Re: Important Items to Keep With You Instead of Discarding.
My maps were built with the PC version, not the SNES where there are many differences as you have discovered. You may check the maps here (they are not perfect either, these are images extracted from the game itself, but still not accurate compared to the actual dungeon): http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=nod...

Re: Maximum stamina gained at level up?
Actually, the skill level numbers on http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/691 were wrong (I just fixed them). When you are Neophyte, you are actually level 2 internally. So you gain 2 + Min(Random(4), 1) which has 3/4 chances of resulting in a 3 mana points increase, and 1/4 chance of a 2 mana points increa...

in the IIGS version they can grab from the upper-left slot in your backpack if you have nothing in hand, and they move on to the first occupied slot if you leave that blank too The source code tells this is not true. Re: "Extra Weight" Bug in SNES Version of Dungeon Master.
There is no way in the game to fix this issue. You would need to fix the saved game data. On a real SNES, it would probably be possible to modify the Load value of each champion with the appropriate Game Genie / Pro Action Replay cheat codes. If playing with a SNES emulator, you can also edit the sa...

Re: "Extra Weight" Bug in SNES Version of Dungeon Master.
This bug is present in all versions of DM and CSB: If you save the game with an object in the leader hand then when you resume or restart the game the weight of the object in the leader hand is permanently added to the load of the leader. When the game is saved, the weight of the leader hand object ...

Sorry I did not notice the duplicate files "PC German" and "PC EnglishJewelCase". I was not aware of two PC-9821 versions! I only have the newer one (4.0.1). Do you have a full CD image of the first release? Where does it come from? Are there also differences in the program or du...

Re: Best way to level?
If your Wizard casts only fireballs, he would get base wizard XP = Fire XP = 32000 XP, and Air = Earth = Water = 0. For hidden skills, the skill level is computed from the average of the hidden skill XP and the base wizard XP: Fire level = (32000 + 32000) / 2 = 32000 = Adept level Air/Earth/Water = ...

There is also an easy way to play the PC version of DM with the DosBox emulator. It supports full screen.

Another possible fix for a future release of DM2GDED: There are 6 images in DM2 FM-Towns GRAPHICS.DAT that DM2GDED fails to decode, as Kentaro noted here (MEMO2): http://kkdf2.sakura.ne.jp/danmasu-lj/Contrib_12/index.htm These are items 1788, 1789, 1790 and 2142, 2143, 2144, which are images for wal...

You can grab the files here: http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/PC9801DemoData.7z
DM2GDED (Rev10 that is part of skproject 2016-12-31) opens the full PC-9801 data file fine, the issue is only with the demo PC-9801 data file.

I looked at the source code again, and I have added some details here: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/691 Experience in a base skill may be greater than the sum of experience in hidden skills (a few actions grant only base skill experience) To compute the skill level of a hidden skill, the game takes ...

I never used the Invisibility spell much. We'll all agree that the game is more about killing all the creatures on our path rather than sneaking around. Re: "Choose your door"
You can only take one of the two paths, there are no other Key of B in the dungeon that you could use to open both doors (without cheating of course with an editor).
You only lose 04 (15,31) Corn, Cheese
The other objects are elsewhere in the dungeon. 05 & 06 are creatures on the map, not objects.

Hi Bit,
Yes I would also be interested by packages of your ports of DM1 and DM2. If you can provide easy to use versions and their source code, I'll add the files (or links to them) in the Encyclopaedia.
Thanks!

It is true that you get experience for being hit by creatures. But you do not get any experience by bumping into walls, I checked in the source code (I'm talking about original versions of DM/CSB only, maybe that is different in some clones).
