Conflux III nods - potential minor spoilers
Incase you hadn't noticed, conflux is very referential to fantasy, other dungeons and even DM board members! Anyone got a reference they's spotted?

Things I've spotted (or had pointed out)
DM members nods:
Check worm rounds - a triple nod to a sucinum, one of his dungeons and the fantasy game Amber Moon!
I got one too - check out a character who may be associated to me...
Chistophe got an oblique one - there's a certain set of fountains on one of the monastary paths guarded by a golem
Pictures in the dark got one - anyone falled down a deadly pit chain?
Dungeon nods (cough rip offs?):
Not sure it counts, but the activation of CSB RA locks are also echoed alot in conflux
In Moria, PaulH's Tower of Chaos bridge has been recreated
An area of Mildew has reappeared (where the Kath bombs are)
The whole Gothmog's quest for the Balrogs is a continuation of Enfers
Two of the riddles in Moria are from Enfers
Fantasy nods:
LOTR: Moria (Gandalf's mark, Balin's tomb, Westgate, Smaug, Eye of Sauron, The Precious), Anduin, Gothmog and the Balrogs (Silmarilian)
FF: Sorcery (praying to libra, the archmage of mampang, crown of kings, Farren Wyde, the birdpeople, the hydra), Deathtrap Dungeons
Michael Moorcock: Stormbringer, Mournblade
Curse of the Poltergeist - lol, it's from some fantasy game... : )
Led Zepplin (turst me, it's there)

I always thought that Lich Vecna was a reference to D&D, as there is an evil god in the D&D Greyhawk setting called Vechna. But I think this is just coincidence.
In version k, there is an underwater level that reminds me of a level in EOB3 (though this could also be coincidence).
The "master stairway" operated by emerald keys is similar to the Skeleton staircase in the original DM.

Lol, I heard it on the radio the other day. Have heard it before but not before playing this dungeon. Well here you go.Led Zepplin (turst me, it's there)
There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.
There's a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
'cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook
There's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.
There's a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.
And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the may queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.
Your head is humming and it won't go
In case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How ev'rything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

I have difficulty to remember it for now (i'll check tonight at home) but i think Lich Vecna is from Steve Jackson's Sorcery Series.Trantor wrote:I always thought that Lich Vecna was a reference to D&D, as there is an evil god in the D&D Greyhawk setting called Vechna. @beo : can't check the books at the moment (too drunk, red wine from argentina i guess) but well.. it can possibly be :
- the god of female creatures you meet at the beginning of the 4th book
- the god of a priest you meet before entering the fortress of Mampang
- or a female wizard you meet in the Seven Serpents, she captured the Serpent of Sun in her crystal ball

I just found out (because I'm reading it) : multiple reference to the very excellent Jorge Luis Borgès.
What Is Your Quest ?
