Second RTC dungeon available

Post by beowuuf »

Chiefy's dungeon has been uploaded to http://dmweb.free.fr/Forum/read.php?f=7&i=328&t=328
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

Re: Second RTC dungeon available

Post by Lunever »

Since I'm still gathering version information for the version list,

this time I really wonder what version the Chiefy Dungeon is made for.

I can open and start to play it in V0.22 to 0.24.

I can try to open it in V0.34 to V0.49, but it will crash. The versions I have between V.024 and V0.34 will not recognize it (though a couple of versions are missing).

Any idea what the proper version is?

Also - Chiefy, if you're still around, would you maybe be willing to provide the source files for backup purposes? Of course you'd still decide yourself whether they would be uploaded publicly or just backupped non-publicly.

The link above is broken, how did you get the file?

I would imagine this was created by hand given that the editor came out 8 months after this dungeon. So that would probably mean Chiefy used 0.23 or 0.24.

It was released with V0.24

I'll send you the entire fileset I have (I think I got more than the final smaller release...or I perhaps even packed the smaller release)

I'm currently working through the Encyclopaedia first, and the file is still there.

Simultaneous posting - still, you might want to check whether you have anything more recent than the Encyclopaedia files.

I know, that's what I tried to do since you always say that, twice through my gmail and I was spanked for it both times (first time it choked on itself half way through it's new attachment thing, whined about proxies and firewalls and asked if I wanted to use the old attachment method, where it chugged along until I got sick of it. Attached it in yahoo instead, where it then apparently got bounced back with some file type whine.

Anyway, as I should have done in the firts place and not waste half and hour last night, here's the link:

Hmm, thanks, still I'm a bit confused. Doesn't seem to contain the source file either.

What's the dm.exe for and what's the keyword?

The enterhere.exe seems just to be a RTC V0.24 exe, so I guess it is made for V0.24

It won't, I didn't say I had the sourcefile, I said I had the entire files that were to be distributed, that I think I created a smaller package for the DME with.

I don't recall what all the files are, I think chiefy created a whole playable package with the 0.24 engine (hence why I knew for certain it was the .24 engine). Yes, RTC,.exe is renamed enter here.exe

You don't get over 20,000 posts with a broken forum! Lunever was going through all the dungeons in 2010. So he was just necro-ing a seven year old post.

We've been here all this time. Many many dungeons and things to catch up on.

I can definitely guarantee you the forum was working during that time, I signed up for it in 2008 so it had to be up during that period otherwise I wouldn't be a member of this forum at all.

... and that would have been a travesty, on so many levels :P

If you have a copy of your .txt file rather than your .rtc file, the dungeon can be re-compiled for newer RTC versions.

That would be great, if it's possible. I'd love to try out your dungeon, chiefy, but since I have v0.49 of RTC that won't be possible without a recompile.

You can load an old .rtc into RTC 0.34's editor and it will load fine. You can then save that "decompiled" dungeon as a text file.
That's how I got a .txt for Reactor, anyway, which would've otherwise been lost. :)

What this will not do is extract any external graphical resources the dungeon may have used.

That's assuming I have RTC 0.34, which I don't. The only version I have is 0.49... Hopefully someone who does have the right version of RTC can do this or someone (ie beowuuf, chiefy) has the txt file and can recompile it for RTC 0.49.
