This is for anyone who, like me, finds the weirder parasitic creatures interesting to read about.

The whole article is amazing and disgusting at the same time, but if you want to see something both fascinating and horrifying scroll down to the video of what looks like the edge of a a swimming pool and watch it. Its the second video down. I couldn't stop watching. It was like "WTF, ew....Coooooool...OMG! Seriously!?". Also the one underneath the swimming pool one. But I couldn't watch it, once I realized what was going on. Just....wow.

Note, its not gross in a blood and guts sort of way, just gross in a chest burster from alien on an insect sort of way. I declare that creature the most repulsive thing ever Its worse than the snail-eye parasite.

Hmm. Firefox popped an "untrusted site" warning when I tried to go there. While not as bad as this actual "known bad site" warning, it still is something to note. Heres what the details said:

love2d.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

Interesting that its an https site in the first place. Is there anything being sold on there?

I don't think so. It looks like a normal internet forum - like ours. Well, not that good as ours, of course, but similar.

I think you have to change the Firefox settings. Don't ask me how.

Sorry I didn't mention it. Maybe it's to avoid bots. I roam this forum often, I'm even toying with their engine/library.

^^^ Cool, but also weird. Touch technology was a big shift in user interface manipulation, but I think the lack of touch in Leap is just going to be extremely odd. We're sensual beings, and waving arms around in the air has already been proven to be a tiring way of controlling a computer. It's fine in hands-free things like XBox Kinect or Wii, because those are imprecise and for short term use, but I can't imagine that long-duration touch free control of a computer would be very practical. Also, if that thing responds to my arms within the area around my screen, how the hell do I use my keyboard without messing it up?

On the one hand, I can see that this is inevitable (and in some instances, actually practical), but on the other hand, it's going to make HCI exceedingly weird for our generation who have grown up with touching our computer controllers... I also think it's removing the human asepct of things to the point where we have no relationship to the technology anymore. Maybe that's the point. Perhaps I'm just stuck in the past, but I'm pretty sceptical about the long-term practicality of it...

That said, at $70, it's cheap enough to give it a spin, but I doubt i'll find it more than a gimmick

Well, I'm definitely going to stick to the keyboard and mouse. I have no need to wave my hands around like an idiot or accidentaly hit a cup of tea when trying to write an article.

that's the kick, $70 for something I'll use occasionally.. it's reasonable.. Remember that windows 8 promises to be much like and Iphone/android type touch interface.. it's made around this multi-finger action. This is cheaper than a number of other touch devices and if you want tactile.. just touch the screen.. it's not as if you need to hover..

Hm. I like the idea. But due to my paralysis and being unable to do a lot with my left hand, I really really hope this doesnt become standard. My friend has a touchscreen laptop. And he finds that he doesnt use it much, it just ends up being faster to type/do stuff with mouse and a keypad. And when he does use it, the screen ends up smeary from fingerprints. Which wouldnt be a concern with this, but Im not sure I want my hands up in the air for as long as Im moving stuff around. Most people can type faster than they write. Even me and I only type with 6 fingers.
Like Gambit said. Cool, but gimmicky. To me it seems like all those recent sci-fis come to life, the ones where they have a holographic image/keypad projected out in front of you that you wave your hands through or whatever. Someone saw taht and went "ooh, yeah, we could do that". And I'm wondering how itd work for my comp set up, considering my comp is my 30in HDTV, with the tower on the floor next to it and I sit a good 8 feet away in a chair with my keyboard on my lap and my mouse on my knee in front of the keyboard.

I tried using an air mouse, didnt like it for the same "waving your arms around is annoying" concept.

But for 70$, might be kinda fun just to play with!

Ok, Linflas, I just noticed your post about that French-language animation. Was it on in the 80s about a boy called Esteban who was a "child of the sun", like had some sort of weird magic? I LOVED that show as a kid. I dont remember much about it cuz I was really young when I watched it. All I remember was tiny bits and pieces, other than the fact that for its time in America it was way cool. I have *never* been able to find any information about it, even though Ive searched for a long time.
