Scan of german "CSB Champions Power Tipps"

Post by zoom »

Hi there,

I found this recently, and I thought to scan it in. Maybe sth. for the encyclopedia?
It is rather small.
This scan is a Power Tipp(translates as clues), from Power Play magazine.
I don´t know what year, unfortunately.
Since you could rip those tipps out of the magazine and I don´t have the magazine anywhere.
I guess my brother gave them to someone one day.

Anyways, I still got this tipp section here-
it describes the csb champions and comes with some introductory text.

note: MH - is Michael Hengst, this guy
did the german translation of the csb manual, so maybe he got some insight into mechanics.
what is interesting, is he talks about the stat change while reincarnating.
mainly csb champions would divide main stats by 4 and lose a "rounded" ten percent to e.g. Strength values
Therefore there are pencil marks, I recalculated and compared those. Could erase these and scan again..

it has some errors, e.g. strength is spelled incorrectly,
-probably on purpose- left out Kazai and the other hidden champion Lor
only ST for strength is given, no Vitality or Wisdom and so forth..

see for yourself

Power Tips
to collect chaos strikes back Atari ST

Choosing champions is of utmost importance: After all, you drag this party for duration of all the game around with you. If the good man does not know how to cast spells, you stand there cursing and angry because you did not take the right one. In the box, you see a list of all new Play figurines found in the "Prison" of Lord Chaos.
not only the names of the characters you find enclosed, but also all Skills and Character Abilities.

Who is not pleased with the described Abilities, may(just like in "Dungeon Master") not only "Resurect" but even more so "reincarnate" to give them Life. Unfortunately, the Figurines lose all upto this point learned Abilities and Half of accumulated Health, Stamina and Mana-Points. Of the other Values, like Strength and Dexterity there will be deducted a "round" ten percent. Obvious that the chance for survival with these meagre characters isn´t all that great; in exchange to that these will be considerably faster to level up. Better you just don´t mess around with the big Monsters.... mh

Name and RAce ..
everything else is self explanatory.
Hope you can make sth. of this translation.

The rules described are not fully accurate.
When reincarnating a champion, the following occurs in this order:
1. The champion can be renamed
2. All skills are reset to 0
3. (CSB only) The Health, Stamina and Mana values are divided by 2.
4. (CSB only) Each statistic except Luck is decreased by 1/8 of its value, with a minimum of 30
5. 12 additional points are added randomly to statistics (including Luck). This means that reincarnating the same champion several times will not always give exactly the same result.

ah, ok I thought I had checked the values
to be correct back in the amiga days
( reincarnate prison- champions) apparently not :)

I guess the people of the magazine needed money
at that time, so they spat out tips like this one..

Actually I've just found out that in the Amiga version, Health, Stamina and Mana are divided by 4 for some reason. In the Atari ST version and CSBWin they are indeed divided by 2.

You are correct.
In CSB Atari ST: Health, Stamina and Mana are divided by 2.
In all other CSB versions (Amiga, X68000, PC-9801 and FM-Towns): Health, Stamina and Mana are divided by 4.
