Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
Yes, that's it
The 2nd part takes place few weeks after children discover the first City of Gold. Quite funny, when you imagine that those "few weeks" are almost *30* years in our time !

These serie is imho the most addictive that Jean Chalopin created. He's also creator/producer of lots of famous 80's animated series : Ulysses 31, Inspector Gadget, MASK, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors...

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
that's funny how translations where different for the same cartoon : Dogtanian and Willy Fog have never existed here. We used real names from the books : D'Artagnan and Phileas Fogg.
I have to admit that I'm still a big fan of those. I keep preciously most of them in DVD collector shiny boxes and love watching them again sometimes !

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
OMG! I'm so happy! For so many years I swore I dreamed up that whole show, that it didnt really exist cuz no-one here has heard of it. I used to go "Do you remember this show about conquistadors and a boy called Esteban who had some kind of magic power and they were trying to find the cities of gold?" And everyone would go "Um. Noooo." Seriously. Like 15 years ive been wondering, and eventually just kinda forgot. I couldnt even remember enough about it to look it up online, and it wasnt until I saw that Youtube vid that I was like "Holy crap!"
It must have been on here when I was about 4-6 or so on a cable kids channel. And not for very long either. But I loved it. I'm seriously going to go see if my memories match the show cuz all I remember is a good guy who was kind of stupid and in my mind kinda looks like Lupin 3, I think he was a conquistador, but with the good guys. A bad guy named Mendoza who wore a cape, and a weird chick who wore a weird headress who I think was from a place called Arcadia who had some kind of magic. I think she had something magic on her arm too. Oh and the main character, Esteban.
But all the other ones you guys are talking about I dont remember at all. Like not even the names. Musta not been on here. Except for Inspector Gadget. I used to pretend I was Penny and had a computer book and computer watch when I was a kid. I still have a couple VHSes that Ive had since I was like 8.

Thanks, Ian!

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
Lol, to be fair that was a phrase in the theme song, so it's not completely out of left field. Oh great, now I'm singing the theme tune again, brokenly.
"Children of the sun, someday soon you're going to see, something soooooooo oooooooo ooooomething holds the future holds the key. Doo doo do doooooo. Aaaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaah aaaaaaaah. Doo doo do dddddddddddd, cities of gooooooold!" Or was there a line about running and a line about destiny instead? I don't remember. If I youtube it it will never leave my brain

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
Not knowing anything about Dora the Explorer, I fail to see the joke

Re: Cool stuff you've found on the web
It's the hollywoodisation of any property and the insistance on makin a mature/action film out of any property - even an educational american TV show. Actually, after Battleship, I don't think you can make any jokes weirder, except perhaps Hungry Hungry hippos. And to think that used to be a crazy joke, now it's just a witty comment on the actual state of entertainment!

I've only played 1 and 2 because the others were not made by Ron Gilbert.
The problem is that you can really enjoy these games only if you have enough time and you don't use a walkthrough - if you can't devote enough time to it and you look into the walkthrough everytime you think you're stuck, you probably won't be able to resist the temptation and you'll sooner or later play it mechanically, finish it in a few hours and miss 90 % of the fun and atmosphere. That's when the Internet is not that good. I was lucky enough to play it as a kid with no walkthrough, so - although I got irritatingly stuck sometimes (like it took me many hours to find out that you have to so I had to try using "everything on everything") - I really saw it all and had a really great time with it.
