Hi Triax...

I've been working for most of the day, or i'd have answered sooner.
You do indeed need two solid keys. They are both in the fireball area, but one is hard to spot due to the grey key/floor RTC thing (In future i should think about making a new bitmap for grey keys to make them easier to see).
Anyway...
Spoiler
One is in an alcove on the western wall of the fireball area (i assume this is the one you have), and the other is on the floor in the south of this area. It's a few paces east from the southwest corner.
Spoiler
Since you have two Vi Coins, you have all you need to get the rune from this area once you're through the second door (one coin removes the walls surrounding it, and the other removes the blue hazes).

Just signed up to beg for help!

I'm at the bit with the 4-way lightning haze, and the cross key doors. I cannot figure out the pit maze, I can get to the first switch, then across to the blinking pit in front of the corridor at the end, but then I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance peeps.

Thunderlyger...

No idea why I missed this post. Apologies for that.

If you haven't already done it, after you cross the blinking pit in the middle of the room you must
Spoiler
step right and then take a step back. Once the pits in front of you close, you can reach the exit... But watch the timing on the last pit.

I do have something new, but it will be in two parts.
Part 1 is not too far away from being finished, but is currently untested. May be another month or so. Part two is barely started.

It is good to know there is still some work going on. I have not tried those other dungeons Chaos Mirror, Dark reign 1 or 2.
Saumun, I'm here if you need some light testing, I have a little time to play with, life has been a challenge itself.

Thanks CS. I will bear that in mind, as I am hoping to get part 1 tested while getting part 2 built.
Time! Same problem... Don't have much of it, and can only work on stuff in short bursts.

Right, well don't I feel dumb. Started this yesterday and I'm finally stuck but it seems to be at a place where everybody passed easily because nobody mentioned it! I'm at the wall saying 'The Coward Will Hide'... everyone else seems to have got beyond this while I'm stuck throwing all kinds of stuff over the pit into the blue haze which I noticed appeared a short way backwards through the path, but also throwing stuff while the haze is off and I hear them hit a wall but nothing seems to happen. I don't know where the Oitu disappeared to after I think a red haze appeared beyond the pit, I haven't seen him since that initial encounter ages ago. I've gone down the pit, opened the button leading into the huge open room but just teleported back up. What on earth am I missing so easy? Haha

Nevermind, I got lucky launching fireballs while the blue haze was off and I guess the Oitu was there in the right spot because I had done that before to no effect. Onwards!

Oh dear, I seem to have reached The Hive doors with only 5 runes. I don't suppose anyone would be so kind as to point me in the direction of the DAIN tile, would they?

Oh sheesh... I'm mobile at the moment, so I'm going from memory.
I can't be sure which rune is where, but in the first part (western wing) there are two runes in the initial three paths at the start... One about halfway along the northern path and one near the end of the central path (close to the black door to the giant room).
There is another through a pit where you get one of the onyx keys.
The next is after a room full of spinners and teleports followed by shooter corridors, then scorpions.
After that, there is one after you go through the corridors using the mirror spell.
The last is where there was a green haze shooting lightning bolts (near the hive doors).

I've a strong feeling that dain is an early one, unfortunately.
I think it's the one in the central path from the start, but cannot be sure.

This first part is a bit of a pain to backtrack, but once you open the other wings, any backtracking becomes much easier as most parts are linked to long straight corridors that run most of the length of each part.

Thanks Saumun, I'll backtrack tonight after work. It's not the lightning bolt green haze one, pretty sure it's not the shooter corridor and the mirror spell one or even the onyx key pit one so I'm guessing right at the beginning!

Yes, the DAIN tile is near the start of the game.
From my maps.
First encountered tile is UM, second is DAIN, third is EE.

If I'm thinking of the right one, it's lying on the floor in a place where a lot of munchers are released.
As I said though, after this part any need to backtrack is much easier. In the other wings, not long after the start of each section there are linking corridors. In the hive too.
This was partly because the dungeon is so large, and partly because eventually you may need to backtrack for food.
You'll see why in the next part.

The version in the link at the top of the thread is the last update, CS.
I'd have liked to do another, but due to my own stupidity in not having the file backed-up, I lost it when my hard drive got frazzled.
Still have the drive, so if I ever get around to finding someone who can maybe get at the files, 1.8 is the last.
You never know though.

I am trying to help Claude out, his save games were v1.6, is this the last one? or is there v1.7? I copied his save games over but I don't see how to load them. If you like you can give him a hand.

No... The last one is version 1.8, and I lost all previous versions on the frazzled hard disk.
If I remember correctly CS, I think you were playing a very early one unless you started again. I can't remember for sure.
If Claude posts here or messages me, I'd be happy to answer any questions he has about the dungeon.

Ahh, I see. I have the original one still if you want it. Claude I think has 1.6 as that is what his save game reads.

I've entered the 4 coins, killed the vexirks and got another 4 coins... entered 3 of them but I'm stuck with one and none of the slots will accept it to turn off the haze in front of the ornate door. What am I missing? Are all the slots in the regenerating monster area?

There are eight slots for the coins.
Have you definitely tried them all?

Are they all in the regenerating monster area or is there one back towards the fireplace and alcove?

I will try to count the zokathras without being mobbed by the 7 or so materializers and demons :)

Nice going Lee.
Just a word of caution about casting zokathras.
The dungeon is packed almost to capacity at the start, and RTC can only contain so many objects before it crashes.
If too many objects are created, it will crash.

This being said... I remember looking at CS' savegame and he too had been casting zokathras without it causing a problem.
Whenever an object is removed (monster killed, food eaten, etc) it is taken off the count, so unless you go crazy creating hundreds of zokathras, there shouldn't be a problem.

I must have placed a 1000 or so zokathras, it was a very large map, lot of teleporting, very well done. It wasn't until I saw the map before I figured it out as a mental picture. Once I grasped that it was finish every zone. Couple spots where let's say, damn near impossible.

Probably something silly I'm missing here... 'Walk Quickly Back'... opened the wall, stepped on the pressure plate but I don't know what it's done and now running around backwards like a lunatic through the rest of the small area trying to open the door :)

Little hint please?
