Lol, yeah, you guys are completely stuffed now.
If only someone had a way to carry on some form of subterfuge, as if they were evil too... something they'd planted almost at the start of the section ...

Whistling innocently and trying not to remind the gnome of that hilarious time you yanked him half way across a room would be a good start
I might be getting you to roll initiative, doens't mean violence is imminent. At worst you guys can delay and see what happens next...
Have a good sleep!

Initiative Roll (1d20=17)
Hmmm. Interestin'. I take Beo's mistake of Soorec for Seeroc in the map!
My first impression is
oh bugger.
The first idea has to be to get to the button but.... Why don't all three of us charge Seeroc instead? I mean as a high level wizard he'll survive one round of combat, but couldn't survive 2 or 3. When the wizard/creator goes, sometimes his minions disappear as well - not guaranteed in our case. If you let him talk, he'll move to the back, me thinks. Also, can he cast spells with someone swinging a sword at his head? No idea in this rule-set.
I see no advantage to conversation in this scenario here, unless someone can persuade me
Finally, why isn't Falkor 'cloned'?.. Hmmm. Ideas?

Soorec/Seeroc is something that will be explained soon, though it's nothing major. Certainly not a really old mistake I've retconned. No.
If someone has a standard action readied, it will go off before the action that triggers it. However, after that, you guys can do anything, as you recall from Falkor's wacky constant stream of death, spellcasters standing beside a melee guy have no fun at all. They can try to get a spell off while damaged, but there is a check roll for it.
As to why Flakor isn't cloned, there could be a reason or there could just be a wacky coincidence there.
AS to why you might like to talk instead of fight... why, I have no idea why you would want to talk to him. There's no indication whatsoever anywhere that this might be a good idea and attacking him might be bad.

Seriously though, you guys are in harm's way, so you might like to tread carefully. I wouldn't punish you unduely for falling into a trap, especially since there wasn't huge amounts of chances to really realise what was happening. But just be aware you are in almost the worst positioning that this senario could have gone. And I won't give you too much leeway since this is all to your planning. Luckily Aurek stood back and was gunna let scorpion come to him, plus the combined communication from Falkor and Aurek was good enough I would have let you guys know something was up even if you had moved forward. And since Seeroc took advantage of an opportunity, there are maybe one or two things he hasn't had a chance to do yet.
Westian might be trapped, but then OB may well realise that's his own fault, and being safely protected from immediate harm and free to administer to the squire and talk might be seen as a benefit.
Anyway, money's made a good first step, up to you guys what you want to do next. I'd point out for the players' benefit, that of course money can still talk to the scorpion, and will be able to do so for the whole encounter. Or five minutes, whichever is the shorter timeframe.

Really,
I was not expecting that! Hmm, I have to blame myself somewhat, I should not have trusted Brighteyes to press the button. But I thought that even if he messed it up it would be a reversible problem, and someone could just come along and press it himself.
Okay, my immediate actions are limited to healing/arming the squire, preparing a spell and talking to Seeroc. Although I don't think he will listen...
Great twist, as a player I love it, even though I have never been more scared for my characters well-being.

And yet, hopefully if you look back over it nothing contradicts it, and you might spot a few mentions. Well, except the contradictory stuff that you guys, as players, introduced.

Yes, looking back over the story some things do make more sense. Like the scene with the soldiers. When the soldier said he would "ruin the surprise" I thought he meant he would give away Brighteyes's plan to lead us to a trap...I didn't get the full meaning until now.
And I should say
mea culpa, I knew Brighteyes was planning to betray us, I just thought that since he did not know we knew, and since we were 5 versus 1, that we had it under control!

Ohhhh, what a veritable mess.
Question. Can Haynuus run to the switch, and take two free attacks (Seeroc & Aurek thing), and hit it in just one round? He has 30', 6 squares at normal move, and after moving a total of 7 squares will use a 'free' or 'minor' action to smack the switch? He could move 8 squares and then only get a free attack from the Aurek clone.
What is everyone's initiative though? He can't just do that at any time (Haynuus has 17, Aurek has 18).
Suggestions?

It'd be playing on the bizarre world of D&D of course as in 'real life' you wouldn't expect anyone to be able to run in an arc past everybody to smack the switch! But hey, these are the rules and we must use them to our advantage
I have started to hear Beowuuf cackling in the background now

Actually, though abstratced they follow quite well. Think about a basketball, football or rugby player - even when people are ready for them, they can move around multiple people and back. Note you could also decide to bullrush 'aurek' instead if you don't wanna take more than one attack (Haynuus, Aurek and Seeroc get actions based on your current plan)
Technically in 3.5 manipulating things should deny you a move action, as you need to use a move action to do it. In 4th ed they created the minor action for this sort ofthing, so I'm happy - especially with something as simple as a button - to let you hit it if you are barely using your second movement.

Move action to recover a flask, standard ranged one to throw a flask. You might want to re-read the label and consider your DM mythology first... it might not have exactly the effect you would expect...

It does sorta suit the "feel" of DM there... the characters just throwing EVERYTHING they have at the enemy

Lol, indeed, though hopefully I do a couple of things to bridge the gap. And I'll keep you right if there is anything major!

Well, I'd be laughing. Or apparently cackling according to Ian. I prefer to think of it as a good natured chuckle followed by a maniacal belly-laugh.
ian_scho wrote:Not thrown my trousers at anyone yet

Well, that's a daily power you want to be sparing with. Or I'm assume once every two years that Haynuus takes them off to sniff/wash them at least!
Anyway, seem to have a full house for moves, will go admire my new monitor a little more, wonder at the fact I can have so much up at once, allow my fingers to recover from carrying the thing, then update!

Ok, I'm gunna play it that - since Seeroc/Soorec/Brighteyes (I swear it will all be explained) wasn't going to instantly attack, that Falkor acts, then Westian, and THEN combat kicks off with Haynuus and Aurek's actions.
OB and money, I'll need your initiative scores next round

Ooh, just in the nick of time. Wow, you guys all rolled pretty well (just noticed Westian got the same) - 17 - 18, with you and Aurek turnign that into 20s!
Map is going up once I adjust for Falkor's initiative (though techincally he goes first along with Westiasn this round) and then the post - just needs a quick check for....umm..... what do you check posts for again?

Wow, pity about the failed reflexes score the first time LB, but made up for by a great check against the two doubles. I'll resolve those actions, since they are still part of this round. I'll also update the map for your current hp score.
When you see the resolved action, feel free to alter your remaining actions if you like
Note you can step between the two guys as a 5 foot step so you aren't totally backed against the teleporters. And note that if you sidestepped into the teleporter, you might get trapped but you might also be out of harm's way

I'm definately altering my actions. I dropped my second attack, and I am attempting to shove "Farel" into the haze wall.
