I've been distracted lately so did not see your resolution post. I'm unclear how I could have gotten a cloned anything since I'm not trying any 'hacks' or cheats with this game.
Thanks for taking the time to analyze my issue. I persuaded myself to launch a new game trying for a two hero team ...

Re: Back Again
I found that if I had patience, any giggler who once stole something returned sooner or later, stood in front of me so I was able to croak it and thus retrieve the article. I also found that not openly carrying anything valuable was the way to run about in the large room since I don't seem to have ...

Re: Back Again
I did save and saved again a few time even today. I'd be happy to send the file to you but can't see a mechanism for doing so. I'm inclined to accept this as a push to re-start with a two champ team as I toyed with a few days ago.

Re: Back Again
Good information at that link. Thanks.
I'm having an issue I didn't have my previous time around. The game's freezing completely requiring me to kill the DOS Box program. This started on the large room with the gigglers although it doesn't seem to be linked to any particular event. I do random ...

Re: Back Again
Thanks again all for the tips and advice. I had no idea the game has such endurance that some folks are often repeat players. Then again, I seem to be a bit hooked myself after having started the game as a lark intending on at most, an hour or two of play.

Re: Back Again
I'm bouncing between levels three and four. I explore four some but then retreat to three to hone my skills in the angry cabbage and purple worm regeneration rooms. Yes, I'm playing my avatar as a solo. I'm currently, IIRC, artisan wizard and ninja, adept fighter and craftsman priest. I'm going to ...

Hello All,

IIRC, I played all the way through failing at the final battle/trapping but remained enthusiastic overall at the adventure.

Re: Trying An Old One
Thanks, Ameena. If I plan on continuing in the game arena, I'll try for Discord. I'll also look for that CSBWin if I go on.

Re: Trying An Old One
Thanks for the good wishes. I am hopeful of a full recovery and am already much better than I was pre-surgery so I account things a success already.
Good tip on training. I did have difficulty with the rats on my solo go. I think I posted having to play the game using my left hand across my body ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I see now it's been a whole month since I was here. The surgery went well but was much more complex and far reaching than I anticipated leaving me in for a more difficult recovery that describes a very shallow slope.

Re: Trying An Old One
Hi All
Sorry for my absence and lack of response. I'm considering replaying the game with, if not a team, at least a team member such as Jay's avatar. I think the combination of such a fighter is worthwhile. He'll (she'll?) need a good deal of training in the magic area just as Tiggy did in ...

Re: Trying An Old One
Spell Vines...that's what I've been calling mollusks because my first take was a floating octopus. I can't say where I got overwhelmed because as things started to fall apart for me, I did my panic run away that has not only served me well as an escape but also has had me discover items or places I ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I haven't a good idea how to proceed aside from trying again. After dispatching another two crabs (I don't see them as spiders) and two more knights, I ended up surrounded by crabs and mollusks with no possibility of escape.

Re: Trying An Old One
I got filled with ambition so decided to take on the balance of the stone golems. I did find a strategy that worked. One came from a room on the way to the stairs that connect to the skeleton passage. That one took a long time. The next two I lured into that room and stepped them but added tossing ...

Re: Trying An Old One
Even at my current levels, I can't stand in front of most and bash away. The few I can think of are the trees, the green things with red eyes and skeletons. Even the latter will deal me some serious damage if I'm standing there doing a toe to toe.

Re: Trying An Old One
Oh, I didn't entirely follow the loss of defense discussion. Perhaps it'll make sense to me later on. Since standing in front of enemies bashing away isn't my style, I'm unsure how much it affects me.

Re: Trying An Old One
Little to report aside from fatigue.
This level has, at least for me, greater tension than any other I can recall. I ended up spending more time on the level with the backward puzzle rooms after finding another cross key in the vending machine area, I decided to backtrack to see what was behind ...

I'll keep that in mind, Ameena. Right now agenda is fully booked with DM.

Re: Trying An Old One
Good to read that I'm not alone in having rambled about that area finally exiting but not knowing how I did it. I haven't returned to the game today due to real world obligations that may end later on. There are several areas of this game where I ran in a panic or randomly ending up where I should ...

Re: Trying An Old One
Thanks all. I’ll keep the spoilers covered hoping I can work things out for myself. I’m concerned about spoiling dulling the game for me. I’ll return here to uncover them if I feel I’m stuck. I’ve divested myself of a sword and an ax so I’ll rely on another ax I picked up recently. I’ve retained the ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I have progressed down to a level where the chief antagonist is what I took for a crustacean but later I decided is a giant arachnid. I didn’t look it up in the Wiki because whatever it is makes the rats look tame. I note some are referring to my PC as a she. I’m surprised.

Re: Trying An Old One
Paul Stevens is correct. I looked at the Wiki. What I called a dragon was in fact, a couatl. It startled me in the room with the opening/closing floor hatches to the point I stepped poorly falling to my death. I posted my last note after I'd made it back to the worm reproduction area. After all that ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I feel a bit more optimistic after my session today.
I grew determined to locate that compass to the point I was unwilling to proceed without it or a maximum effort at re-locating it. I managed to make it up to L3 or the worm level (not lampreys). I wasn’t able to think of a cogent method for ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I wanted the skeleton key to open the passage so I could go up to the Rainbow Door level and open the other rainbow door. I felt it was blind luck and my fumbling about that got me to here at this level (L8) so I had no thought I could navigate back to the upstairs from here. I know I encountered ...

Re: Trying An Old One
I think I came to the two step business on my own out of necessity. I found my PC was unable to stand in front of anything but the aggressive tree stumps for long enough to dispatch them.

Trying An Old One

I have a former boss who in the very old days was highly active in the Atari 8 bit community. He still does both hardware hacking and general whatever ...
