Bugger! You beat me to it. Here's my 24, for posterity:
24

Halk wedged himself in the gate way, attempting to keep his weight off the floor, and the rest of the party backed up.

Sure enough, a click, a grinding of cogs, and the weighty portcullis started to creak it's way up the runners. When it reached the top, Halk jumped down, pushed his fists into each door runner, and shouted "Go!".

The party sprinted forward...

If Halk is in skeletal form, go to 26.
If Halk is of flesh and blood, go to 27.

Edit - recycled!

Heh, thanks. I should actually be doing real paid-for work but I got a bit carried away!

Love your halk paragraph! :-)

Glad you like the HTML version. It's rudimentary at the moment. I'll jazz it up when I get some time. I've edited the first post to add the URL in there and a note of how far the conversion has got.

I think Beo was slightly inebriated when he wrote 23.

You think? ;-)

Stone cold sober, just in a criminally fast rush to pack!

Why? What's wrong with it? 0.o

Ok, both ian and sophia's entries made me laugh - ian for the minotaur randomness at the end, and sophia's for the whole thing really - ok, the conflux references and the perviness!

Keep up the good work!

I'll try to apparently keep the good work less weird then :D

Nowt, not a criticism. I usually get lost jumping from numbered section to another section. With this particular one for some reason I got lost between the paragraphs

I think I could have named a few people between paragraphs just to keep it clearer, and, of course, perhaps kept the general activities saner to begin with, but then I remembered it was christmas story and lacked the incomprehensible weirdness due the the gamebook structure :D

Just trying to do my bit to keep it unreadable random! :D

Actually, now it's my turn to be a bit anal (though I think it's a major plot hole)-- Following the sequence, #31 happens long after the portcullis has already been opened and passed, so the choices make no sense. :(

Ian Scho's 31 doesn't take account of Skeletal Halk.

How is the spell supposed to work if Halk has no fleshy appendice to hold the door open ? There's a bone of contention here.

Very good Joramun, I like the joke. I was trying to be clever. However, the 'exit' number, 24, DOES take it into consideration...
I'm happy to change it, to your suggestion.

Hmm, time for a correction, Sophia is right : the portcullis is wide open by a Ful Bomb from Gothmog in 31.

I'll correct it, just got to run a bath (20 minutes for emersion heater to refresh for last bit)

Don't worry people! We'll get there :D

Hoh, looks like I got it very wrong then :? Too much mulled wine or something.

A grate correction, Beo.

Ok, can I suggest that for Jor's entry, some dead ends get written in :D

Nice entry though, who doens't love puns on ebay and paypal!

Lol, and there is a result of um... oh ...eeew perfectly captured by ian in 36!

You might wanna mention Gothmog using the bottle to rehydrate!

Bugger, I foget that there was a reason we were looking at the bottle in the first place. Like I indicated before, I get lost in the story line and really need to read three sections deep to get a proper grasp as to what is going on...

Ok, I will be internet free until the evening of the 2nd. Hopefully everyone can keep up this great thread, and manage to resolve all the niggles that come up, and keep track of it

All the mods should be able to edit the first post if needed anyway

Have wacky fun, see you on the flipside of 2007!

Yeah, I have to agree -- 7 choices is way too many, we'll be here forever trying to complete the story. As Beo noted in his intro to the whole thing, 2 or 3 choices is better as it's easier to manage for everyone and retains focus.

I'm back home now and will sort out HTMl of the latest pages in due course.

It was intentional, because I was so sad there wasn't a single real *dead* end yet...

You people are too nice with the players. I remember playing role books
where I couldn't win a game without maxing out player skills and cheating
by going backward from entire trees of dead-ends
(like choosing a way that had only dead-ends, but that had a depth of 4 chapters at least before seing it).
