I am on the first level and have opened a gate with the cross key and killed the skeleton inside. Just along from there is another gate (portcullis) and through this I can see a further door. I can't work out how to get through the portcullis and have searched around for a switch and thrown objects through the gate without success.

Okay got passed it and now up a few levels.

I am stuck on the floor with lots of pits on. How do I open the doors behind the pits. I have a couple that were easy but some are not so obvious. Is Jan playing this one yet?

Jan
At least you will be able to ask me for hints as hopefully I will have finished it by the time you start. Mind you, at this time it could be a while yet.

Paul I have not yet succeeded in getting to the chest but have got to the door in the corner. I don't think you can actually reach it but when you have it open and you throw something through it its opens up other avenues. You actually need the
Spoiler
Zo scroll which is on this level
. I have got the key to the left side of the ornate door but haven't found the key to close the pit. I suspect, as you probably do, that its inside the chest. The other bit I am stuck on is when you go down a hidden corridor there is a portcullis with a lever outside, this opens/closes a pit inside. I can't however open the portcullis so don't know where this leads. So if anyone has progressed through this I would appreciate a hint.

Does that mean you can't open that door with the lever either?

Spoiler
The door with a pit - I managed to turn the pit into a pressure pad (with pit) - zo spell closed the door, allowing an item to be thrown to the pad which shut the pit. After that, am stuck as before, inc the door with lever

I like this dungeon very much.
I am much too slow at the "speed" puzzle. It seems hopeless to open 3 doors to reach the alcove before it closes.
Have you done it ?
Is the timing of such puzzles, machine dependent, depending of harware and system configuration ?

Generally,there is not difficult.
