It's not the Nightmare Before Christmas...unfortunately, "Jack" is about the commonest character name ever so it's not really a help in narrowing this one down, lol. That said, I don't recognise the quote anyway, so...

Dammit, thought of 'Speed', 'Fisher King' AND '12 Monkeys' for the 'Jack' - ah well, can only think of Dennis Hopper now... is it 'Blue Velvet'? If not, then time for me to just Google everything ... damn my physical memory.

Not Blue Velvet but for sort of a loose clue, i have carried on the 'Jack' theme.
Not much of a clue since (as Ameena pointed out) there is a huge number of 'Jack' characters in movies, but i did say it was only a loose one.
