Thanks, I was about to post this Jan. It's so unbelievable... This even came this morning on the radio, the whole of Germany is laughing at the man.

That's still OK, Trant. I believe that he might be a smart guy (although I don't know him) and as I said - I like the German accent (LOL - always enjoy Arnold Schwarzenegger's oldest movies).

But the first Czech EU commissioner was able to say only "Uhh - I am very optimistic" in English.

I simply love the German accent! :D
You're kidding, right? This guy is Aingelish, isn't he?
(And I thought he looked like a guy who lives down the road from me. )

I think it's bad enough that a politician of this caliber is not better at English. He now has an important position in the international EU, and he was Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, one of Germany's 16 states, before (a position similar to that of a Governor in the US). Baden-Württemberg is also not exactly small or unimportant in Germany, it's the third-largest state population-wise, and its capital is Stuttgart, home of companies such as Daimler-Benz or Porsche. It's also the home-state of T0mi, whatever that may mean. :P

But what I think is really sad is that this guy said that English will become the most important language in Germany, the "language of work", and that German will only be spoken in families and with friends in a short time; therefore, he said, everyone should learn English. He also claimed that his English would be very good. Now we know just HOW good...

I haven't heard TOMi speak English but I'd vote for him.
Are you practicing your Ainguleesh, TOMi?

Seriously, I had a terrible time even figuring out what the man was trying to get across.

Perhaps they could pay Arnold Schwarzenegger to move over there and fix things.
(I have friends in California who might help pay for his flight)

At least one thing can be changed MW, here you can listen to T0mi speaking English (and about DM!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21bOT9MpYG0

And if you didn't notice yet, there is also me talking about DM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir8Ftt7Hdvw [/shameless plug]

Heh, I think I can safely say that both of you (Trant and T0mi) are better at speaking English than that other bloke :).

P.S. I thought I'd add this 'older' song to my post. It goes well with the 'mumble English' trail we were on.

I know we have many Pink Floyd fans here, and it seems quite a few of us recognize the name of David Bowman. I suspect that some of you will already know this then, but since it is pretty amazing (not to mention plain beautiful on all the human senses), I still decided to post it. Not being able to think about much else than 2001 in the past 48 hours probably has something to do with it, too.

Some people really have WAY too much time on their hands: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsVJGRuHA8k

It gets a bit repetitive after a while, but I still love it, especially the part from 7:50 to 9:00. But really, anything with multiple turtle shells is great.

Now I hate to sound like some kind of internet snob, but this right here is pure comedy gold!

I won't say anything about it as you should probably read the article then look at the comments to get the gist of what's going on, but when you realise -- wow, talk about average web users being dumb as rocks! :-)
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/fa ... npage5.php

If you can't be arsed to wade through the comments to work out what's going on, this one kind of sums it up:
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/fa ... ent-187896

And this comment, while being quite misanthropic, is titterlingly funny:
