Actually not, more like shield-bashing

If I didn't find this Auto Mouse utility some years ago, I'd still be expert in everything

Btw archmaster ninja only took several (well, lots, but I'd say a day or two) hours of using "hit" (superfast cooldown).

Numbers are fun and pretty.
I know for me, I was waiting for CSB, so it was my DM fix while reading, etc to take on rats of blow through mana. The fact I never got CSB in the end (stupid out of print game still being advertised) or that my characters would have been way overpowered for it is neither here nor there!

Different people have different goals and playstyle

I can understand your question though! I have always been a perfectionist. I played DM several times before, but this save is a result of learning stuff about the game.
And also, keep in mind I have been on this save for over two years - I would do several hours over few days, then leave the whole thing for a month and so on. Since it's a kind of macro, naturally I don't sit behind the screen the whole time. I start it and do stuff around, checking the pc now and then. When the chars are hungry or thirsty, I go half the level back and kill worms on the way back to screamer treasury.
Believe me or not, I never got bored

Octopuss...wow. I have never had characters that high. The highest I got was on-master wizard (which went up to mon-master with the pendant feral and the firestaff). Actually I had assumed that on-master was the highest you could get, because several times I reached that but never any higher. What is the Auto-mouse utility?
Linflas - I can see your point but I must say I enjoyed the screamer room, it felt like home. You didn't have to wait for them to regenerate, just ignore them for awhile, and then do a cull. You could go exploring (up or down), hunt worms when bored, practise cool spells...I liked it. That said I have just started DM again and got to the screamer room. It was a bit weird seeing the place again (I know it so well, even after all these years) but I don't think I will have the patience to level up very much this time.

Ha ha, that is brilliant! DM was just so well designed to mess with your head that you could believe something like that!

It is a nice little utility where you can create simple scripts to click mouse buttons.

Impressive champions' statistics, Octopuss! Well done!
On the other hand, I'm a bit curious - what's the point? I mean - I always spend some time training in the Screamer room, and similarly in the Rat room (usually to get the lowest Master Fighter and Wizard levels - when I want to export my characters to CSB, to have them better trained). But this is a bit masochistic, isn't it?
It reminds me the old good Warlords strategy (another old great game), where I would sometimes capture all the cities except one, and then travel with one of my heroes through the whole map to gather all the treasures and visit all the shrines for blessing to create a super hero (in tens or even hundreds of turns) - it was interesting, but a bit insane.
Anyway, what are you going to do with your super-champions now?

The point is the achievement

Like I said, I barely have time for games last months and there are other interests, so I just start a macro when I am at the PC and got time. Let it run, kill a few worms. Leave it for few days. Repeat. Weird I know

Yeah, me too! Sometimes I throw "everything but a kitchen sink" on a creature, everything I have at reach. I once threw a key on some creature and the key got stuck in it and the creature ran away and I had to follow him for ages and search the whole level for him to kill him and recover my key back.

Hey, me too, however only in dmjava, as it works very badly in other versions.

Cool. I can see that your characters are masters in everything, and WOW, all of them have above 700 health and 300 mana points (in my normal
solo-run, my champion has about 400 HP at the end and 200 mana). Wow, Wuufie with 54 strength! OMG! You must have spent a lot of time training them. Well done! You seem to be well prepared for CSB!

I am curious what my stats will be like if I bother getting to archmaster fighters and wizards

Nice, I have never had characters with stats that high. I am at the same stage as you, just getting ready for CSB, but the highest character I have is um master. Health about 400, mana about 200. Maybe I need to load my DM game up again and start practising, but I just get so bored of having all my characters chop or punch (which is why I have never had a character more than a lo master fighter or ninja).

I think that should be enough, Brother.

Now don't just stand there and go to CSB!

Ha ha, yes I am going to get onto it! Week after next my champions jump into the dark to be surrounded by worms.

"(v) Bringing the bones you found on one of the later levels back to an altar of vi, and being disappointed that no-one appeared."
Absolutely. I was completely expecting a champion to appear, thank me for saving them and then run off. I also remember part of the story in the manual where the Grey Lord says something about how some of the people that went into the dungeon were turned into monsters by Lord Chaos. I was hoping to see some signs of that but it wasn't to be.

I always imagined that many of the screamers and other creatures you encounter were once champions, twisted and transformed by the evil magic of Chaos.
That reminds me, did anyone else feel sorry for that mummy near the "This is my prisoner, let him suffer" inscription? I remember looking for a way not to kill him before giving in and feeling a little guilty about it.

Look at it from this viewpoint: killing that mummy only eases his / her pain; and thus releases the mummy from suffering. Killing that mummy is actually an act of mercy.

That was exactly my take for my DM story. Some creatures were born of magic, some were normal creatures summoned, and some were once champions twisted by dark magic.
If I can ever get back to my DM story, I know exactly who that prisoner is whom Lord Chaos is displaying to the party

Oh, c'mon, don't be such a coward.

This all is meaningless, so one meaning more or less wouldn't make any difference! Please! PLEASE! We don't need a meaning, we need a NAME! Pretty please! Pretty pretty please! Pretty pretty please with a sugar on top! I'll give you anything!*

Ufff, I think I'll read this when I get retired. Or I'll be waiting for an abstract.

Thanks, anyway. The amount of work you do (not only) for this forum and for the whole DM community is amazing. *bows*
