Ameena and I have kind of predictable favorite characters.
As far as reincarnation names, I generally just name people what their original names were... I did give Halk the last name 'Davidson' last time I played with him, just as a quiet reference to Viewtiful Joe, though.

I tend to name my characters after LOTR and Hobbit names (usually Sauron, Thorin) or after pieces of my hifi equipment (Cyrus, Marantz) and even my bike! (Zaskar, Shimano)

Yup I go for LOTR names too (even though I'm not a big fan, the names sound cool)...
Daroou = Beorn
Elija = Gandalf or Saruman
Gothmog = Gothmog or Sauron or Indur or Khamul or any other Nazgul
Wuuf... stays Wuuf
Boris = Frodo
Linflas = Legolas
LOL @ Marantz & Shimano, Paul !

My sister, my cousins and I used to play around with the CSB portrait studio for hours. Our creations were usually mockeries of the original characters, anyone we didn't particularly like. I don't remember much, but we stuck a pink bow on Wuuf's head and called it (him? her?) something like "Fluffy the Vicious." We thought we were funny.
I tend to rename characters after real people. My sister and I had a DM game where all the characters were named after my friends, and when we got the SNES game, we named our party after our favorite teachers. Gothmog was Mr. Brostrom, the 7th grade science teacher who terrified everyone but was still really awesome. Tiggy was Mrs. Pocsik, the 8th grade English teacher who joked about being a witch. I don't remember who the other two teachers were. We used the teachers' first names, which made everything funnier (naturally, teachers' first names are hilarious when you're a student). That was probably the most interestingly named group I've ever had.

My favorite has always been Seri or Saros from DM2. Seri is HOT and Saros just has that shadowy mage-type quality.

back to the daroou topic:
According to the nes portraits, he looks furry. ALL RIGHT!
If you take a look at the dm version of daroou, you could say he looks furry. OKAY!
If you consider the csb updated pictures of the dm champions, daroou looks like a muddy mud pile and not like a furry beastie; hence my imagination of daroou being a mudman; so i could be completely wrong, most likely i am.
it doesn´t matter what exactly daroou exactly is, it is a good thing it is not 100% ascertained.
At least for me.

I pretty sure after trawling through a stinking dungeon for a few days with fur like that, he would get covered in mud anyway.

LOL exactly Paul !!!
I agree with zooom too, Daroou's CSB portrait is very weird... Muddy...
But I've always known him with the DM portrait so I'll stick to the furry version I've always loved.

Daroou's CSB portrait was taken just after he finished DM !
Look at all these muscles ! Carrying all the party's stuff and punching all these monsters is quite a bodybuilding exercice.
Imagine Swartzie with fur.
...but I played CSB using the DM portrait of Daroou.

BOO-YA! also looks a bit like another guy put the outline of Halk's chest over Darouu with a thick black marker...afterwards

Wow, he does look weird in that picture. His mouth is very muddy. But I still think he's furry.

Maybe he muscled up so fast he outgrew his fur coat and it stretched out and hasn't had a chance to fluff out again yet

And maybe he was in the middle of eating a caramel apple when the picture got taken. It's like the embarassing photos you always see.
"Hey Daroou!"
"Huh?"
*snap*
"Dammit, guys."

It just looks to me that he has very weird facial anatomy, but I still think he's fuzzy. I think of wookiees more easily than any sort of mud-men in fantasy, and since DM tends to pull its characters from generic fantasy ideas or specific known worlds...
Any word from FTL in the "why we used the names we did" thread? I don't remember offhand...

Yeah, acoording to Andy Jaros, Daroou is "Chewie's cousin". That's all he wrote on the matter.

Well, first of all, hi everyone around here.
I used to play a lot on DM on Atari, then Amiga. And now again and again on PC.
Each time, I set up a team, I have a bad habit of including each time Gothmog. Not because of his skills, but for his look

My favourite, as you can see from the ava, is Sonja.
She and Leyla Shadowseek are both my favourite. Unfortunately, both have hardly any mana so I am not using them anymore.
I try to get through the dungeon with just 2 champions since I find it very difficult to keep 4 of them alive - both food and water is getting less and less and having to feed 4 of them is just too much.
So I am trying to keep them down to 2.
At the moment I am playing with Leif the Valiant and Hawk the Fearless, simply because I want both to be able to fight AND to have enough mana. So those two are therefore my favourite - among others. LOL

Beginning mana is easy to solve. Just go down to the first dungeon level and do warcries until they reach novice priests.

Leif, Hawk: great all round characters. Along with Stamm (of course) and Elija, these are my favourite people.
Is it still cold on Saturn?

Thanks for the tip, Without Remorse. I didn't know that was a way of getting your mana count up.
And yes Paul, it's darn cold - considering how far away from the sun we are... But our underground cities are all heated so it's quite enjoyable down below. Above ground, you will need a lfe suit anway.

Silver? Pooh... we don't use such inferior metal as you have on Earth. LOL

And can you imagine walking around in a metal suit anyway? It's difficult enough to walk on Saturn, never mind wearing a heavy metal suit.
