Oh sorry, just sloppy writing!

Just to prove how intelligent you are (my math is terrible)

[!spoiler]If all of the five lines are equal (the same quantity)... And Oh_B believes S == 1 && A == 2 && C == 3

first and second line
3*A = 2*S + 2*A
3*A - 2*A = 2*S
therefore A / 2 == S
Oh_B proof 2 / 2 == 1

first and third line
3*A = 2*C
therefore (3*A)/2 == C
Oh_B proof (3*2)/2 == 3

therefore A == (2*C)/3
Oh_B proof 2 == (2*3)/3

second and third line
2*S + 2*A = 2*C
factor 'A's in for the C, 5 lines above
2*S + 2*((2*C)/3) = 2*C
2*S = 2*C - 2*((2*C)/3)
S = C - ((2*C)/3)
Oh_B proof 1 == 3 - ((2*3)/3)
therefore Oh_B deserves a cookie!

Well I can see where you are coming from...

Hmm, are you brave enough to actually have Westian try that as the answer? Or do you want to await other opinions from money and LB first...?

Obviously, if OB does have Westian put his idea into practice, then what does everyone want to do - given the fact there could be something beyond? I'm assuming the same tactical lay-out as before btw, modified by whomever actually inscribes anything into the wall.

[!spoiler]Lol, Oh, ok, I'll stop drawing it out, ian has double posted with it too. Yep, you nailed it bang on. It's simple enough if you spot it, but I was worried it was a little bit open as a puzzle and could be mis-enterpretted as a sequence, rune substitution, etc and become irritating. Glad to see it ain't so!

Wow, so the weekend of looking for the right answer turned into about two seconds then? :D

I'm really happy how I can seem to throw anything at you lot (combat, puzzles, NPCs) and you seem to be able to deal with it all in interesting ways. It means my mode of thinking isn't copmpletely unfathomable, and means you guys are thinking.

Nice to know I can keep ramping things up and haven't found your limits yet!

Ok, so as players you need to decide some tactics before putting in the answer;
I'm happy with the formation as before with one the personages in front to scribe the result, and not having to write between 'spoiler' tags any more!

I tried lots of things on the puzzle, tertiary numbers, letter/vowel/space counting and extending the patterns in a lateral direction to see how it looked! Ahh simultaneous equations...

Yes, I tried other stuff first...I got stuck for awhile thinking that it was something like Pascal's triangle. Good explanation of the simultaneous equations, my original post was a bit random!

Also I am happy to give that answer a go, hopefully having two fighters ready to go through the door if it opens. Also, if it opens we better all move through asap, in case it closes down again and some people are stuck on the other side. Or in case we get the door landing on our heads.

Eh, I've pushed the story ahead of Aurek enough this week, I'll let LB at least weigh in on any last minute tactics or actions before the door opens :)

So there's the cliffhanger... what's behind the door? Wish I could reveal it before the weekend starts, it'll be fun :D

Lol, nah, you just kept us to a normal post schedule. Nothing wrong with that, since we're all busy one time or another!

Speaking of which, I won't resolve the current new discovery (unless LB posts soon) until tomorrow morning my time. Though I'll write a provisional post tonight in notepad to quickly post tomorrow and catch the early birds tomorrow morning :D

Bahh, another typical - you get to meet an interesting-looking new character the moment I bugger off as well, lol.
How tall is a gnome compared to a halfling? Slightly shorter? That's how I envision them, anyway (possibly due to the fact that that's how the sizes worked in EQ...then again I think gnomes are slightly shorter than kender on Krynn as well...).

I think they are....a tiny bit shorter. Probably equal to murafu.

Heh, typical, she misses out on meeting someone she can finally (and literally) see eye to eye with :P. Oh well, maybe she'll meet him later or something. I suppose he might turn out to be some kind of crazy bastard who's busy inventing a life-eradicator or something, rather than some slightly eccentric person who's locked himself away to have his own privacy, or a prisoner of Gholst (or whomever) being forced to make stuff or something.

Damn, looks like I was right about the gnome, lol - I can just see him and Ameena sitting, chattering away at quite high speed, asking and answering questions on any subject they happen to think of as interesting at the time - murafu, when among each other, tend to speak considerably faster than they would around other species, amongst which they tend to speak a bit slower so their words can be made out.

Yeah, NPCs usually have something wrong with them, or else why aren't you just watching cut scenes of my awesome characters :D

Let's see what's wrong with brighteyes, shall we?

And in general, poor Ameena for missing the fun, but then again she wanted out, rather than to meet all the fun stuff! So she gets known alternate fun, but no evil bloody rooms. So it balances out I hope until...well, until things go how they go :D

Well yeah, something might stop her and Helm from getting to the exit (or they'll get there but it'll be blocked or something), so they'll have to backtrack a bit and try to find another way out, or something...

I somehow missed the comment about the gnome and murafu happily talking. I'm scared at what the oblivious to other's suffering and shocked at other people's suffering characters might have to talk about... be funny to see though!

Edit: Oops, what I meant to say was that poor OB! Sometimes Firefox remembers the text of previous sessions, so that's doubly annoying to have permanently lost the work. If you remember anything you said that didn't get included, feel free to retcon it layter - just say.

Ok, will see if LB can post tonight, will probably do the provisional notepad update ready to post tomorrow morning thing.

Also, must add an updated map at some point soon to give you all your bearings here.

Well, at the time of saying that I didn't know he was a sociopath (because it hadn't come up yet), and Ameena wouldn't know what one of those is anyway ;).
And d'oh to OB about the post loss :(. I bt you missed out all the parts where the brave murafu saved the day in between the others all crying like little girls and sitting in the corner chewing on bits of bandage and Haynuus toenails to try and avoid the horror of it all and...

;)

Ha ha, exactly :wink:

Actually I did have a section about the murafu - although I did not mention Ameena's name, or the existence of Helm. Also I said that you had gone deeper into the dungeon, to have get new stories to bring back to your race. Just to throw crazy Brighteyes off the scent. :)

Yes! And worse, I always copy text to the clipboard when I am typing anything long. I did the same this time, but after firefox crashed I tried to open Word from my start menu and that made Windows Explorer crash. Asdf Windows indeed! Especially Vista...how I dislike it....

I say we fry this troublesome knome - he's already given us a starter for 10 on what to expect in each direction and I suspect we could get a little more info before we kill the little fella??? Also, if we get rid of him we can check the room without interuption and make our own way.... :) Thoughts?

Yeah, from various crashes I tend to work on notepad for any posts. Quick and dirty, and if it crashes, it doens't corrupt itself!

So, of course, each version of windows kicks notepad's functionality even more in the crotch. Something that used to work perfectly but had a finite memory print for some reason under win98 now seems to have a display glitch to if you alter stuff it will sometimes display the words in the wrong place so you edit the wrong thing, and also the copy and paste inserts invisible returns if you have word wrap on!

Lol Money...so the gnome admits to having no moral compass and then the halfling is up for just nuking him where he stands just because he seems a little shady? Is Falkor trying to nuke as many unsuspecting people as possible? ;)

Lol Money! As a player I love your "Kill them all and let God sort them out" attitude! :D

Although as a character, I don't think Westian will be too keen on attacking someone who does not pose a direct threat to the group. :shock:
