Sip, I will be away from the 27th until the new year as well, it's a good time to note that. South of France, weather permitting!

Sounds cool!

Without just pulling some evil and unfair twist out of my arse, not sure I can really do anything suitably dramatic to leave us as a cliffhanger, but I think I will basically call time on the game until January after the next update or two.

I might leave a teaser thing on the forums for anyone around to look at.

Anyway, so expect tonight/tomorrow morning or tomorrow lunchtime as my last offical update before the new year. Thanks for a really cool year people! Game will properly resume on Monday January 3rd, with stirrings the weekend before that. And I might be floating around between Christmas and New Year, but won't be looking for any gaming posts.

And many exclamation points ensued.

Indeed! Many! :D

I'm back home now, will catch up with everything - sleep included - and see where we all are at Monday/Tuesday. I'll probably not retcon the Petal stuff too greatly looking at things in the cold light of day, and instead have Petal's parallel activities making it very easy to recover Deephold to the point that he can use the dangling as an opportunity to scan the area - just like Petal could.

Anyway, you guys have a good New Year's, and see you all in 2011 I hope!

You know, beo. I can always change it. I just threw that out there when i got home immediatly after a harrowing journey across the mountain passes in a blinding snowstorm. Needless to say, I wasnt feeling exactly creative at the time and was more concerned with catching up as I wasn't expecting to not be able to post for 5 days while i was visiting the family.

So serioulsy, no biggie if it would be easier for me to change it.

Nah, parallel spiking sounds sensible, plus is pretty easy to retcon.

And youch, that sounds like an epic journey. So, basically you play my game to escape the exitement of real life with something less harrowing? :D

Raixel's got a cool bika culture write up that I'm hoping she'll share *poke poke*. Only scanned through it, notepad loved putting the copy and paste into a weird format!

How's everyone doing after the holidays and stuff? Getting back in to it?

Well, my "holidays" weren't too much different from the rest of the time - just had a few more days off, that was all ;). Though I go back to my normal hours next week so I'll be back to working just three days a week - yaay, more free time to get on with the Dragon Knight Saga :D.
And club is back now too, as of this week - tonight is our first Dark Heresy session since before Christmas so I bet I find I've forgotten half of it, lol. Confusing, that game - too many numbers...

Definitely getting back into it. :) Missing lazy holiday time though. :(

It would be good to see some more background stuff developed, so I agree that Raixel should share *pokes some more*.

Ok, bika culture stuff is going up soon, as in late tonight/tomorrow. However I have had a house guest for 2 days, kinda leaving me not much time to run around on the net. I will post the culture list in sections, with replies to each section, as I believe the entire document is like 4 pages or so and I have never tried to post anything that large on a forum so dont know how it will handle it.

I also have a sylvan dictionary im working on, as well as a pixie culture doc that is still in its infancy. What can I say I'm an anthropology major, I do this for fun. If anyone has been working on similar stuff, id love to see it as well as hear comments/ideas/criticism of any of it.

Well, as I've mentioned before I have plenty of details on the Murafu stored away in my brain somewhere (or ready to be thought up if it's something that hasn't come up yet) is anyone's interested ;).

Of course, I love what ive seen so far and would like to see more! If you(or anyone else) have the raw ideas, but dont have time to write them out in a game-manual type format, email or forummail them to me and id be happy to craft them into a usable form. We can go back and forth until you are satisfied with whats on the paper (it matches your vision of the race) and then post it for everyone to read.

Lol I have no trouble with writing out my own stuff - in fact, I'm actually opposed to the idea of anyone else trying to o my work for me, or whatever ;). About the only thing I can say, really, is that if you want to hear more about the Murafu, maybe you could suggest a bunch of headings pertaining to them, and I'll write something to fit into each one. It saves me trying to think of it and ending up with too many or loads of overlaps and stuff ;). You know, headings to describe different aspects of them, like "Appearance", "Social structure", "Raising of young", "Interactions with other species", all that kind of stuff. if someone can give me a list, basically, of all the aspects of murafu life that they want to know about, I'll fill in the gaps ;).

Comments to the previous IC posts:

@raixel:
Spoiler
Petal could probably intuit that the 'sickness' in her friend would be partially a manifestation of how her subconscious was reacting to the mana twisting, and partially just her own manifestation of her friend as a child-like being (spinning around until he was sick). I did kinda leave it open as to if it was just that, or the situation too, so nicely picked up :) And Petal won't be able to feel any mana bleed without actually touching something and opening herself up to it. And that, of course, might well be where the hidden eddies that Chaos was warning about, and Haynuus has spotted the manifestation of :) Petal could try to intuit more or gain a general sense, certainly - that would be an arcana roll. But she won't sense the blending in this case from the song of the mana - it's very much a physical twisting of the surroundings, where rock sings the song of plants if its in a plant area, and vice versa :) That last opart was metagame-y so you get the sense of what's happening. And hence why the song is both discordant and perfectly pleasant! Wow, long reply!
@Ameena: The water doens't smell of magic at all. Given Haynuus's comments, you can maybe guess why - its temporary nature passing throguh the area means it isn't affected.

I do mean to go over the bika stuff properly and comment, but for the moment each day I see to run out of free time without doing anything. Madness! For example, why is it 3pm already???

:(

First external commenter in a while (new user too) just copy/pasted a tv tropes article into the time-y wime-y debate. So either a spambot or just really unimaginative.

Clever to use actual human content, of course, and of course tropes sounds like a forum post. Except for the odd insider terms, kinda gives the game away!

Anyway, we have a full house of posts, but i'm off to work early so update will be at lunch or later this evening.

Ameena, Im writing a list of questions about Murafus. Will PM it to you hopefully sometime tomorrow if Im not too busy. I cant wait to see what you write! So far, Ameena (the char) is a very well fleshed out char, and im really interested in seeing how her people shaped her.

Hehe sure - just let me know what you want to know about the Murafu, and I'll post it up - I'll probably start a new thread here so anyone who's interested can check it out. Quite a bit of stuff has come out in-game, but mostly as private thoughts or a passing comment, since the current situation is distant enough from the Murafu way of life that many of the skills and pieces of information that Ameena will have picked up during her life aren't so useful.

Getting details on another race would be great, to get as much background for "our" DM world as possible. I had some ideas on how the religions/High Lords would be organised (more Greco-Roman than Judaeo-Christian, mainly because by definition the religions based on High Lords would be polytheistic) but never even thought about writing it up. Maybe some day.

I will read the Bika background when I have more time - I read Petal's backstory a few days ago and it was really well written.

From small references to large realises treaties, I'm enjoying everything people are bringing to this version of the Dm world! :) More! More!

Obviously, if you guys wanted to continue playing in the world after this game ends, and Raixel wants to DM, there was already a small hook Raixel herself pointed out. What happened to her village while she was trapped? Might be a nice jumping off point to explain why everyone carries on together afterwards. Or a rallying cry later to bring you back together from your various endings.

Hehe yeah, I saw it too - were Petal to suggest to Ameena the idea of investigating her village, Ameena would most likely be happy to try and help a friend, though she might then find herself a bit torn if she receives invitations from any of her other friends to go with them to see/do stuff. She also really, really would love to see at least one fellow murafu again, but then again, once she's in the open world, the chances of that happening are quite high, since although the world is a big place, murafu wander it all over the place, and they know each other's ways so she'd know what to look for in terms of signs that another murafu had recently been present in a particular area :).
