Hah, same! We didn't even realize the first symbol was power, so we'd write these long list of different combinations that we'd tried. It's not much of a copy protection against kids with way too much free time, that's for sure.

Really cool video! You mention the disk copy protection in the original game, one thing that didn't dawn on me until 20 years later is that the magic system actually acts as a soft copy protection too. There's a custom dungeon for RTC called Surgical Strike (by our very own Siophia) that pays homage to that fake location on the back of the box. It's an inspired puzzle, and gave me such nostalgia chills when I found it in her dungeon. 😀
