls, the extra loading to sit through because something was put in the middle ...

Re: Would you pay for Dungeon master again?
It depends on who gets the money. If it were original FTL developers who were core to the project, then yes. If it were some third party who never had much to do with the original game, then no. I have no interest in funding a Dungeon Master-like game through Dungeon Master sales. If the original ...

As an ex-Amiga user, I'm interested in looking over the source code of the Amiga versions you did. I see in the quora post by Doug Bell, you even did the PC version. Is there a v3 release coming?

Re: Town Travel with DM
Ever looked at the old SSI games like Pool of Radiance, or the old Bard's Tale games? Bard's Tale was quite painful, as to get from A to B in the town involved lots of tedium. the SSI games however I think did it quite well.

There's an episode of the Outer Limits about this, where it goes wrong.Ameena wrote:I wasn't really referring to a spiritual side of it, more that if you teleport by being broken down and reassembled, is the original version of you then "dead" and is the teleported version then technically a clone?

Re: Help on programing a DM game
Thanks All, I'll keep chipping away. I'm trying to use all the original data and program it as close to the original as I can using similar methods from the data I can capture. I know a lot of people where not kean on Bloodwych but trying to recreate what these guys did it shows you really how ...

Re: DM - not real 3D
No, that's still 2D. 3D would be if there were pits you could move the camera to look down, or up to the next level.
This sort of game used to be called 2.5D, but I don't hear that any more.

Re: Help on programing a DM game
There is definitely an Amiga Shopper issue which had a thorough tutorial (and maybe implemented it with AMOS - not sure on that). It was what I based my version on. I think I've got a Python version somewhere if you want it. As all the issues are scanned and online, there's no reason you can't find ...

Thanks for the update anyway. It's been decades since I played DM, interesting that 644 (fireball) was easy to remember.

Re: [DSB] Chaos Hack - a random dungeon generator
This (kaypy's Jan 14 release) doesn't work for me, with the latest version of DSB (0.6). It gets lots of errors in the log along the lines of :
LUA ERROR: ...ngeon Strikes Back\dsb60\chaoshack_redux/startup.lua:1252: dsb_fetch requires int in param 3
The call to dsb_fetch uses variables that do ...
