I'm sorry that I made you waste your time with these disk images. I thought emulation of the copy protection would be fine with them.


I did manage to finish CSB using real harware and the disk images you provided.

Wrote them back to real disks and used my trusty old 1988 Rev. 5 A500 0,5/0,5 ...

First and foremost, please state the exact platform and version you're fiddling with.

Second, this is a CSB issue not DM.

RTC looks, feels and even smells like the original.
BUT it´s not, It´s a complete re-write. "Close but no cigar", as you might say.

If you want the TRUE experience, your choices are:

CSBwin
Emulation
Real hardware & software

All are readily available @ dmweb.free.fr
(Except the real hardware...)

@ChristopheF Thanks for your comment, although I tried running it in dosbox on a Mac and had the exact same issue with it not responding to mouse clicks. Perhaps one of the game files is corrupted?


It doesnt matter, whether your using a mac or linux system while using DOSBOX.

Getting my Amiga MOJO back again...

All I find after extensive search are versions 1.4 and 1.5 RTC ones.
They somewhat work, but character portraits are all screwed up.

I remember 1.3 (and earlier) working for amiga versions of DM/CSB quite nicely, being system friendlier.

This is a longshot, BUT ...

After the very first time I´ve always ran solo.
Reincarnated Gothmog (renamed) is usually my GO-TO guy. Decent Mana at the start and W/ some training he´s a real killer by level 8 or so.

The dark Darth-Vader:ish appeariance is also a PLUS.

DM2 is too damn easy...

I actually bought it for my Amiga when it first came out, BUT couldn´t run it since it needed a 020 CPU or 2 megs of chip RAM or HDD...
Few years later I got a WAREZ CD /W DM2 for my then fancy PC and finished it in one evening.

Bit of a let down, really.

I plugged a joystick /W autofire in the mouse port on my Amiga back in the day. Went out for a beer or something AAAND instant (something) master...

Total respect!!!

Keys of B do offer an alternative route to Ful Ya pit. One of them at least.

The CRT low resolution was adding to the pictures anti aliasing that had been mostly well executed.
One feel you will never simulate is the not so good mouse with it's crummy roller ball. A sort of lag or inaccuracy, some small play with hysteresis.

I recently reincarnated my old trusty friend from 1987. What´s the first thing to do? Beat CSB obviously...

Only ever used Plague to complete the dungeon. MAYBE Deth here and there for a test run. Halk Gonzo Barbarian too.

Only certain weapon actions will break a door such as chop and berserk, things like stab and cleave don't work.

Recently set up some real Amiga hardware for the first time in... 25+ or so years.
