That sorta puts a whole new meaning to "Ahhhhh my leg!"... LOL :P

Every wonder how Rock Monsters reproduce? Ameena and Westian are going to find out. Well, most of Ameena will....

When the "ghost" said "she", it perked my ears up.... I've sorta gathered that the rockpile is the "she" and that, if female, it COULD be pregnant (or about to spawn another one, or some such)

I'm glad someone was paying attention, I was worried when the usually observant Ameena totally spaced on that one :D

Wow, you are creating DM history there Beo. In my unpublished DMJava dungeon I had a scroll indicating that miners, shovelling rock into converyors/teleporters, accidentally converted their brethren into rock monsters as they were about to change shift.

LMAO. Maybe some of them were female :D

I know I always was going to write it in my DM story that Gigglers were creations of Lord Chaos. punishing thieves who were no sport and who 'cheated' at his puzzles. Except that Theron's Quest ret-con them into a seperate race existing outside of Mount Anaias!

There's an ickle baby Rock Monster incoming, then? Aaaww, cute...but no, I'd never have figured that one, lol. DM monsters reproducing isn't something I've ever even really considered. So would a baby Rock Monster be called a Pebble Monster or something instead, then? ;)

Maybe a spider monsters when it bursts out of Ameena's leg?

So I assume Ameena would not have figured out the riddle about the treaure then. Just leaves OB to weight in on if he Westian would figure it out, or if the two of you would let the poor rock monster die and not rescue the ickle ones!

If Ameena didn't have enough else to worry about already, she might put more thought into it and show more concern for the Rock Monster, but considering her current mental and physical condition (plus the fact I had no clue what was going on either ;)), I think she can perhaps be forgiven for not thinking through every single possibility currently available ;).

Whew, managed to get through all the OOC thread. Right, just need to get through the IC thread. Then actually tidy up and assimilate all the notes from that.

And then NEVER NOT TAKE GOOD NOTES OF EVERYTHING AGAIN!

So much good intentions, sorta lost track of some little things atm!

Blimey that must take a lot of work, to be honest. I wrote a few things down, but Ameena's intuition seems to be the most gauge of events thus far.

A lttle bit, my fault for not staying ontop of it so I forget where I lost track - I think page 10 when it started getting busy at work, but litle things like updating at work then not putting the changes in a PM to myself mean the occasional thing gets missed too

Just waiting on money and we can see what goes down with Marhman, Helm and Farel. I have good feelings. *Whistles*

And funnily enough, Ameena and OB are both free to post again after my update - though Ameena needs to include the phrase 'ouch' in her post for the failed Con check :D And hehe, we'll see what happens due to the failed will save...

Well done! Now it is time for us to add page after page of extra details into the OOC thread, just so you don't get bored.

I actually did not figure out the riddle the spirit said, and even looking back now I don't think Westian would have got it. I want to save the baby rock monsters (I think?! Over the last 20 years I have beaten them with clubs, poisoned them with spells and dropped them down pits more times than I care to remember), but would have to use lots of OOC knowledge to have a clue that anything was happening other than a poisonous rock monster dying.

As for Christmas, I think I will be around quite a bit - no work and less travelling. But if it is left as a cliffhanger that also is fine. Won't be around for New Year's though.

:p

Yeah, I think to spot them will require a take 20 from Ameena, and since neither of your characters are suspicious enough to make a thorough check of the area, it will be luck if you spot the cute ickle ones. Then again, is the party necesserily the safest place for them? Are cute little rock monsters just itching to be a constant source of concern as an evil DM threatens them all the time to stress the party? :)

Anyway, let's see how it plays out!

Money, jsut so you know as opposed to your character, Thinpas basically stayed back to ensure his soldier would be safe, and Farel's insane fast reaction barrelling passed Thinpas basically scuppered that, ontop of Aurek then lucking a kill while Thinpas was trying to close off the escape. Just worked out funnily that the slow moving Helm was like 5 feet away from the running soldier when Farel caught up with him, hence the panicked hostage situation. Both soldier and knight had to use withdraw actions (at least Marhman did) so could not break into a run instantly. You can bet Marhman is just running flat out now :D

Meanwhile, anything I should know regarding details of what's happening to Ameena being weirdified by the spirit woman ghost thingy? I was waiting for maybe some kind of IC update regarding the results of my crappy rolls. If not, I'll just post based on what you told me in this thread about what happens.

Lol, apparently not! Poor little murafu! :(

Ok, just waiting for LB's move and we can update the teleporter room, obviously Ameena and OB are free to post their next move since they were always slightly further behind (though I think their part is paced slower so it all works for now)

Money, while wizards can do many wonderful things, healing tends to not be one of them :D I think your roll reflected that! A DC15 healing check would have stabalised Helm, hopefully Aurek can go one better with the last of his daily ability, unless he has other ideas :)

There is only one soldier, by the way - Marhman. Thinpas was killed and is lying by the door, and they were the only two disappearing through the door. Drommal and Brohur went back through the teleporter, and Arbrut and Passin are lying in the main room where you left them.

Sorry for late response :(
As I said, I've been pretty sick as of late (chest-cold, think bronchitis x10) and the internet hasn't been too high on the "ol' priority list". :P
I'll try to make sure that I keep up with it, but I may need to be "auto-ed" for a round or two in the next week.

Sorry again peoplez. Had I been given more warning, I could've planned something. But I woke up with it on Thursday, and it's still kickin' me around.

Ah, hadn't realised that was what was making you less conspicuous on the website! Hope you feel better soon!

Funnily, I think the Helm thing nudged the 'let's sit around and chat' portion to this week. Luckily, everyone else can talk and we can just stack up questions for Aurek when you feel better :D

Ok, will update this evening for the main group, I think this will put everyone off of combat rounds now. And I believe Aurek's helaing (only 3hp as your power refreshes 'per day' , but that's enough) puts everyone at alive and conscious.

Well, unless Ameena botches another few poison resists, but hey, one thing at a time!

How exactly are we meant to stop Ameena's decline when I can no longer heal, and neither can OB??? Just a side thought... :P

Thanx for the well wishes. But, off to bed nows... it's 2:45am here AND I've been awake since 6:30am yesterday, my cough keeps waking me up after about 3-4hrs, so I can't get much sleep...

BTW: Here's a "sick" smiley for the forum, I noticed they lack it... Image

And, I think that these two would go in there well: Hug = Image Applause = Image
And this one would look good as "tired" Image

Sorry for the minor rant.... Now I REALLY AM going to go to bed... :P

@beo Good idea about carrying the unconscious murafu back to the group! Though if Westian did that I think keeping her there once she recovered would be a lot more difficult. :D

Yes not much healing left. The only option is to use the 0-level effects, and hope that resting will cure enough wounds until the poison disappears. I have been in that situation more than once in DM and especially CSB - someone close to death and poisoned, sleeping and hoping it will wear off soon.

Edit: get well soon LB! You should try and sleep it off too!

Yeah, the zero level effects can give +1 bonuses to check rolls or you can heal 1hp. You need knowledge rolls for doing too much though - I think spreading around 1hp to various people, or +1 bonuses to individual check rolls is fine. Trying to stack healing, ot trying to give alot of bonuses for check rolls, will require greater skill and luck in petitioning :)

For this particular extended encounter, because it is still only a few minutes after the main battle, you can't restore any spells yet.

If encounters extend beyond a reasonable length (such as being chased, being led, etc) then you will usually be allowed to restore a number of effects equal to your intelligence / wisdom modifier (which takes the place of the additional spells I denied mages and clerics for those bonuses)

It's all complicated, can we just enjoy LB dying in real life and Ameena dying in the game and not worry about such matters :D

Just to check - in your latest update you (Wuffy) said I take 1hp non-lethal damage from the ghosty effects - that's another 1hp on top of the one I already took the other day? Or did you forget about that one? It was the Fort save I crit-failed on, btw, not the Will save (that was only 5 or 7 or something). Well, I'll subtract it for now. Including the combined total of both leath and non-lethal damage, I now only have 1hp left (though since most of that damage is non-lethal, I dunno what happens if it takes me below 0 - would I only half-die or something? ;)).
Anyway, IC post coming up...

... ... NOT! :P
<end sarcastic lecture here>

LOL. Good call though, I had to laugh, even though I coughed for about 5 minutes afterwards. Hehehe :P

EDIT: Ameena, when your non-lethal damage is greater than your remaining HP, you fall unconcious... but, giving the fact you're poisoned, I don't think you stabilise (you'd continue to take damage after going down).

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread

Indeed :)

You record non-lethal separate from your normal hit points, and don't subtract it (unlike lethal damage). If your non-lethal damage equals your current hit points, you are staggered and can only make one action (move or standard). If it goess higher, you fall unconscious.

Meanwhile, lethal damage still works as normal - so if your hit points actually went to -1hp from lethal damage, you'd be dying!

Anyway, if I already gave you 1hp non-lethal damage from the ghost yesterday, don't take one today. But yeah, you get 1hp non-lethal from the ghost and 1hp lethal from the poison. Man, you really need to shake it off! Remember, westian's actions mean you either a) get to restore 1hp of poison damage (and actually 1hp of non-lethal damage aswell), OR you can try to make a fortitude save right now with a further +1. Failure will not result in poison damage, this is an 'extra' check thanks to Westian's prayer if you want to use it that way instead.

The choice is yours :D

About poison:

Just to explain, in D&D poison damage should only happen twice - once immediately, then once more a minute later. And that's it. To make it more DM like, I'm keeping it more like 4th edition where poison is an ongoing effect that needs a successful saving throw to end. Some poisons might be slow but persistant (like this one Ameena has, every @one minute Ameena makes a saving throw and takes 1hp until she makes a successful throw to shake it), some might be fast (as in acting each round of combat giving damage until you succeed at the saving throw, get cure poison, or die) and others might be slow but aggressive (for example have a 1, 5, 30 minute or even an hour between each save but it actually get worse in terms of damage and saving throw required until you heal or die!)

Obviously, poisons can have a variety of effects aswell as or instead of damage - temp ability lose, inflicting a condition on you, etc.

I'll have to keep an eye on this one - I think poison might have been limited so that players couldn't ge a powerful DOT against monsters, aswell as the effect on the group (the group would be more likely to have poison healing than monsters, after all).

Anyway, like all tweaks, I'll monitor it and see how it goes. Deliberate poisonings might keep following the model, but I might tone down monster and spell poison effects back to the normal D&D rules if they prove to be too powerful. Sometimes, game balance and fun over realism seems the order of the day :)

Wait, why am I still up? Oh yeah, the getting late back from show and needing to do updates. I remember! Must get sleeeep!

Okay, so my hp are currently at 6/9 (+4 non-lethal damage), since I only took one from the ghost, not two. I think I'll take that extra Fortitude save. So if it's +1, is that a straight +1 or is that a +1 to cancel out my racial -1 penalty (I get -1 to Fort saves against everything except Disease, where I get +1). I'll take it as a cancel-out for now but add one to whatever I get if it was supposed to be an actual +1 ignoring the penalty.
Let's hope my d20 likes me this time...oh ffs lol...rolled a 5 (+1, -1)...but like I said, make that a 6 (5+1) if the Fort bonus gives the extra point with no penalty.
Oh well, at least I don't take damage this time ;).
Westian, hurry up and get the Bro rune and regen some more mana ;).
