Firebird totally rocks. I see a bright future for that product.

I am using 0.6.1 now because for some reason 0.7 is slow to draw on my newly upgraded machine. I think it has to do with me running on an old PCI video card, which will soon be replaced. The strange thing is that 0.6.1 is fast.

How much of this stuff should be part of the configuration of a dungeon vs. option in the player's own configuration file? With the UI graphics, it may be best as a player option, but with the walls/monsters/etc. it becomes more tricky.

removing party members

How about a feature to remove a party member -- perhaps just temporarily (back to the mirror) -- thus enabling you to pick up another champion. Lots of dungeon ideas come to mind here: - hired thugs - areas that can only be completed with one champion - an area that only allows females to enter (The...

I live in Ottawa now, but from Niagara Falls originally. There were lots of BBS in Niagara Region back in the 80s. Toronto had the greatest number by far, but that was long distance (very expensive back then).

I had a similar problem running Win2K. In my case, I can load RTC from double-clicking the .exe file in the folder, but not from the shortcut on the start menu. I cannot explain why launching via the shortcut would be any different. I meant to try to debug it, but there is way too much to do these d...

stuck in Reactor (spoiler)

Has anyone played Sophia's Reactor for RTC? Great dungeon so far, but I am stuck now! I have searched everywhere for another key, but I cannot find one. (I don't have access to the game from this computer, so please bear with me because this is from memory...) - I do not have the winged key to get t...

I have had all good experience with eBay. I think it is great. For payments, you have to agree with the seller on a method. There are money orders and COD of course. For credit card, there are several online payment services (e.g. PayPal, which is now integrated into eBay's system). Payment services...

I am not clear from reading the postings. What exactly is the penalty for using the Altar? I used it quite a lot in RTC (Reactor, I think) before realizing that one of my characters' maximum health was being reduced. It was a vicious circle because he continued to be the first and easiest to die. I ...

... In addition, you can do what I often do anyway, when you have more than 5 arrows and slayers: make a pile at your feet of the remainder. Then, when the quiver is empty, you pick up an arrow from the top of the pile and drop it in the left hand of the person using the bow/crossbow and click &quo...

Regarding point #2:
On the Amiga versions of DM and CSB -- at least the ones I had -- the water graphic changed to an empty waterskin only when completely empty. So RTC is accurate from my experience.

Firestaff with Power Gem loophole

I am new here. You probably all know this, but here it goes... Years ago when I first completed DM for Amiga, I discovered a loophole in the game. Normally once you obtain the Power Gem charged Firestaff, the two paths up from the bottom two levels are blocked. You can hear a click as this is trigge...

DME has Pat Mullen's "Maps, Lists and Answers for Chaos Strikes Back". I just looked through the entire thing. This looks completely different, based on the sample pages from the advertisment. The one I am talking about appears offical, from FTL.

Re: Best part of playing CSB (don't read if not playe

You know, the maze of secret doors with DRAGONS in it is much easier on the Amiga version with both KU and ROS magic map spells enagaged. My younger brother used to get so scared when I would play DM, but he loved to watch me play! (The stereo sound on the Amiga version was amazing in its day...

CSB Strategy Guide

Way back when I bought CSB for Amiga, in the box was advertisement for a strategy guide. I don't remember the exact title of the book. I never ordered it, but I always wish I did! Does anyone else know what book I am talking about? Did anyone ever get ahold of it? Is there an online posting anywhere...
