Well, if you won't take my hint and read The Hobbit, what can I say? It's five times the same item, solve it once and you've solved it for good.
Don't ask why five, though. Six or twelve would have made more sense.

I'm not aware of a master map but then again, I haven't yet set foot in the cartographer's guild...

As for the Wizards' door post, I could give you some half-baked justification about the mages being tricksters and all that, but I think it comes down to having no other spot available because everything is so tightly packed there. It doesn't appear that way at first, but in time you'll come to realize that there's more to the guild halls than meets the eye.

EDIT: Whoops! You DID quote the riddle properly. My bad.

Think priest = natural, so you are looking for a natural container you can't get into without breaking it basically

yes, i figured it out just after my last message, the clue does not really help you except something of treasure inside, that is what helped me out, but to tell you the truth, finding where to put the items was the hardest of all, i needed a location, and i knew something was odd and couldn't remember how i got into the ninja guild. since i have opened all the guilds except one cause i'm missing one item, i have went up some levels, feels good to advance finally, i've just obtained a new mace from the games room, whoa, so cool

thanks to you all for helping me out, time to try and finish one of these endings, i'm not sure what to expect, i'm stuck in a few areas still :?

As I'm slowly reconquering what i had done before losing
my savegames in Conflux, i have a few small questions :

* Are there irreversible choices that prevent to reach one or more ending ?
* And choices that prevent to go to some areas / areas that can't be explored in the same game (because going in one closes the other(s) ) ?
(for both previous questions : do that include characters choices ? )
* Have anyone finished the game with the maleficient guild / hell unleashed / both ?
* Is it interesting to unleash hell after having progressed in the game ?

Well, since alot of endings rely on a guild leader, then the first one would be who you end up taking! The power gem can block off the area, so best if you have it to then use it and end the game, or to leave it lying.

Otherwise, I don't think so...

I've got far but not that far withthe malificent guild (actually, with one charatcer only, weee) but that was a few versions back

Hehe, I think I know have a quite correct party to roam some deeper levels.
...Getting ready for some major undead slaying...
I found a couple of very funny or stylish weapons.

I also like the way Zyx modified the name of some items so that you feel like you have a super-weapon, while it's just an average bludgeoning device.

What I like but is always daunting is how a small area can actually house an intense mini-dungeon, you never know if you are goign to quickly explore a new area or be lost for days.

Hehe, a page from the CSB playbook, apparently. :)
The "Biter," that fearsome unique weapon, is actually exactly the same as the much more common-sounding "Sabre" in DM. Oh well. ;)

Hehe, actually, I was thinking about the replica of Vorpal blades : Voidness Edge.

But my best weapons aren't the most stylishly named. They are actually two cute daggers.

I haven't played III. Don't tell me if you fail, "You're fired!"?

I don't think so beowuuf, I did meet the strong demon with red eyes, on the sudden death level and went underwater and found myself back in the sewers level, found letterings on the wall. have it all in my notes somewhere. The water and soap thing i just didn't finish scrubbing the floor i guess :) , i didn't get to the chambers, and couldn't find the bleeding kipper that would kill vecna, i found nothing that seemed to be fake, oh well, i might try it l8r. what other dm clones have been made like this?, i can just only imagine how good these dungeons are going to be with GGs RTC options. What a blast! , who says an old game is not worth playing.

was i suppose to be able to have the one ring in the coucil room?

Yeah, you need to keep scrubbing! A whooole level opens up!. The underwater level is hard, as you say can lead back to the sweres, but there also seems a few new thigs to play with now like riddles!

Bleeding kipper - umm, do you know the phrase 'red herring'? :D

And no, i tjhink the one ring should not be takeable either! A bug I think!

And yes, the apprentice level has donald trump destroying aberdeen's beach with one hand and saying 'you're fired' with the other! Damn him!

I got 5 points, a unique whip/rope and i'm fighting golems and lizard demons.
Conflux III is really a masterpiece.
It's big and I tend to roam without really knowing what to do.
I don't even know how I should reach any of the ending. No clues, really.

Enter the competition! As it stands, this score would put you in the top spot. :D

Also, I have a question.

Is there a trick to defeating the archmage of Mampang? Brute force works well enough, but I can't shake the feeling that I missed some simple, elegant way that did not involve freezing his life 'till next Sunday and blasting him away with spores... Tangentially, said method might also secure one or both of the cerberi that are visible through the south wall there and that the archmage doesn't "drop"..?

The archmage should have a protection against freezing.. I'll see what I can do for next release.

As for the cerberi, they're only part of a mechanism. To be consistent, you shouldn't see anything but sky through the walls of the tower, however I had to pack everything tight since those were the 16 levels days...

That soap and water and keep scrubbing room has me stumped. I've tried all the possible water spell combos. maybe I'm missing something.

lol, the clue is in the question as they say

Have to tried pressing the water fountian and then using the correct spell?

Is the "see through walls" spell the correct one?

Posted: Sat Jul 14, 2007 1:47 am
by beowuuf
Nope!

The clue is in the text you get when you click on a fountain. You need to use the spell on each dirty square to wash it clean

AH! Tricky Zyx!

I've killed the council, but does that prevent my party from finding the traitor?

Posted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:09 pm
by Parallax
No. They are totally different endings. Independent of one another. The only outside consequence of killing the council is a point of detail that barely bears mentioning.

The guy at the "surface exit" scolds you for killing the council and poison gasses you, instead of scolding and poison gassing you for not getting on with the mission. Yeah, like I said...
