Haynuus:
Half human, half orc, half witted. Usually when you mix races you can get a little bit of the better bits of both but Haynuus is definitely with learning difficulties... Or lets just call it plain stupid shall we? However. He's recently acquired a circlet that was a magnificent gift for kings - they were all stupid too apparently (common knowledge, really) and so it would whisper some words of wisdom into their ears.
He's not the most likeable of people either, at first impressions. Smells bad, and is completely oblivious to racial traits or diplomacy when communication is required. He's plain old ignorant in this respect. That and having a face you'd scream at if you saw it in a dark corridor makes him at a disadvantage in any social gatherings.
His main traits are his strength and his toughness though. He's a fighter, but locked in a child's mind. In summary it makes him really sad to chop things up. Undead and unnatural stuff is fine, fantastic even... Oh, screamers are good too.
He has suddenly got a new personal goal in life. The title of the world's first Screamer Herder beckons, thereby removing him from that treacherous lifestyle of a warrior.
Ignoring decorum and any kind or ill feeling he might cause with his actions Haynuus grabbed quite unpolitely his back-pack off Deephold as soon as they started to move out. Many a mercenary (or lets face it, normal person) would have grabbed the OH blade which had more 'value' but he was most preoccupied with getting it's contents back in his possession again. He returned his attention back behind them once more as he threw it over his shoulders. He still didn't trust the animated armour from assaulting them.
OOC - Ready an attack (1d20=10) this time, lets assume Haynuus is at the back, as Ameena is at the front.

What if Chaos was truly defeated? What if Petal's chance at revenge and righting the great wrong was gone? Was the thought of emerging from this place to discover if her friends escaped enough? What if they hadn't. Did she want to escape just to discover Growlgra had not been as lucky as she had been.
No, there were souls trapped deep in the mountain still. One who might know of the fate of her father and brother, perhaps. That coul be a goal if fighting Chaos was denied to her.
Don't mind me, just seeding ideas for when PEtal finds out that Chaos has been defeated, and no-one is quite clear what's going on
The fireball flames brightly, and smashed resoundingly into the chest plate of the armour. Sadly, the black armoured torso seems to be solid, and the fire skirts over its suface without a mark.
However, once more the armour buckles and falls back for a second at the strike of the spell. This time, when it spasms, the force of the spell seems to be such that the blackened joints around the main chest plate crack. Whatever this creature is, it seems to be unstable. While the central plate is solid, the joints around it clearly are not. That seems to be a very exploitable weakness, as long as she can keep out of the range of those blades!
In a way it's a normal animated armour where magic is of very limited effect. But I can't have you waste an ON spell effect without something to show for it, and in this case - there was a secret to this particular armour
It was easy for Haynuus and Ameena to extract their belongings from Deephold's hands. While it does not make up for the loss of her cloak, at least Ameena has her pouches back. There is then a sad moment to realise that pouches were not really hers. She lost those when she woke up here, and these pouches were a temporary fix to make up for that loss too.
Haynuus got his air-like blade back, although it was quickly apparent that he would not be able to use both in combat. Hmm, a reassuringly solid blade to hit people hard with, or a more subtle blade get through armour. Choices choices. The soggy bag on his back reminded him that, hopefully, he would have another choice soon that would not involve either weapon.
Deephold looks to the armour in the room, but it does not seem to be reacting to the group lkeaving. He nods happily at his mace, though he is then troubled by a thought. He tells the other two to not worry about him, and attempts to at least put on some of the easier pieces, though clearly the central breastplate will require a quiet spot to don.
Ameena shuffles forwards, trying to subtly tell what was wrong. Unfortunately, the good natured presence of the half-orc makes it tricky, and worse yet there is then a strong smell of fire. Something just ignited around the corner.
And then there came the sound of clanking again...
OK, I'll give you guys a surprise round's worth of action - so like a move action or one more standard action - before the armour reacts. Thank Petal for striking the armour. Alost makes up for its prescence, of course
Ian, Haynuus can make a move and still keep the readied action readied.

Ameena waits, somewhat nervously, as Haynuus and Deephold start to sort through their things, the latter now equipping himself with his own armour, which fortunately doesn't particularly resemble that worn by the Blackskull soldiers who seem to like living in these parts. She inches toward the dwarf and looks up at him.
"Umm...you said you might be able to...you know, remove this...thing..." she begins, tentatively, gesturing toward her side.
Suddenly she whips around, startled by the sudden, obvious presence of fire nearby. The clanking sound of what's most likely another armour-creature resumes, and she wonders what's going on. After a somewhat worried glance at her friends, she moves further forward and peers around the corner, trying to see if she can make out what's happening. Getting the Darkstone removed will mean very little if they all then get chopped to pieces by a walking suit of metal plating or burnt by...well, by fire.
OOC - Probably not too much more I can do at this precise moment since I'm not sure how much of Petal and the armour Ameena will be able to see. Question about Deephold's stuff - exactly what do his plate armour and mace look like? I'm guessing the armour is silver or something, and that both it and the mace have the crescent moon symbol on them somewhere. Is the mace spiky or knobbly or what?
And having thought about it, I think it's probably easier to just give you (Raixel) a description of Ameena's current appearance OOC. Sooo...when said murafu finally comes into view, you will see what most likely appears at first glance to be a rather oversized female rat - when upright, she stands at maybe a metre(ish) tall, probably not quite at waist-height on a full-grown human male. On someone like Haynuus, who being a half-orc I imagine as being somewhat taller than a human, she probably comes only a little way above his knees. Being female, she is quite slim and lithe-looking (look at any photo of female rats compared to male rats - that's what she looks like...almost). Her tail is pretty much the same length as the rest of her, as with rats' tails. However, there are a few small differences you might notice (should Perception be rolled for how much Petal actually notices of this IC?) which mark Ameena as not-quite-a-rat. Apart from the size, I mean. Firstly, she's wearing a rather crudely-made belt around her waist, which has several pouches attached to it (the "belt" was, I think, originally the strap from a backpack and the pouches are probably all different shapes and sizes - the whole lot was found in a store-room of general junk and stuff right near the beginning of the game). Looking a bit closer, you might notice that her paws aren't quite "right" when compared to a rat - she still has four fingers, but they're perhaps an whole joint longer than they would be if they belonged to a rat (therefore are a little longer in proportion to the rest of her) and also the innermost finger of her paws is opposable and can therefore be considered to be a thumb. The main other difference is that if you care to look, you'll hopefully notice some kind of intelligence in her brown eyes, since murafu, unlike rats, are (obviously by now, I hope

) sentient. Ameena's fur is normally a sleek, dark brown colour, but at the moment there won't be much you can see of that as the majority of her is matted and bloodstained (and probably, therefore, doesn't smell too good - also, not all the blood is hers, but I suppose Petal doesn't work by scent so that doesn't really matter for now). She also has some kind of black stone embedded in her left side, just below her "armpit" (murafu think of all their limbs, bar the tail, as "legs", so I suppose that might be a "legpit"?

). The stone is about the size of her closed fist.
I think that's everything...well, every part of the
physical description, of course. The rest you will have to find out through Petal's interactions with her and with other people's reactions, I suppose

. Though I think the two of them will get on rather well, judging by the way Petal seems to think

.

Ameena: Ive kept many pet rats in my life. Mostly males cuz they seem to be less...nervous than females. I dig rats. Petal, hoverver has never seen a murafu or a half-orc before.
Beo: Readying the below action for when Petal moves again. If the armor approaches her, she will back away, trying to avoid an AoO Acrobatics (1d20+4=16) then cast.
Petal reailzes the black part of the armor isnt the weak spot, the joints around it are. Preparing to dodge the armors attacks if it approaches her, she starts to Sing the Song of FUL again. Again, the song reacts quickly, as if a fire burns very close by.
"Its not coming from within the core of the Mountain like it usually does. Where is it coming from?" she thinks to herself.
To her eyes, a tiny fire-spirit appears in front of her, a small amorphous blob of orange fire that sings its little FUL song. The song fills her mind with images of burning. Burning trees, burning ground, burning forest, burn it all. She touches her wings and changes her Song to one that explains to the fireball how to fly, using the song of IR. The fireball leaps into her hand and its song begins to change. The images that fill her mind now Sing of how joyful it would be to fly and burn everything in its path.
She takes her index finger of the opposite hands and draws the rune IR on the firey form, where it flashes a lighter yellow in the mass of fire. She then flings the fireball at the joints on the armor in front of her. As soon as the fire leaves her hand, it snaps into this reality with a *foom*, growing in size and speed as it hurtles toward its target. The sorceress quickly places her index fingertips and tips of her thumbs together with their opposite, with the index fingers' large knuckles bent to form the rune of UM. She brings the rune to her mouth and calls "UMFULIR" as the fireball leaps from her hand, streaking to impact the armor's main joint.
Im assuming either the neck joint or a leg joint
UM FUL IR (2d6+2=10)

OOC - Ahh, a fellow rat-lover - groovy

. I've had two boys before myself (likewise, I prefer them to females - big fat squishes more willing to sit still and let you scritch them

) and one day I'll have some more...erm, you know, when I have a house or somewhere else with enough room

. There was one other detail I forgot to add to Ameena's description, and that was what her voice sounds like - it's sort of high-pitched, but not so much as to be annoying. She sounds almost childlike. And suddenly, I'm wondering whether Petal is a Bard - all this talk of songs and such-like. Or maybe it's just hte way her kind perceives the world. Ooh, these two are gonna just
love each other

"Whoa!" was Haynuus's best reaction that he could muster. The explosion of fire emanated from ahead and more clanking he now realised. They were surrounded, or at least blocked off from their exit. Perhaps they had wasted too much time?... He unconsciously shifted the load in his backpack to make him feel better about the choice that they had made. He looked back, to see if the animated armour had moved, and then hurriedly pushed past the dwarf once more in an unpolite manner. The half-orc made a mental note to apologise to the dwarf one day with a
free-beer-voucher.
He looks at the OH blade in his belt and the heavier two handed weapon that he was wielding. He was no wizard but assumed that the magic blade may be better against the magically animated armour.... He did like the weight of the other weapon though. He changed weapons, with the familiar sensation of air movement around his face once more. The OH blade was the weirdest thing.
Standing 5' behind Ameena he was
ready to step forward should the armour move to attack (1d20=20). "What to do?" he hissed to her. He didn't know whether they could just walk by this one...
And then he noticed what appeared to be an overgrown butterfly hovering in the distance. "Whoa!"

Deephold has the same banded-style armour as Haynuus is wearing, although it does look higher quality (and yes, is silver/white). The mace is a great round ball with a flat from. Ameena might notice that it has a crescent moon like the holy symbol on the front of it. Infact, it means Deephold can use his weapon as a holy symbol. Sneaky. Also explains why he wanted the mace to free Ameena.
Deephold had looked up to Ameena at her words. Obviously, his troubled looks to the mace had been thinking this very thing. He nodded to the murafu. "Indeed. But not here. The sooner the better, but not here. How did you co-"
Deephold's question on escape had been cut short by the noise that distracted Ameena.
Ameena checked around the corridor, while Haynuus moved forward to stay close to the murafu incase of a sneaky attack by something sneaky. Both could see - thanks to a glow around the corner - that another armour had indeed came through the door. It appeared to be stalking something just around the other corner, back towards where
Ameena and Haynuus saw the tiny flying figure clearly for a moment before the figure fell back into the other corridor. The armour raised its blade and stalked forward. There was another explosion - a fireball by the sounds of it, from experience with Falkor - and the armour seemed to stagger back a step. And then, it raised its blades again and moved forwards...
To Petal, she waited to the last minute to see if the creature would turn back or not. Seeing that it would not relent, she flapped backwards as it attempted to attack her, and then unleashed the most powerful fireball she could still muster from the weave of magic around her. The fireball struck soundly around the thing's face and neck. Its helm snapped sideways with a cracking sound. And it staggered back a step with another snapped sound somewhere around its wasit. Unfortunately, the creature's head nor leg fell off. Petal; realised the fire itself was having little effect, it was the force of the spell itself that was doing the most damage. Hadn't her old master taught her the powers of OH and KATH combined were dangerous for the physical force that manifest?
Meanwhile, a little shakily and wobbly, its head returned to be pointed in Petal's directly. More importantly, its legs worked well enough to stride directly at her, its swords raised ready to descend...
And we'll leave it there! Right, so the thing went after Petal not the group, so no readied actions went off. However, I'm not heartless enough to let a 20 go to waste, so Ian when Haynuus next attacks he simply gets to do full damage right away (unless you will use a bull rush or grapple attack, in which case use the 20 as appropriate). Oh, and haynuus couldn't have been five foot behind Ameena and moved and attacked - Haynuus really needed to be planted beside Ameena, sword ready to swing I'm afraid. So I'm goign to assume he was beside her in the map.
Anyway, will post a map. Basically, I imagine Petal is one square down the corridor, as is the armour. The knight is right against Petal, so she'll need to use another acrobatics roll or five foot step to get clear. Obviously, that means unless Petal actually goes around the corner, or tries to fly around the armour, there's no way she can escape an attack next round. Sorry!
Well, no way unless her about to be new friends manage to cause a distraction. Given she's attacked it constantly though, we'll see how that goes.
Come on guys! New player in danger of being stabbed not once but possibly twice!

Ameena sees the second armour-creature, the attention of which is clearly focused on...something. She soon finds out what, however, as the...something...flits into view. It looks like some kind of cross between a blue water-dancer and some kind of small human or elf or...something. Regardless, the creature looks rather interesting and somehow she's reminded of the elemental power of Air she met earlier.
As both creatures disappear around the corner, Ameena decides that, on balance, the flying creature is more likely to be friendly than the armour-creature, though she does worry somewhat that that was where the fire came from. Well, she'll just have to hope that this creature decides not to throw any too close to her...or even right
at her.
Though she has no idea how she might inflict damage upon something that doesn't seem alive, Ameena nevertheless dashes straight down the corridor, sees how close the armour-creature is when she reaches the far end, pulls out her newly-acquired knife, and with a bit of a hop, attempts to plunge it into the joint at the top the creature's right thigh-plate.
OOC - Well, hopefully I can do all that in one go

. I'm presuming I still get the flanking bonus since Petal is still marked as being in the space beside the armour (obviously Ameena will have stopped in the appropriate spot). And also, though this creature isn't alive, clearly this particular example has vulnerable areas so I'll roll Sneak Attack damage too

.
Right then...Attack Roll = FUCK YEAH

. Critical-hit

:D:D. Otherwise known as 30 (20+8+2). Sooo...therefore damage automatically = 21 (3+6+6+6)

. Wooohoooo...first attack with a new wep and the murafu pwnz0rs something

. Well, you know, as long as that damage is actually effective

Crap. I was avoiding casting lightning cuz i didnt want to catch anyone in the AoE. Oh well. Here goes!
Petal realizes she has the thing's attention. Unfortunately her fireballs seem to have no effect. She remembers ab old lesson from her mentor.
"So you see, young sorcen," Master Alothin begins, the crotchety old pixie pointing to a runic diagram he had drawn on a slate with a piece of chalk. "Some things in this realm are not completely incorporeal, but neither fully here. Such creatures cannot be harmed with DES EW, as they do have physical form. As you know, although the void seeks to devour all, with the shaping of EW, it has much trouble tearing apart this which has a physical form, as the Song of EW addedl tto DES keeps the Void from fully manifesting. Unfortunately, at this stage in your training, there is no spell you can use safely to Sing the power of DES on a physical form. Its strength is much too great. There is a Song of Poison, which combines the Void with the Rune of VEN, but that is not something I am willing to teach you.
Alothrin points to the diagram again, as Petal watches intently. "So, you see here," he tells her. "If a creatuure is only partly physical, many times the Song of Ful will have no effect, as Fire consumes things completely in the Physical realm. However, if a being is made up of energy, there is one thing that can attack it. Can you think of what that is, my student?"
Petal thinks on this for a minuite. "Hm, energy. I know! OH KATH RA, the Song of Lightning. It is an energy form, and so can harm the energy being, causing it to overload!"
The elderly sorcerer smiles at his student, his normally querolous demeanor vanishing as he looks proudly on his pupil. "Very well spoken, Petal! You have the right of it!" he congratulate the sorcen.
Petal mentally kicks herself for not remembering that earlier. She can almost hear her master's scolding, telling her that a good sorcen must remember her lessons if she ever wanted to pass her Test. Unfortunately, the armor was coming right at her, and the backlash from a lightning bolt might harm innocents. The people nearby sure didnt sound like humans. Petal quickly flies up, dodging over the armor and flees back to the safety of the others. At least she hoped it was safety. She reflects that even if they wrre enemies, being captured might be better than getting chopped to bits. And at least from this position, she could Sing lightning into being safely.
Acrobatics (1d20+4=21)
Ok, so shes going to run towards the people she heard earlier. When she sees them, she will scan one with her detect good power.

Huh, just realised that unless Haynuus runs, he won't be able to get beside the armour this turn. And I don't think he can attack this turn (Ameena is where he would be able to charge to for the flank). And that would leave Ameena all alone facing the nasty armour. I'm sure she'd be safe though...right....?

OOC - Wow, and the diminutive murafu does more damage than Haynuus!
Can't he charge the thing? Arse!
He had no idea how Garax was faring, he was not out of mind, only out of sight. However what he just witnessed would normally have caused him to bolt through the door and leave the confusing melee to others. However, he just saw Ameena charge the animated armour and not only did she do that... She goes and whoops it's shiny metal ass. "yeah!" he hisses.
He wasn't sure what to do next though. He was carrying a heavy load with his new foul-smelling armour, and wouldn't reach in time to stop the armour from swinging a retaliation at Ameena. All he could think of was saying "More potions please, Mister Deephold" and with that move over the long distance to stand next to the murafu hoping that it might split it's attack between them.
It was then he saw the small flying thing buzz between them after performing a beautiful hammerhead dive over the armour. It was too big to be an insect, indeed he realised now that it wore a tattered dress or cloak!

You can't get the angle for it with Ameena in the way! And sad to say, the crit rolling doesn't work like that, it's only your weapon damage not sneak attack. Still, it's a good argument for getting sneak attack damage, so I'll let it stand (not at 30 though. Much as the rule of cool would be great to adhere to with this)
Petal moved out of the way of the armour, avoiding its twin blades attempting to strike at the place she had been. The acrobatics requires to avoid such a foe were already bewildering, so it was a little much to sudden;y realise she was tumbling passed a set of very strange and mis-matched shapes.
For a moment her mind thought a small pain rat had just leapt at her, perhaps the pet of the large ugly brute of a dungeon dweller that she twirled passed.
However, the shapes resolved themselves a little better in her mind as she realised the 'pain rat' was actually carrying an odd set of pouches strapped to itself, and more importantly appeared to be leaping up and striking the armoured foe with a knife! And with surprising precision too, managing to just reach up to catch a blow at one of the weakened joints.
The ugly - and smelly - brute - cast a cursory glance at her, but seemed just as concerned for the small rat that had apparently leapt to the pixiei's defense. The orc seems to be waving aroudn a sword hilt without a blade, and more importantly was dressed (poorly) in a set of fine looking mail, topped off by an odd circlet. It gave the creature an oddly regal bearing, at odds wit hthe rest of its appearance.
The creature had yelled to something behind Petal, and the pixie's eyes spotted at once something she did recognise - a dwarf. He, too, seemed to be half-wearing a set of fine looking arour, and waving a mace in one hand. More importantly though, she could hear and feel him petitioning the magic around him to form a healing salve into a flask.
Suspiciously Petal opened her mind to those around her, trying to see if their intentions were noble. It was amazing to feel the sensation, after realising she had been in its absence for a while now. She felt the prescence of - for want of a better word - goodness once more.
Meta-game wise, Petal would have wanted to delay until after Ameena got the flank anyway. And narratively, since I haven't asked for initiative, it's easy to justify that since Ameena and Haynuus are reacting to Petal's actions, that they can slot right in behind her and the armour's movements. So they are either acting at the end of the last round, or the start of this round. So Ameena gets the flank and the sneak attack damage...well, in a way...
Obviously, in combat timing detect good will take three rounds, so at the moment Petal just knows there is 'good' around. If she keeps checking instead of using her standard action for anything else, then she'll feel three auras and knows one is strong - since Dephold is above 5th level. I think I justified the good/evil stuff in another thread.
Meanwhile, Ameena had spotted quickly the creature's weakened state, and leapt to the attack./ It was a perfect strike, although sadly what would have crippled a normal mortal opponent was mostly lost on the solid armour. Still, the leg joint cracked widely and obscenly in several places, showing how oddly brittle this thing is.
The armour span around, from attampting to hack at the flying shape that had darted behind the group. Ameena could see at once this thing was not at all like the other armour they had seen. The other armour had been made of a matching set, and had looked in good condition. This armour seemed to have a jet black front and back piece, and the blackness seemed to be interlaced into all the other normal dull metal parts. Except this did not seem to be working well, and the armour was cracking about these joints. The head was partially coming away, and now one of the legs trailed obscenly.
Unfortunately, what was also different about it was that it did not seem to care about Ameena's burden. It rose its weapons to her, just as Hyanuus rushed to her defense. The armour paused for a second, reacting to Haynuus with one wild swing to keep the half-orc at bay while it tried to pin Ameena to the ground with its other sword.
Luckily for Ameena, the delay gave her time to move out of the way, and the sword chipped the floor,
Unluckily for Haynuus, the sword caught him a skiffing blow on his head.
Even as Deephold was trying to rush forward, the armour took an unstead step backwards.
As I said, I'll give the sneak attack, but not the damage. I think 4th edition does let you max the sneak attack dice, because the sneak attack dice are toned down. While I'm borrowing the max dice from 4th edition, I'm doign that because it makes the crit mechanics easier. In 3.5, what you should be doing is re-rolling your strike, and if you hit again you get to roll your weapon damage dice again (but not extra dice). It feels easier to simple let you max the dice (so just under the average you would be rolling anyway) made up for by the fact you won't miss 'conforming the crit.
So long story short, no 30 damage - sorry! Still, it's a weakened thing and you did do some damage, so don't feel too bad :p And you got away with it too!
Haynuus less lucky, and takes 8 damage. Still, better than Ameena taking both hits, right? Lost track of your HP again, I don't think that kills you, but don't recall if you are still in the land of positive hit points. I haven't brought you to 0 again, have I? That would be...rude

Hmm, just realised I've been playing fast and loose with Ameena either being on all fours, or standing, and the implications. Give Ameena's penalties in many situations anyway to do with combat, and given Petal can fly, I think I'm ok with giving Ameena greater latitude with moving around. She still needs others for flanking, or needs ther tricks do do serious damage, and it seems mean to impose the prone penalties on her in combat or make her attack unarmed all the time otherwise!
Everyone else ok with that?
Map:

Oops, I also realised Haynuus gained an additional five feet of movement, since the armour he is wearing is heavy not medium weight. I guess when Ameena is in trouble, and your armour isn't done up properly, you get five feet of extra movement when you run
Translation of the above two fudges: When I've stuck you guys into four tough fights in straight succession without much of a break, I'm not going to hit you on the head with rules that stop you just short of succeeding in combat, especially when I cna drop you quite easily. Though, to be fair I just put you in situations, you are the bloodthirsty and dust thirsty and rust thirsty guys that keep attacking people! My poor guys
Oh, and Raixel, you'll need to tell me if Petal is positioned where you thought she would be (basically able to look at everyone surrounding her, and still able to see the armour)
And oh oh, as to something you mentioned earlier - Lightning bolt is a little more contained than fireball, so actually it won't do area effect wide enough to affect others. While an OH fireball is getting powerful enough to splash out. The trade off between the two is fireball does more damage and a wider areas, but you can get a save for half damage (or no damage for a rogue) whereas lighting bolt does less damage, but more force damage (hence better for armors and DR creatures, etc) and also doens't allow a save for less damage. So there
Edit: Clarification: Lightning bolt does have area, but it's something like half level diameter so won't splash out until the highest levels, whereas I think fireball should be spell level diameter or spell level radius (probably shifted to radius when I knew the levels of you guys weren't changing too much).

OOC - Erm, wouldn't have been 30 damage - that was the attack roll. The damage would have been 21, as stated (3 from the knife plus 3x6=21 Sneak Attack damage). I had just assumed that it was like 4th edition in that all my damage is automatically maxed if I crit. So in future, only the basic wep damage is maxed and I still need to roll Sneak Attack damage?
And oops, was there supposed to be some penalty to do with her getting down or standing upright? That doesn't sound entirely right since her hind paws never change position whichever way she's standing - it's just a matter of hoiking her front half off the ground or dropping it back down again - that's no trouble for a normal rat, so I'm sure a murafu wouldn't be too slow about it

.
Umm...one more thing...what was it...oh yeah, you mentioned that Deephold's "good" aura would be greater because he's above level 5...but umm...so are the rest of us. Well, I am so I'm pretty sure Haynuus is too, since as far as I know we're all the same level, that being 6

.
BIC - Ameena sees that her blow has had some effect - she was right to strike where she did, since it looks as though the leg-plate of the creature might very well give way and fall to the ground at any moment. She recalls that the group had better be quick about this, due to the far-too-closeness of Garax, two mummies, and an elf, even if two of those individuals were, the last time she looked, on the far side of a large and thick chunk of wood.
Having avoided the armour-creature's retaliating blow, she sidles around it a little so that Haynuus, whom she's noticed has arrived and is wielding his Air sword, might have a good chance of helping her surround this thing and finish bringing it down.
Once again, she leaps up and slashes at the armour-creature, aiming for the same spot as before - if they can just make it fall over, she reasons that there probably won't be much further need to be too worried about it, since hopefully it'll be somewhat less able to follow them.
OOC - Obviously that's only a Shift around one square to the only spot I can occupy and still be within range - the space directly south of the armour. I'm not gonna risk an AoO from something with double swords when I've only got 10hp left, thanks

. Sooo, Attack roll = 23 (15+8), damage = 1. Lol...oh well, if this thing's still standing by my next turn I can Shift diagonally up for another proper Flanking attack (as long as one of the others has moved to the spot I just vacated, obviously

). And then I think we'd better all get our arses in gear and sod off away from this area ASAP before Garax, Dolo, and/or any surviving mummies decide to check out the racket

Petal looks at the odd creatures. A bipedal rat like thing? The pixie thinks on this. Hairy...and looks like it lives in burrows. Ah! It must be a dwarf! After all, they were hairy bipedal humanoids that live underground. What else could it be? The pixie seems happy to have finally met one. Her natural curiosity burns, and she cant wait for the combat to end so she can ask the 'dwarf' about its people.
Petal glances at the other nearby being, charging to fight the armor. What was that thing? It looked kinda like a human. But even though humans were ugly, this thing was worse. Maybe it was just a really ugly human. Or maybe a human bred with a trolin, and made it. It wasnt blue, however. Oh well, it didnt seem evil, and Petal didnt really care about physical appearances. She sits and watches the beings fight for a second, reflecting on how sad it was that they both seemed like amazing fighters, but they were so limited to staying on the ground. The 'dwarf's' fighting style especially seemed quite agile. If only it had wings...
Petal watches the battle, not really wanting to burn any more mana. Its possible that these beings werent friendly after all, and would turn on her as soon as they got what they percieved as a bigger threat out of the way. She wonders if they had seen her cast a spell. Maybe it would be better if she didnt let them know the extent of her true power. Besides, she had burned quite a few spells already in the race to get away from the armor.
Petal makes up her mind, and summons her power, while stepping to get a clear shot.. She rubs her wings together to make a static spark, and quickly captures the tiny spark with her magic. She holds the spark in her hand, feeding it energy to keep it alive. Once it has stabilized, she starts streching it back and forth, like taffy. It appears to arc back and forth, growing bigger as it does. When she has a dagger sized bolt, she flings it at the armor by pointing her hands, side by side with the sides of the index fingers and thumbs touching to form the double arrowed symbol of LO. "LOOHKATHRA" she shouts, as thw bolt arcs out from her hands to strike the armor.
Ok. LB is (splv) d?, which 1d3 is force damage? I dont understand what it says in the spell list and im not sure what to roll. or wait a min. spell level damage? That means im doing 1 +1d3 force?? Oh boy! *plink plink*
I rolled a d6 i have laying nearby and got a "2"(actually a 3), cuz I dont wanna go through the trouble of rolling ic on a 1d3. So 3 dam. WOO.

Haynuus is definitely in the wrong profession. While all of his more studious or roque-like comrades are throwing themselves bodily into combat like a wombat on fire(*) he'd have turned and fled. Embarrassingly he finds himself once more having to clutch bits of his body to stop it from falling off (0 HP again, peeps) and his infra-red vision is now tunnelling and he finds himself concentrating on a very degraded black helmet that is
sans skull... And realises that it must be hit!
A quick look past the armour to check for any angry humans or mummys then it's
a short, sharp chopping action with his magic sword (1d20+12=19, 2d6+4=8).
(*) It's an orcish saying.
OOC - I'm assuming that he can only do one action (and not two attacks) unless he wants to lose 1hp and become 'unstable' for doing so... And he doesn't!

Actually, he loses 1hp for any standard action, and cannot fullround action. Remember that your die hard feat means that you can take the 1hp loss and still keep going, so effectively you still have up to 9 rounds of doing a standard action and lose 1hp, as long as no one hits you again

Petal realizes the ugly human has taken a strong hit from the armor. She watches the burly being fly back, and clasp his wound, blood leaking between his fingers, before roaring to the charge again. She flies over to him and offers the flask she filled with healing power earlier. Wuuf's flask.
"Here, take you this." she tells him, trying to remember the Common trade tongue all pixies are taught, but she never had much use for. She holds out the flask half full of bubbling blue liquid to the huge being. She can only hope he gives it back later... If there is a later. "You drink, give back flask me." she tells him again, wanting to make sure he understands he cant keep the empty flask.
That is my next round action, once the lightning bolt has been cast. Its an UM level potion. I'm assuming that moving over to him, getting the flask from her bag and handing it over is a full round.

Ameena finds it harder to attack her foe this time, now it is focused on her. Haynuus steps forward, and the two of them deliver powerful blows.
UNfortunately, Ameena realises that she can't strike the right place, and that the tearing she invokes in its joint is minimal this time. However, Haynuus makes up for it with a strangely silent blow with the air-blade. He swings as if play-fighting, however one of the arms half-falls off, and the armor staggers as the area Ameena just attacked tears wide open.
The half-on arm has a hard time swinging, and combined with Haynuus swaying from his wounds, the blade passes through air.
Unfortunately, Haynuus's condition means he is taking less attention away from the small murafu. Combined with her need to get closer to attack the creature in a weak spot, it meas she cannot pull free in time from the descending blade. It spears one of her back legs painfully, running her cleanly through.
It is crippling, but luckily not fatal.
The armour is prevented from pressing its advantage onthe skerweed murafu when a small jagged flash of light comes from the diminuative flying pixie. A lightning bolt strikes the better shoulder of the armour with a small clap of thunder, and a resounding clang. The is a tortured sound of metal as the other arm tears, and further torture as the armour staggers back, its bad leg now almost falling off. The armour looks in a bad way, as if a still wind would cause it to collapse into itself.
Wow, Haynuus avoided getting run through again, but the poor murafu takes 5 hit points damage. So she's still breathing! Though not if she's going to be left alone...
The pixie falls back from her successful strike when she realises the state of the strange takker creature. Luckily, she still has some mana left to concoct a potion.
"You know the art of healing?" says the deeper voice of a short and stocky humanoid, with a well tended beard and carrying a similar flask in his hand.
Deephold tries to gauge the situation, and is shocked to realise that Ameena is still in harm's way...
Ok, so both Deephold and Petal will be in position to use their flasks on Haynuus if Haynuus wants to use them both this turn (they can do the heavy lifting, so if he takes a five foot step back then he can use them both as move-equivalent actions.
Of course, that leaves Ameena to either try and take out the armour herself, and risk the double attack. It's possible, but highly unlikely, Ameena would die from that - but it would be very bad.
Still, if Haynuus does try to be the hero, but neither of the two take out the armour this turn, Haynuus could - through bad luck - be killed outright taking one of the two attacks. While a fresh Haynuus can guarantee rescuing a dying Ameena.
Choices, choices

OOC - Well, that hit wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was - but it did halve my current remaining number of hp. So yeah...gonna get a bit nasty if I take another hit. At the rate Ameena's going, most of her blood's gonna be on her fur instead of inside her body, lol.
BIC - Ameena manages to inflict a little further damage upon the armour-creature, but she squeals in pain as the being retaliates by plunging its sword straight through her rear hind leg (OOC - unless you wanted it to be the left, of course - it wasn't specified so I just chose one

). She staggers awkwardly on her three remaining paws, having been forced down flat onto the ground by the sword's impact. Fortunately the knife remains beneath her right forepaw so is easily picked up again. She is aware of an unfamiliar voice speaking nearby (OOC - What
does Petal's voice sound like, anyway?), but since it doesn't seem to be saying anything threatening, she doesn't pay it too much attention, nor whatever Deephold seems to say in response.
Now no longer able to stand upright, Ameena feels somewhat at a loss as to how she might properly injure the armour-creature. To slash at it with the knife again would mean reducing herself to standing on only two legs...and those both on her left side, which somehow she's pretty sure won't work. And not only that, but she can't really achieve the same height she could a moment ago. Still...
A friend is for life. Life is for friends.
She inches forward and plunges the knife into one of the joints in the armour-creature's foot-plates, flattening her body to the ground again as she does so in an attempt to put a little further force into the blow.
OOC - Alright so I realise there's no mechanical inhibitions from losing a few hp, but narratively you can't really stick a sword right through someone's leg and expect them to still be able to walk around

. I'm not sure if I'm flanking this thing right now (if someone's moved over a bit then I should be) but I'll include the appropriate bonuses anyway - you can just remove 'em if I'm wrong

. Sooo...Attack roll = 19 (9+8+2), damage = 18 (3+6+5+4...the first number listed is always the basic wep damage - if I'm not flanking then the last three are the ones you need to ignore

). Hopefully the big metal booty will just crumble away or something and Ameena's almost-last-ditch effort won't have gone to waste

. Though of course, there's the fairly high chance that she's about to get collapsed on by a load of bits of falling metal

.

Haynuus notices the two souls behind him with potions in hands but takes the gamble. He sees the poor murafu take a sword through the leg and so this boils his blood some more. He doesn't know which twisted mind constructed this thing but to him they have to rate as low as those who perform necromancy. With a howl and a curse
he swings his blade once more into what would be the things chest (1d20+12=26, 2d6+4=10).

Despite the wounds and the danger, to two companions determine not to let the abomination stand. Ameena's powerful blow takes the thing's dangling leg from it, and leaves it no defense for Haynuus to cleave the head from its shoulders.
There is a moment of extreme clattering and rust, and what was one a danger becomes nothing but a jumble of damaged parts. The two swords lay at its side, and sitting glinting in the light was the black breastplate.
And that's a win for you guys! Ameena and Haynuus are now arranged around a pile of armour and two swords, and have a dwarf and pizie looking bewildered behind them.

Haynuus is covered in blood with his chest heaving heavily. "We're like... Frenzied barbarians, Ameena and I." he says to the little pretty flying thing. He takes the flask from her, assuming it to be water, and is pleasantly surprised. He
empties it (2d6=7) and hands it back. "Thanks!"

Ameena is somewhat surprised when her knife plunges more or less straight through the top of the armour-creature's boot-plate. This is accompanied by a grinding of metal as something goes on directly above her head and suddenly it's raining plate metal. She moves back slightly so that she doesn't get hit by any of it,and belatedly realises that it was probably Haynuus who finished the thing off.
Not particularly able to sit back in relief at the moment, Ameena instead sort of slumps to the side, panting from the pain in her hind leg and aware that most of her insides are probably leaking out of it onto the stone ground right now, with not very much she can think to do about it. She vaguely wonders what the Darkstone will do if she dies - maybe its power will die out as well.
She belatedly remembers that she does, in fact, have a healing potion in one of her pouches. She can't remember which one right now, and wonders whether she has the strength to try and find it. Then again...
She looks around for the nearest set of feet, knowing they'll be Haynuus's, and from her current, slightly awkward position follows them upward with her eyes until she has to stop somewhere in the region of his chest.
"Are...you alright?" she asks, discovering at the same time that it's really quite difficult to talk properly whilst trying to deal with the pain of having had a long, sharp piece of metal stuck straight through one of your legs.

"Oh just fine. Happy we're all alive." He looks to their new companion. "I think... We should move!" He beckons to the murafu to start scampering as she seems to be still shocked at looking at the mess of her leg. "Chat later!"
And with that he starts shifting down the corridor towards the door out. Passing the dwarf he passes on the VI potion and says "Give it to Ameena or maybe you need it?" Haynuus is a spent force until they rest, and he knows it.

Petal turns to the short 'human' who spoke once she realizes the armor is no more. She realizes that the ugly human is telling them all to run, but she is interested in what the short human said to her. As far as she knew, the common word 'art' described creating something, such as a painting created for the enjoyment of others, and healing was to cure wounds.
"Healing...art?" she says slowly to the 'short human'. Petal blinks in confusion as the burly ugly man shakes his head at the short human and her, and hands her potion back. Why wasnt he taking the potion? He looked like he was going to fall over any second. Perhaps that being was insane. Oh well. It was probably for the better. She didnt want to hand over Wuuf's flask anyway. Petal puts him from her mind, instead concentrating on forming the words of the little-used common language. Their words seemed backwards somehow.
"Oh. Mean you to sing VI Song into flask?" Petal looks confused. "Of course. VI song is song taught first to sorcen when train they for Test. Even pixie who have a gift little, not full, sing VI song. Sorcen that have gift weak, not can sing song of UM, only LO." She hopes that answers the strange human's question. Having to speak Common was hurting her head. Maybe she could get one of these beings to teach her the correct word order. For now, she would follow them. They didnt seem to be allied with the other humans.
As they leave, she asks "Know you mage Falkor?" to the group. She figures their answer would be a good test of what kind of beings they were. Anyone who would ally themselves with that mage obviously wouldnt make a good companion.
So, she thinks Ameena's a dwarf, and Deephold and Haynuus are humans. She has very little contact with other races besides elves and sylvan creatures. So even though she can speak and make herself understood in Common, she really cant speak it well. She will follow the group, talking to Deephold and asking her question about Falkor.

OOC - Quote: "Petal blinks in confusion as the burly ugly man shakes his head at the short human and her, not taking the potions" Haynuus took Petal's potion (and handed it back again), but not the dwarf's
See above.
Haynuus bobs and skips along the corridor worrying about which sword to carry and if mummies can smell the trail of blood that they're all leaving behind. It was then he stops suddenly.
"Falkor!?" He shouts and then immediately clasps a hand over his mouth to be more careful. "You've seen him?! The last time I saw Falkor he was invisible!" hissed the half-orc suddenly realising just how confusing he sounded. "I mean, he cast a spell to disappear."
He continues moving again, and tries to gauge on the faces of the others if they knew the flying fairy-thing as well. She certainly didn't seem to indicate that she knew any of the others and the dwarf or the murafu didn't react with any warmth to her. "He's insane that halfling." he continues. "I'll buy him a beer for charging soldiers wearing black armour and painted white skulls with fire... And then later I really wanted to kill him when we were being attacked by Soorec... No Sooroc... No Seeroc... Agh, an insane gnome with horrible creatures that have bits of people's body all sewn together. Bright Eyes is what they called him."
He wiped his forehead and cast an eye over the pixie. "So... How do you know him?" All of these spell casting types just left him uneasy at the moment.
