Changes to Editing Posts.

Post by Gambit37 »

We're currently running experiments with the Edit facility, due to abuse of the feature. You now have 15 minutes to edit a post before it 'locks'. This should give you enough time to edit mistakes, typos, etc, but it will prevent you from going back later and making wholesale changes to your posts.

We'll monitor this over the next few weeks: If the inconvenience outweighs the abuse, the feature may be reinstated. Thanks for your understanding.

I understand a no edit on old posts. This is prone to create misunderstandings and at worst, questionnable behavior.
I wish editing and deleting allowed on the last post with no time limit.
Feel free to move my opinion to a new thread.

I understand that you want to reduce the abuse, but I also agree with Terkio, being able to edit the last post, at least over several hours, would be nice. Well, except if you prefer double/triple posts...
Also, no time limit for the first post of a topic, so the author can:
- update a custom dungeon/its description - same for other creations
- add the final solution to a problem there (e.g. in the dungeon editing forums), and add [solved] to the topic title as well - I wanted to do that

Sorry, I forgot to reply to the points that were raised here:

Terkio: The forum doesn't have that feature.
Igor: We don't have features that will allow those sorts of changes.

If there are reasons to change a post title after it's created, you can ask an Administrator to do this for you. The list of administrators is here: http://dungeon-master.com/forum/memberl ... de=leaders

Hi Gambit,
do you mean that whenever I want to upload a new version of Underworld Dreams I must create a new topic?

Gambit is no longer admin.
I had to change the link for The Trail, so I contacted Christophe via pm.
He changed it for me straight away.

I understand the reasons for the short edit time, but it is a bit of a pain in the arse.

Ok, thanks Saumun. In the future I'll update UD according to player suggestions. Maybe some riddles are too cryptic or some battles too hard (or too easy). I also found a possible dead end in a level, and I want to fix it.
