Yay - finished (and without any further hints :D ).

However, not happy about the solution to the stone demon problem - I only solved that "at random". I've subsequently gone back through the dungeon looking for somewhere that hints as to what the solution is but couldn't find it - Sophia, for my peace of mind, can you let me know where it was?

BTW - I also only solved the puzzle behind the demon at random too - but have subsequently found that there was a clue (in fact, the complete solution!) in the dungeon

Other than that, great fun - thankyou!

He he - I hadn't noticed it was a palindrome!

Just concentrate on the desire bit.

Bigger hint: Or better still, just the desir bit

someone succeed taking the book ?

where is the ra key ?
You need to solve the desire-rised puzzle first - once that's done, lots of areas will open up for you to explore.

Do what is says on the wall.

What's above the source that's causing you to die?
ZoKathRa wrote: Also, one of the spells wont cast. I select the runes, click on them to cast the spell but I get no response. The runes just sit there in the menu bar.
Yes, I thought that too - in fact, so much so that I thought it was a bug in the RTC engine, but eventually discovered it's not. Instead, something is missing - once it's there, then the spell will work.

To work out what you need, consider what the spell is and what it might do to various things given its description. There's an "obvious" candidate item to be holding in your hand when you cast it.

Hmm... it's no use. I'm guessing there's an item I need that I don't have, to solve the puzzle with the trees?

And I can't do anything to that manhole cover shaped object on the roof.

ok, ok, I give up. I figured the desire thing, I've got the ra key but still can't find the key for the door in the room with the fire pit, or how to close the pit in the corridor behind the secret wall near the beginning.I folowwed the advice of thinking in 3-d but am now completely stumped. Any suggestions?

Oh you don't need to close the pit... You got the desire riddle solved, that should give you everything you need to get past that pit...

As the playtester I will just say that alot of the satisfaction of the game comes from solving an unsolvable puzzle...and it's a shame I had to ask as much as I did sophia stuff (since I've got to spot if somehting is a bug or problem with me).

Or, in other words, keep plugging away rather than looking at this thread (you know, unless you've spend two days looking for a solution)

George: That's odd aboput the stone demon, unless something has changed I was waiting for a stone demon thingie to be able to use the solution on... the clue should be where you find it, isn't it, on the scroll?

i have now the ra key and the key that open the door to the troll.

but i'm still stuck.

i have tried to change the false gold into real, but failed

i have no use for the ra key ...

any help is welcome
thanks

If you have the sound on you will hear the sound of the wind at the troll area... this should mean something to you...

There was a poem that gave you hints on the unreadable scroll in the library. Of course, that assumes you made it readable, first. ;)

Which part are you stuck on? The acid fountain, the wall writing, or something that comes after?
ZoKathRa wrote:I can't do anything to that manhole cover shaped object on the roof.
Walk around the area a bit. Perhaps inspiration will strike.

Don't' worry about that - solve some other things first and you'll find you will be able to get it.
TheMormegil wrote:Can't do anything (useful) with the acid fountain.
Hint 1:There's something inside it

Hint 2: You need to find a way to get it out

Hint 3: Without damaging your hands
TheMormegil wrote:Can't solve 'you raise you left hand i raise my right' riddle, i think i probably don't have the object yet.
Correct.
TheMormegil wrote:Can't kill the flying eye.
There's a message somewhere about how to do that.
TheMormegil wrote:I necer killed the cuital back near the start.
As with all the monsters, you need something special to defeat it. When you find the item, you'll know that it's function is to kill the coutal.

It's not a stone golem. It's different from the monster found in DM / CSB isn't it...

That's important.

Nope (or at least, it wasn't obvious to me that I'd found the scroll - and looking through the scrolls I have there's nothing that leaps out).

Not intentionally. This is a bug in RTC. :(

None of these items have to be used more than once, so this doesn't make the game unsolvable. However, I think it creates a rather difficult situation, as it's very easy to get it to that state. :(

George: As sophia said, it was the unreadable scroll, sorry! So yes, you have to solve the scroll to get that clue. I guess you went the VERY longwinded and quite unsatisfactory way then! :(

The solution to the scroll is both obvious, and yet un-DM like enough that I got what to do without doing it - because of course you and sophia had got together and added a mechanic!

I think finding something to protect my hand is the problem.
The scroll about a star from the sky is about the flying eye?
I've tried all my spells on him.

Can't think of a good hint for protection, I just stumbled across it - Sophia; one for you!

The star in question is a physical item - you'll know when you find it.

Ohhhhhhhhhh - I get it now.

I thought it was a map - it never occurred to me that it was text.

Now you've pointed it out, and then going and doing the obvious thing, yes it would have saved lots of time

You'll know it when you see it, but be warned, there is a bug in RTC that causes the item to disappear when you unequip it-- I hope that you didn't find it already and cause it to vanish! (And then save)

Perhaps it's not a spell then. Think a bit more literally. ;)

Been doing reasonably well (which should b expected since I played the original Amiga version), but I'm stuck trying to get the wand -- how can I close the door to stop the poison blobbing me?

Do the rubber boots need to be used more than once?

Kind of a spoiler, so I'll reduce the text size-- If you have the gear, you don't need the rubber boots anymore.

I think my problem might be that I haven't opened the gold key door.
Where should I look for the gold key?

It's actually rather near the lock. If you don't know where, think about what else is in the room, and how you might interact with those objects.

Lol, this is where unexpected DM-ness will raise its head

There is a general interface way of thinking that might be un-DMlike

If you think about it, anything held in the mouse icon is being directly pressed to the wall object. It isn't really being used. So sometimes using an item's action is better, and sometimes you passively 'use' an item in another way while doing something else.

That might help you with a few of these puzzles

Sorry, I didn't notice your post. :)

I've already mentioned this in a couple of posts, though, and George gave a pretty useful hint.

If you need a little more of a nudge, feel free to ask again, though. :)
