aw, but adding the 'h' will remove the nice proportion of the font.

maybe you can spell it KAOS? hehe.

All my thoughts about this picture seem to be falling apart!

me: nice touch having the blurred flag as if viewing the town in the distance
drake cough accidental
me (thinking): Interesting idea to use Caos, rather than Chaos, which would be confusing, or Kaos which would be a bit annoying.
drake: Argh! where's the 'h'!

It's still a picture of a town, right? : )

I say stay with Caos! Keep the font!
Oh, and I think it would be cool, if we can figure out this dynamic pictures thing, to have the town blur slighty when the mouse goes over the flag, and the flag come into focus.
May as well roll with a nice touch, even if it is accidental : )

it would be nice.. but how would we do that?? Flash anyone?.. :P I suppose we could do it with alternate images for them and have them snap.. but gradual would bog down 56k'ers

the Caos thing has got to go though

...depends how low you can go with the image and it still looking good..

Well, as a 56k'er I can test out cutting up the picture and trying a few alternate images for speed.

That's a point though, how many people browse on a 56k, and how many are using somehting else?

the user base here is pretty thin.. 1 or two people constitute a large %age of that.. :/

I think it's a good idea not to exclude anyone.. if everyone was a cable or DSL user I would be doing flash more or less all the way..

yay

so I fixed the Chaos\caos thing.. and I've redone the flag.. now comes the nitty gritty..

Figuring out the ways in which to activate the different items without actually using traditional rollovers.. anyone versed in Javascript enough to help us remotely activate images around the screen be creating a mouse collision overlay?

Aww, i miss the out of focus : )

The bottom of the flag hasn't been blended into the background, btw

What do you mean by traditional rollovers vs collision detection overlay? When I was asking my friend about the best way to do the translation of the flag for mouse positioning, and so forth, he seemed to think that the rollovers were the best way.

java scripted map

Post by cowsmanaut »

The Java scripted 2d collision map. I've seen it done on other boards where they have a whole image but it has parts sectioned off through java that aren't all rollovers infact they don't change but parts of the page elsewhere can. Which is what I want.. you move the mouse over one of the names and it then writes where it is and highlights the relevant part in the distance... the mountain, the tower, etc etc..

It's easy to do this... you just specify extra images to change elsewhere on the page with your rollover code. I'll send you an example when I get my home PC up and running again.
