Chaos Strikes Back?

Post by nzpatriot1 »

Hello DM lovers
1! I seem to recall that chaos strikes back on the amiga version had a 'wall tap' function...??

2!! i HAVE gone into the prison and chosen characters 'centaur guy', petal , kazai and that mean looking aligator with the trident,... but i can't for the life of me ( there seems to be no way to carry these guys over) figure out how to get them into the actual chaos strikes back game... pity i don't have my old dm characters from the amiga.. i'm not sure that they'd work on the atari version anyway.

however i would like to play the AMIGA VERSION on my winuae , thingie..
SO ... where can i get amiga copy of CSB??

choice thanks Jules.

Can't help you with the Amiga copy, but answers to some of the questions.

1) The wall tap function was present, yes. In CSBwin it is missing, as well as the drinking straight from a fountain option and the magic map. RTC the same as far as I remember, maybe tapping is possible there.

2) To Start CSB (for Amiga) you have to save your characters in the prison, use the utility disc and then start a new game.

In RTC, use the 'start new adventure' porting utility to convert a party from another game or just choose a new one with the same procedure as above.

For CSBwin I cannot answer the question - I also did not succeed when trying with the latest version. Funny.

PitD: RTC does have all these features, wall tapping, drinking directly from a fountain and the magic map.
Parting is all we know from Heaven, and all we need of hell.

Thanks. I will give it a try Lunever. Anyway - what about the CSBwin part? Can you help me there - I gave it a try and was quite embarassed not to succeed saving characters in the prison and then not getting it to work in the dungeon.

Annoying.
Ive just finished DM after years in the wilderness without it and boy was it good to be back.

Now, much like teh previous guy, im trying CSB for windows. I can tour the prison, pick a team, and thats it. It tells me to exit teh game and use the StartUp Disc ( i remember that from teh original Amiga version) but alas it doesnt actually start the game. If i quit and then reopen and resume the game, it just starts me off where ive saved it, in the Prison.

Useless and bl00dy frustrating.

Any clues anyone?

Well, here we are.

I'm the fellow who wrote CSBwin. So I am somewhat
familiar with it.

In the prison, you select your characters. Then you save
your game. For example, save it as CSBGAME.DAT.

Now you must place these characters into the CSB dungeon.
Run CSBwin the same way you did when you entered the
prison. But.....instead of clicking on 'DUNGEON', click on
'UTILITY'. Then select the game in which your characters
were previously saved. In our example, 'CSBGAME'.

Then click on 'MAKE NEW ADVENTURE' twice. Heh! I did not
create this. This is how the Atari game worked.

Then select where you want your new game to reside. For example,
click on 'CSBGAME2'.

Then click on 'QUIT'.

Run CSBwin again. (This is like rebooting the Atari.)
Click on 'DUNGEON'. You will be at the prison door again.
Click on 'RESUME'. Then select the name of the
game that you saved. 'CSBGAME2' in our example.

Now you are starting the adventure
with your selected party in the CSB dungeon. You will be
in a dark room with your enemies gathered around you.
The first time you do this you will be convinced that something is
wrong. A game cannot start this way. But it does.
