Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

I can't remember where I stole the idea from... it was some game. Probably Bane. The difference with Bane though it is played in phased time, so the spells could work different. Maybe items should be banished as well: it'll make you think twice about using it then! Again another good reason why we h...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

Shows how often I play DM2. I have not played it since I had it on my Amiga 4000 (now that WAS a great machine) many years ago. I will try and get it to work on the PC but I remember it as being far too easy, but fun.

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

Hey Chris, 'great minds think alike....' I had read your spells, but forgotten them. Sorry! Yes the Vi water/ice complication. I suppose we are running into the limitations of this system. We could change OH EW ROS to OH IR ROS I suppose. Get our own backs on the gigglers. Though I prefer to hit the...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

Hi Sophia, This is going to go on for a long time methinks! It is not about making the dungeon 'harder', or 'easier' but different to allow new dungeon designers to implement new techniques and puzzles into their game. There are about 15 or so add on dungeons currently, all enjoyable in their own wa...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

A few raw ideas: OH EW ROS - STEAL: a random item from an enemy is stolen, if they carry any. FUL KATH RA - MINE: lay the mine, and when an enemy steps on it it explodes. YA IR ROS - MAGIC MISSILE: such as a magic arrow, or bolt that damages certain monsters. OH KATH - SONIC BOOM: another offensive ...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

A few quotes from Sophia: "And global spell additions would put people who chose not to accept them at a disadvantage" "It forces people to learn them new spells" If say new spells are added to existing dungeons, then the existing dungeon becomes new, not neccasarily easier, hard...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

The film making/work of art analogy is interesting. This has happened to a lot of films though, remakes sequals etc. Paintings are a little different as they are static. If you were to alter it to your preferences, it means you must have a copy BUT the original will still be there... Another analogy...

And I am right!

Only joking! As long as people enjoy the game, that is what matters, and this thread has been entertaining anyway.

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

I have not lost half my life playing DM, just a third of it... Seriously though, even if you only play it a few times a year for 17 (oops 15, er well that'll be 14 actually with a few months if you are correct) you will exhaust it quickly. I certainly don't spend hours every day playing DM but I hav...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

I believe I have 'truly exhausted' the original DM dungeon (heck, I can do it in an hour using Gando) but not the potential of its structure. Yes you can create new dungeons, with the same old feel and a lot of them are very enjoyable to play but I believe that some of us may be able to gain more fr...

Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

Oh and while I am at it, would it be possible to create new weapons, ie ninja only ones? (such as an attack from a weapon). Re: Anyone interessed in adding spells?

The original game will ALWAYS be remembered for how it was. It is 17 years old, and if creating new spells adds variety for older players or more interest to others then 'I'm all for it'. You don't HAVE to play any modified versions. Well that's exactly what you do when you download a new dungeon or...

Re: The best team for you?

I agree with the choice of Hawk, he is a good character, especially with his high stamina. People who lose stamina/have low stamina annoy me due to the way I play the game. This is why I only usually take one or two characters, as I eventually find the back two too weak and hinder my progress. Train...

I do not practice sword play, I bought the item for decorative purposes. However the steel is of very high quality and has been used in the past for show fighting but is poorly balanced. It hangs on the wall at my Dad's house.

It seems that a lot of DM fans own weapons. I have a 5ft claymore, which possibly isn't the best combat sword as I can hardly lift it.

Yeah 4 weeks is a bit short, the current one is taking ages. Anybody know why the Grey Lord's graphics distort on level 14, then crashes the game? Can he only 'exist' on level 13. Thanks.
PS he is the only monster on the level.
