I had a load of trouble figuring out what I needed for getting the wand, myself!

It wasn't until I played through a second time that I noticed something that I'd ignored before, and completely forgot about it.

Out of sight, out of mind, as they say.

Yes ! I finally did it :D
This Neta altar had me stumped for a very long time, it was more by accident than by good reason that I could solve this puzzle. Actually, I was near to giving it up altogether (all those hints back in this topic couldn't help me). Maybe I'm not so much a person of faith :) . But I'm glad about this 'accident' as I was very near the end at that stage.

Very good work Sophia!

Hope this thread's still somewhat active.

I've been playing Dark Portal all week, but now I think I'm really stuck. I've had plenty of time to make detailed maps of everywhere I've been, and I'm guessing that I've missed something. For example, I have yet to encounter the Coatl, even though it's supposed to be "fairly near the beginning." Ditto on the Power Towers.

Here are the farthest areas I've reached:
the room with the Zo symbol, the Magic Box's alcove, the Neta alter, the "Desire" room, & the not-Manhole's roof (I think those are the extremes). I've defeated of the Floating Eye, but gotten no farther than its area, & I've found a use for the Vi, Neta, & Gor alters.

Some of the items I've found:
Crystal Blade, Talisman, Wand, Platinum Horn, Magic Box, & the Silver(?) Sphere.

So far, I don't have the Druid's Staff and I've been unable to combine anything with the Crystal. I still haven't gotten past the weakened trapdoor (nor have I found anything from deep within, which will let me past it, either).

So, is there an obvious area I've missed somewhere, or is it some object which I'm lugging around that I haven't used correctly, yet?

A hint where I should look, please!

Thanks,

Once you've solved this one, you should find that everything else falls into place!
RicochetRita wrote:(nor have I found anything from deep within, which will let me past it, either).
Ahhh - that's the problem. Instead of looking deep within; try a little closer. In fact, right next door!

No more hints for now; you've clearly solved alot of the puzzles on your own so far so I don't want to spoil this one for you. :D

Thank you, that's perfect.

I thought maybe I'd gone too far on that one.

Yup, finished it. Score of 106, I think.

The frustrating part was I'd tried that particular solution for the trapdoor, straight off, but I did it in the wrong way & convinced myself that it wasn't "it." So, only after I went back over *everything* did I try it again. Had a similar situation with the scorpion.

But all in all, Great fun!

Thanks so much for the nudge & cudos to Sophia for designing!

I am completely stuck on the scorpion and the neta altar. I've tried just about everything I can think of on these two and I'm totally stumped.

I think there's loads on both those problems earlier in this thread. I advise reading through this whole thread, therefore, if you haven't done so already :).

Oh, I have read all of it. I guess I'm just not good at logic puzzles. I've been able to figure out a lot of the rooms from what was done originally in Shadowgate, along with the more DM-style things sprinkled in. I'm just having a rough time with these two puzzles and I haven't been able to work it out even from the clues people have given here.

Well, for the scorpion, consider what it uses against you, and find a way to build yourself up against it.
For that bloody Neta altar, consider what someone of huge devout faith might decide to carry with them.

Interesting showcase of how the engine can be put to different uses.

I never did get past those two spots but I kinda gave up before I started beating my head against the wall.

Then to explicitly state it, though the thread should have given you the clues

a) click the altar carrying nothing, ESPECIALLY not the gaudy cross - true faith has no proof

b) you need to keep making poison potions (spell in the cells on a scroll) and drinking them to innoculate yourself again the scorpion sting - about four or five times should do it (text lets you know)

Beo, I hope you don't mind, I edited your post a little, to make the blatant spoilers tiny. :)

I was on the right track with the scorpion, I just didn't realize I had to drink it that many times. However, the Neta altar had me completely stumped so I appreciate the help. Once I got past those two I figured the rest out. I really did like this module and I hope you make more puzzle-oriented ones, Sophia.

I've just beaten this dungeon. Pretty awesome work.
Unfortunatelly I couldn't find anything to activate the man-hole so I used this glitch mentioned before to grab the wand.

The rod I'm think about is easy grabbed,

but only if its support is down .

Yes, but your RTC character may well emulate those traits. Just try again

Hmm, Joramun is good at hints, I don't have anything to add just yet... if you get really stuck and want something a bit more spoilerish feel free to PM me. :)

I thnk the best hint is that, while this game is not Dm at all and throws you with it's mechanics, it then sometimes throws you with it's DM mechanics :D

Since this thread popped up again, I thought I'd give DP another go... and strangely, I have got hardly anywhere compared to the first time I played it!

I'm missing the key for the ruby lock in the room of fires.

I can't get past the pit near the silver arrow.

I don't remember these being difficult before! Any pointers?

Been a while - i think you need to do alot to get passed the ruby door - remember to check every wall item and so on

The pit by the silver arrow is a really later puzzle, you can ignore it for now i believe

I've been wandering around for hours and there's nothing else to do.

I have a ra kay and no door to open with it. I can't do anything to the couatl. I've clicked on everything with everything. Climbed up and down all the pits. Got various scrolls about what to do at the end.

There's simply nothing else to do?

Ok, so you solved the desire rised riddle and carried on.... am playing along now, will try to see where you are and linflas are stuck...
