I am slowly but surely creeping my way towards something past whatever I am now. I don't post half as often as you guys, and I didn't take full advantage of the leveling capacities of the Christmas thread, but I'm more of the slow-but-steady person. Look at me going through the dungeon itself. Though I still need to start a new game on this new computer...

PaulH wrote:Excuse my total stupidity, but I never knew you did the clock change thing across the pond. I thought it was a strictly British thing started by Scottish farmers with seasonal defective disorder.
The idea of "Daylight Saving Time" is not strictly a British one. I am surprised you didn't know that most countries nowadays use it, Paul.
And as for starting it: It was the American President Benjamin Franklin who first thought of it.
Then it was first advocated in earnest by a London builder.
Anyway, the US usually changes their clocks on the first Sunday in April - we change the clocks on the last Sunday in March. And BTW, for several years now, it's called European Summertime, not British Summertime.

Benjamin Franklin wasn't a president. He was just an all-round amazing guy. He was pretty much everything else you could possibly be - a true "renaissance man", if you will - but not a president. But I'll forgive you for being mistaken on that, as you're from Saturn. ^_^
Oh man. He really was a character. I'm not even really into history, but there's something about Franklin - he's like someone out of a completely insane novel, only the rest of the world is relatively sane and not like the novel at all. I would like to be able to accomplish one tenth of what he managed in his life.
As for DST - there's some rationale for it, that has something to do with people liking sunlight when they're awake and darkness when they're asleep, but beyond that, I really can't go into scientifics as I don't remember them. But I know it serves SOME purpose and that's why most of us do it. I think. Or else we like conformity.

I don't remember, but I think that's right.
I swear my title changed or something in the past couple of points. Maybe there's another one at 225. Or else I am losing my mind.

Yes indeed, we do make mistakes Paul, but there is a difference between making a mistake - especially when it comes to a name of someone from long ago and, I might add, sounds like one of the Presidents (I was thinking of Franklin D. Roosevelt for some reason when I read the name - and not being aware of something that is happening now.

Well I don't know everything. And what I don't know I try and find out about, (except DSAs...), hence why I asked Selie. Thats how we learn. And I am willing to bet people know more about Franklin than daylight savings!
Anyway, this is quite funny:
