I just had 1 charactor with the boots, the rest were as normal.. and yes - i had to use the mouse/click to get around which is quite tricky (the keyboard would result in two fire blast hits and death).

Managed to get passed that bit. Use the firestaff to generate a metric ton of fireshields, while using physical and party fireshields too. You really only need to quickly step forward over the first pit, then you can pause as the other pit flashes continuously. You should be able to get across without thought. I just made sure my guys were in the yellow.

anyway, I have just opened the topaz key door (after recovering my 'useless' stuff from the gold key doors). I have failed to find the plate/helm of lyte, but have gotten the full darc and RA armours, and I think I have caught all the ,magic items and weapons so far.

hmmm... I can't recall where al the Lyte armor is... Not sure why, but I seem to recall it being down in the torture chamber but I could be mistaken.. What are the benefits of all the armor though - i've never really understood what benefits it gives you other than perhaps less wounds?

RA armour was in the torture chamber, the lyte seemed to be slowly pieced together in the RA level, but I've missed two parts

Well, the firestaff is formed, I found all the skeleton keys so far (but didn't back track to use the skeleton key in the level above the dragon level). I kinda blew through the golem/weird black ghost level so I ,maybe missed some secrets

Anyway, time to kill some dragons and find some lord chaoses

And yeah, basically armour just stops you taking as much damage, which shouldn't be sniffed atby any means. I beleive lyte/RA armour is good and light, but darc/dragon armour is slightly better, just heavier

but where is next level ?

Post by linflas »

i'm stuck with 2 winged keys, i found the 2nd one after the sapphire lock. there are stairs down right after the medusa fountain but they lead to a lower level with magenta worms respawning, 2 rooms of fireballs/lightning bolts and i found a (solid or iron, can't remember) key that is used at the upper level.
i have a gold key but can't find a way to next level...

EDIT : ok, forget about it, i found the big switch..

It's a challenge with high level characters going down to the torture chamber, then again, it is a completely optional zone!

If it's any consolation, when you hit the next set of beholders and demons I believe you are3 close to the teleport out!

Yeah, the torture chamber is not the way onwards - as said above, switches, switches, switches and more switches is the order of business! Later on I think the odd key from a level earlier helps you, nearer the start everything you need to continue should be on the same level

I am on the Golem level and have done everything to get the Master Key, trouble is where is the keyhole. - is it somewhere on the level. I have also lost a charachter who had the Onxy Key. Do I need to go back and retrieve it?

Yes, you definitely need the Onyx key on the last level if you want to get the full firestaff.

Hmm, master key? Darn, I knew I would get spanked for not exploring the whole of the golem level, I haven't found that yet. I wonder if it's to do with the series of rooms you bounce between, I never did get to the green switches...

So how did you get to the final level from the Golem level as I haven't found any stairs down.

It's pretty far on, you find a path beyond the muddle of initial golem/ghost corridors, I think it is relatively straightforward to find a large room with pillars and ghost eye things. A tiny switch on one of the pillars opens the way onwards, and after a while you come to a great corridor with golems guarding switches, and four doors in a set of centre 'spoke' corridors. This opens to a set of four stars down.

Mark your way back to the skeleton keyhole if you find it, as i'm sure the skeleton keyhole is near the start.

Oh, the master key door is on the level lower than the firestaff level by the way - you need to look for another exit!

meanwhile, i need to go back up and find that durned master key

Not tonight, nor likely until next week now!

Edit: Ok, played a bit longer, and actually it took no time to backtrack, find the lever/button rooms and solve them properly (blue gem missed further back) and get the master key. Added bonus - went back and opened the last skeleton key hole too.

Know whre chaos is, will get passd the black doors another time

I now have the Master Key and the Onyx key and have just killed the Golems guarding the red buttons. I have pressed all of these and it seems to have opened up an alcove that requires a key that I don't have. So where is the key that I need for this alcove.

You need the emerald key from level 11 (the one with the red gems). Apart from this you seem to have everything you need.

It should be all downhill from here vexirk - the end is in sight!

OK, I'm now just a few light-years behind everybody else.

I thought I'd finished the blood-key level, used the 4th blood key (and found the 8th winged key), but instead of *ta-da* I just found a Tourqouise key and a Skeleton key. How should I progress? Do I have to go back? Up?

Or down? Because after the 3rd blood key I found a green switch and a saying on a wall next to it about "a treasure in an old chamber bellow for those who fall" (or something like that) - but I couldn't find a pit or stairs (except the pit after the 2nd blood key, leading to a small catacomb with only two useless pieces of equipment - a sword and a mail or what).

So what is the way out of the blood-key level? Must be something embarrassingly simple and stupidly obvious...

Once you have the 8 winged keys you need to backtrack a bit until you get to the four doors close to the deathfield. The door that requires the tourqouise key is off the last one you would have opened out of the four.

beowuuf not exactly downhill as I have to go back UP to the eleventh level for the emerald key. Is it anywhere near where I got the red gems out of the rooms or is it hidden more obscurely than that.

It's after the wall marked 'valuables'. there are two portcullis'. Take the left into a straight passage. You get turned around midway through the passage about eight paces in. Complete this section to find the emerald key and the greave of darc.

@Vex: Thanks! I knew it! I knew it! I was just too lazy to go back. OK, now I'm back on my way. The magnitude of the Skeleton stairway somehow got me to my knees, but now I'm going to talk to the knights... :D

So, there is no direct way down from the blood-key level? And the "treasure in an old chamber bellow for those who fall" (or so) saying refers only to the small catacomb with two useless pieces of junk?

I'm playing a solo run, and it's getting a bit tough...

I am now right outside the 3 black doors after killing the dragon. Do I have to kill all the demons before proceeeding or are they opening the black doors when they step on certain areas as I can hear doors opening and closing and I assume that they are causing this to happen. Haven't seen money with the beers yet - maybe waiting at the bar behind the 3 doors!!!

I think the linking stairway actually starts after the tourquoise key door. Look out for any skeleton keys (which I note you already have one of) on your travels as they open open the walls on each level leading to the stairs. Quite useful especially if you forget something essential on an earlier level like wot I did and you have to go back for it.

The message 'gifts for the fallen' is refering to the torture chamber which can only be accessed by falling down a series of pits, starting at level 4.

The black doors open and close on timers. The only way is to hang around one until it opens and try to kill the black flame behind it.
