Fingers, sorry.

Helm looked to Ameena not comprehending. Ameena realised that one of Helm's plans had been to simply knock Brohur and then run the other direction. Thus Ameena speaking about making Brohur run the other direction while them being behind the blackskull soldier does not make sense to him. Also, of course, Ameena realises that Helm knows full well the soldier is tough - althogu hhad not been actively thinking about exactly how useless his plan to surprise the man might have been - but is now terrified because Ameena has stopped him to tell him how bad it would be to be caught out i nthe middle of nowhere not moving. As they now are.

"What do you mean?" he asks, not knowing what Ameena thinks she wants to do. A fraction to loudly, as it turns out. Although Ameena has managed to move and speak without being noticed, Helm's words hiss out during a lull in the noise. Brohur stiffens, and begins to turn around...

The sense motive will carry, so you'll know what Helm is explicitly thinking. The bluff of 3 I kinda shifted to the fact the way Ameena said to distract Brohur isn't in any way one of the options Helm was thinking, so he has no idea what she means nor how to help.

Anyway, so Ameena and Westian - you have a Brohur about to look around. Think fast! :D

OOC - Can I assume that Ameena did manage to climb up Helm in order to speak to him, since it's been implied she was able to do so? So she's sort of hanging onto one shoulder with her forepaws while her hindpaws are probably sort of gripping around his hips or something. Just to clarify where she is. Well, where I think she is ;). Also, since I've checked and it doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet, what's Brohur's current situation regarding weaponry? I'm guessing he probably has a sword or something, but does he have it drawn? I'm guessing he probably does, considering he was standing nervously on guard and something nasty might have come at him from the direction of the battle or something...

BIC - The soldier is turning round. But then he'll see the whole group! Maybe it's better if he only sees one of them...
"Wait here!" she whispers in Helm's ear, realising she's echoing what he said to her just moments before. She tries to think at him that he'll probably be more likely than her to get hurt and that it's easier to help a wounded murafu than it is a wounded human. She has realised that her attempts at communcating in this way don't seem to be working, but she decides she might as well try. Just in case she eventually manages to get through.
Then she leaps off Helm and scurries over toward Brohur, trying to keep as quiet as she can but not going directly toward the soldier. Instead, she veers right a little, so she can go around him without coming within reach. She intends to run around to the other side of him, so she's roughly between him and the sound of the battle. Then...well, then maybe he'll see her and not the others...and then maybe someone can sneak up behind him and...and do something to stop him from shouting. Though she hates to see others in pain, she is aware that hitting someone on the head can cause them to instantly fall asleep, so much so that they can't immediately be woken up again.

OOC - In case I need another Stealth roll for the legging-it-forward-as-quietly-as-possible, Stealth = 29 (14+15). If the previous roll carries then never mind ;). If she gets around Brohur okay then I'll post what I want her to do next, though she might have entered his line of sight by then so it'll be down to him to react and then I can post what she does in response.

And Ameena's journey to the dark side begins, oh so late :( First it's distact people while other people hurt them, then it's ok, maybe blackjacking them asleep isn't too terrible, then it's a terrified blackjacking someone to unconsciousness, and not paying attention to whether they will ever wake up again, and then it's just good old fashioned dual wielding knives and sneak attacking people to death then biting their throats out. How sad we'll miss the journey :(

Anyway, Westian will see Ameena's mad dash, so yeah, let's see the reaction there!

In a way it was better that Deephold and the Trolins were not aware what was happening just yet Westian thought to himself. Things were crowded enough already for a sneak attack.

"Lets go" he whispered to Petal and moved forward as fast as he could without becoming separated from the pixie. Ameena would surely reach the soldier first, but if anything went wrong at least they would be close by, to hurt or heal as the situation dictated. As for Falkor, once again no one knew what the enigmatic mage had planned.

I know what Falkor has planned :D

Petal said some words that were clearly sylvian, and very likely curse words. She moved forwards with Westian, already uttering words of magic. Westian was not familiar with the spell explicitly, but it sounded the same as the one she had already cast - she seemed ot be conserving her mana, recasting invisibility as needed and not burning her whole reserves. Of course, this meant there was a danger a distraction or need for another spell would leave the pair of them visible....

Meanwhile, Ameena had moved with deft swiftness. Even as she ran her footfalls were silent, and luckily her movements were only spotted by Brohur when she moved in a swift brown blur passed him. His attention was pulled towards her, and did not catch the human thief reeling from the departed murafu in the dimness beyond.

Brohur seemed shocked and jumped backwards, and then his brian resolved what he had seen. "That pain rat, here?" yelled Brohur, lifting his sword to cover his twrror. And then his demeanour changed.

Ameena stopped by the source of the noise - it was another pathway, most likely the path of reason finally emerging. The noises were grak-grak screams, and human screams, and odd dull thumps and clunks. Fighting. Brohur stepped forwards, using the dim light for the path of reason and the dim light from one of the torches to realise what he was seeing. Why he had pain rats in his mind, who knew. However, now he seemed to recognise Ameena. "You," he hissed. "You fled once, come back for your friend? Well he's with the gnome, good luck getting that thief back in one piece." The soldier then started moving forwrds. "Or surviving in one piece."

However, the soldier then frozen again, and stood out of his predatory move forwards. "Or are you alone..." he said speculatively.

Yeah, once again there is the danger of Brohur turning around unless Ameena can keep agro, or Westian jumps in, or both. Afetr all, this isthe same situation as last tiem with Ameena and Brohur - Brohur paranoid about Ameena's friends, especially Haynuus, and therefore prbably not goign to believe she is alone. He's stil la little scared of the half orc. Goodness knows why...

OOC - Ahh, murafu don't and can't lie, but that doesn't mean they can't cause someone to become misled... Oh btw, what weaponry does Brohur have on him (that we can see) and does he have anything drawn right now? In fact, not just weaponry - previous soldiers we've met have had potions at their belts - does Brohur have anything like that, or indeed anything else visible?

BIC - Ameena remains on all fours in case she needs to move away suddenly. She listens to Brohur's words and his mentions of Helm and Soorec give her some vague idea as to what to say. She lowers her gaze slightly and lets her ears and whiskers droop, though keeps fully alert for any movement Brohur might make in her direction.
"Oh yes...Soorec..." she says, thinking of their most recent encounters with the gnome. "We...we found him. He had Helm, and...all those grak-graks. He...he died. Helm, I mean. My friend."
She pauses, wondering what else she can say.
"It's the worst thing, you know. Being alone. For a murafu, that is. We'll try to seek out any company, just so we're not fully alone..."
She looks back up at Brohur, whiskers twitching slightly.

OOC - See? She didn't tell any lies there. Anything Brohur wants to assume from that will be his own conclusions :D. And hopefully he'll keep looking in her direction while he does so ;). Note that she will have stopped not too close to the corridor entrance - she just wanted to get around to that side of Brohur so that he'd still have his back to everyone else. She'll be out of his reach and away from both the Path of Reason and the pit, as best she can be in such a position at the moment anyway :).

Ameena's journy to the dark side will soon be complete!

Can you roll me a bluff check, please? And Westian, can you roll me a stealth if you are approaching....

Brohur has a sword, thought I mentioned it. Nothing else like that visible.

OOC - Okay. Is he holding the sword? I'm guessing so. And Ameena wasn't lying - she didn't say anything that was untrue...so should she still need to make a Bluff check? Helm did die, and murafu don't like to be alone - if there's anything she may have neglected to mention, then...well, then Brohur should need to think to ask about it, surely? ;)

Bluff is used to convey information you want to convey, not information you don't. So while that usually means 'lie my ass off and be believed while not having any tell-tale nervous ticks and hesitations', it can also be used for a) non-verbal communication since you have an amount of control of yourself to convey the correct message, and b) getting people to believe what you say is the truth, even if it is the truth.

If you really don't want to roll to influence me narratively, I'll go ahead and make Brohur act how I want him to act :p And if you only want to roll a charisma check, that's fine too, less bonus, but bluff is applicable and the one you use. Don't get hung up on the name of it because of its primary use.

Westian rushed forward, hoping to catch Brohur off guard. He initially planned to barrel into guard, and knock him into the pit.

But he found that while giving orders or talking about killing for the greater good was one thing, it was very different when faced with the stark choice of pushing a man to his death personally. He slowed down slightly, realising he could not do it. He told himself there were very good reasons. That he would risk alienating the group – perhaps losing Ameena forever. And that the soldier could be a useful source of information.

Both of these were perhaps true, and for whatever reason as he approached he changed his mind. Knock the sword from his hand. Have him surrounded and unarmed.

Stealth was 11 + 8 (dex) - 2 (ACP) + 2 (ROS) = 19.
Don’t know what I need to knock the sword out – while Brohur is facing away invisible Westian will bring the staff full force down on his forearm. I don’t know if I am close enough to do that, but here is a roll anyway: 6.

Brohur ripped his helm off, sneering. "Just wait until I had you back to Drommal. You snitched on your friends once, I reckon he'll make you snitch on your friends again. Especially that Half-orc and that half-pint wizard. That or he'll give give you to Seeroc, and you can have the same fate as your friend."

Brohur looked nervously behind Ameena to the noise of fighting, and so took a step sideways instead of forwards, clearly trying to ensure she could not escape without making an actual motion towards her to actually take her hostage. He did lift his arm, yet did it with resistance. For sudden;t, Helm was on his wrist, trying to stop him.

To understand why Helm had moved forwards was to know that WEstian was moving forwards swiftly, Petal keeping up with him on her wings. AS they passed the human, Petal had said, "help her!" Helm had not looked around nor seemed shocked, perhaps he had thought the voice just a mental manifestation of his own will. The thief had moved with surprising swiftness directly against Brohur, as if to pull the soldier back or perhaps even wrestle the sword from the soldier's grasp.

Of course, Ameena's words were proven true - Helm had no hope of doing anything ot the imposing soldier. His face turned, and there was a moment of recognition. "Liar!" he said, though clearly the words were addressed to Ameena, and clearly his glee was based on what he was to do next, for his face and eyes twisted in to an angry scowl.

Westian's staff appeared at once, and the half-elf a moment later. It shocked all around, Brohur most of all. Ameena had pulled focus perfectly for the two invisible foes to get right up to the soldier, and Helm's aid kept Brohur's sword arm stationary perfectly. However, Westian also realised that with his memories returned - and his odd alternate memories - his skills had improved since last he had met these soldiers. They were strong and skilled, but these were not the battle hardened legions Gholst had once commanded. At least, not the smoother armours soldiers like Brohur. Brohur's sword was smashed from his hand with skill, and Helm staggered back in as much shock as Brohur.

The blackskull soldier staggered back towards the room-wide pit circle, trying to keep the four figures in view. "I knew it," he hissed, looking to Ameena. However, all his malevolence and gleee had obviously turned to fear. Unfortunately, of course, the four has all opted for non-fatal means of confronting the soldier. That meant he was still free to open his mouth wide and-

The man's eyes crossed as his jaw was locked. It was as if an invisible force were holding the soldier's jaw shut. A moment later, Brohur's eyes crossed and he very slowly fell forwards on to the ground. Whether unconscious or dead was answered a moment later. Slowly a ghostly figure appeared in the air behind where Brohur had stood. To the side of that figure, n an instant, stoop Falkor.

Sir Farel - or his ghost, it seemed - stood and looked to the four heroes he had once stood with. In one hand a ghostly sdword was held, the pommel of which appeared to have been administered to the back of Brohur's head. "Aldur is safe with the elementals," said a ghostly voice, recogniseable and yet not as belonging to the once knight. "I paid a price I would gladly pay again for his safety, and yet...at a cost too that did not sit well with me. Not anymore." Sir Farel looked to Westian. "I saw you talk before and I felt I had acted correctly. Yet I saw you act now. I believe yur are a good man. I wish I could help more, already my concentration...it fades..."

Sir Farel shook his head, white whisps disappearing. He seemed fainter and fuzzier. "Cleric of Larethian, as you once guided me back to Ardur, now let me go knowing Ardur will have a new guide. His path was never violence. Perhaps you can show him new ways his parents would understand." Sir Farel then turned to Ameena, crouching down. His body became fuzzier still, wafing inside itself. "Ameena, I am sorry I will never walk with you outside this place, and speak with you of your people. If they are all like you, and all shirk violence, I regret I will be able to do nothing to help keep their innocence directly." Farel's legs and arms by now had become whisps, his body a strange cloud. Only his hand and face still retained its form. He held out the ghost of the sword, dropping it to the floor. It had disappeared before it hit the ground. "Find the real item, a weapon yes but one blunted to show that violence never has to be the answer. Find it and my armour where I fell. At least take my sword back to my people. Tell them of your own people. Tell then Sir Farel Somnuth used his Death Oath to promise your people will be protected and championed throughout the four kingdoms."

Farel's face once more looked to Westian and nodded, before it disappeared completely as if a cloud blown away.

And there you have it, what happened to Sir Farel when he left you :( I was actualyl going to hold him in reserve until the end of the game, especially given the hard line Westian was going to take with Brohur. And the idea was origianlyl going to be - afetr you guys took your lumps, and unless you came up with something much better, Falkor would have persuaded some of the other ghostly forces instead, weakening those and perhaps leading to a nastier ending of Brohur and the possibility of warning the rest.

Instead, of course, you guys managed a decent distraction, plus I loved Westian's chage of heart - noble or not is arguable, it seemed to justify Farel's help :D

Mechanically, Ameena pulled focus successfully, so I had her give Westian a stealth bonus, with the understandign that if it still failed, the AoO for disarm would have a +2AC bonus against it. Instead, sicne Westian managed great stealth, I decided that Ameena's actions stopped the AoO from triggering, and would also give a +2 to the disarm. I also had Helm attempt an aid another (narratively justifying him coming back to the fight) for another +2. Luckily, Brohur crapped his disarm resist, so down went once sword!

And I decided you guys had done enough that Brohur was distracted and helpless enough to have Falkor finish the matter off :D And all without any party bloodshed, whihc, you know, I didn't think you guys would get away with.

Anyway, so there we go - temporarily, there is fighting going on right beside you fro mthe path fo reason by the soudns of it, but otherwise your way to the main hall is clear. I'll post a second post to bring the rest of the group - really just Haynuus, sicne I think Ian is back today or tomorrow - and then we can move on from there.

Sorry to say, I'll be distracted Sunday to Tuesday evening, so expect Friday/Saturday update to be a cliffhanger. Still, feel free to use the lull to talk tactics!

Meanwhile, back in the path of light, Haynuus still stank of dissolved grak-grak. He'd been stuck at the bottom of the pile, luckily the heat of many Trolins on top of his had compensated for the biting cold of the grak-grak itself. And luckily Haynuus had managed to keep a hold of the many tentacles that were flicking around, until such times as Aurek could chop of the bitingly biting head of the thing. Haynuus could perhaps swear he heard it croak in relief at being killed, but such fleeting impressions were overwhelmed by the stench of the black goop that the thing then swiftly dissolved in to. A goop that frozen quite quickly to ice, so that Haynuus's over-large tongue was temprarily stuck to it.

Still, it gave him something to keep his mind occupied with until Uumack had yelled at the Trolins to get off the half-orc, and Aurek had then managed to help his comrade up.

The group quickly moved forwards, perhaps surprised to see that the other gorup were holding at the start of the path. The Trolin king and Guree - the female Trolin with a deadly crossbow - were whispering an argument. Deephold was standing looking lost between one and the other, apparently trying to tell iwhat was being said, and hand dangerously on the clerical mace in case violence erupted. Both Uumack and Haynuus could understand that Guree was apparently speaking quickly to the Trolin King and trying ot persude her king that the bulk of the Trolins should actively go after the blackskulls and grak-graks, in order to provide a temporariy break for the rest of the group to go to the main hall. It appeared that the Trolin King had perhaps hoped to be in the main hall, to confront the blackskull leadership. Either that, or the thought of confronting demonic grak-graks terrified him. It was hard to kow if pride or fear was at work.

It was Aurek who broke the deadlock, though not in a way that was directly to do with the discussion.

"Deephold! Where is Westian? Where are the mages and the rogues?" The paladin pointed to the very edge of the path of light, and the completely empty spot where the rest of the champions should have been standing. Except they quite clearly were not.

OOC - Aahh noooo, Farel :(. Well, at least it sounds like Ardur is safe...but aawww...what killed him, then, or is that something we'll have to be told at a later time?

BIC - Ameena wishes to point out to Brohur that nothing she said was untrue - after all, Helm did die at the hands of the grak-graks. She just neglected to mention that they'd brought him back to life again afterwards.
However, she gets no chance to respond as everything happens rather quickly and soon the soldier is lying face down on the ground. She hopes he isn't dead.
Then she sees what apparently caused the human to collapse - Serfarrel! Or rather, his spirit, it seems. She feels saddened, especially as he starts to speak, to explain that he's dead. She gathers that Ardur isn't dead, and hopes that he's safe and that she can see him again at some point. Serfarrel then bends down to address her directly, even as he seems to be dissipating into the air. She has no idea who "his people" are, nor where she might find these objects he speaks of or how to carry them back to his people. But she'll try. Maybe some of her friends here can help her.
Then Serfarrel is gone. She feels, in a way, almost relieved - yes, he is dead, but it seems his spirit was able to go off to wherever it is spirits go when they've left their bodies. She hopes that's the case, anyway. And she memorises his words - Serfarrel-Somnuth, Death Oath, his people, her people, sword, armour, forkindums...she doesn't know what some of these words mean but she remembers them anyway.
Standing upright, she reaches out as though to touch Serfarrel before he disappears completely, but it's like trying to touch smoke - her paw passes through the wispy vapour as it dissolves into the air.
She turns to look up at those nearest to her.
"I think we'd better get moving." she says. Then she glances at the prone Brohur. "I hope he's not dead. What should we do with him?"

OOC - Is there a check I can make to see if he's dead? I don't have the Heal skill, but I suppose Westy could do it...and does someone have a rope or something we can use to tie him up and gag him, then dump him back down the Path of Light or something, where no-on's likely to find him in the immediate future?

The grak-graks you guys avoided by going left not right killed Farel. Another reason to hate Dolo and finish him off! If you don't have Heal a raw wisdom check can be attempted. In this case though, inspecting Brohur will find him unconscious not dead. Well, for now. A trained HEal check by Falkor or Westian would be needed to figure out anything more.

OOC - Ah okay...thought you needed to roll to tell even if someone was unconscious. Well that's alright then - we can do the tie-him-up-and-dump-him-somewhere (not down the pit, preferably, from an IC point of view ;)) thing :). And hmm, even if Ameena knew that grak-graks are what got Farel, she still wouldn't know where, any more than I do, because there's nothing to suggest it was in the Path of Reason and if Ardur's been protected by elementals or something then probably not because they wouldn't come down the Path of Truth. But anyway, all Ameena knows is that Farel is dead and Ardur isn't - she'll probably try to find the latter and ask him about Farel's stuff or something. You know, as a kind of IC epilogue thingy after the main quest is done :D.

In the middle of a battle I might roll for something so basic, out of combat some things are easier to figure out. Plus sometimes it depends on whether it's relevant to the plot to have the mystery or not :D

And Farel's death has to be at some point on the path back from Dolo's little library, because the path was blocked off by the Trolins and then the white crack.

OOC - So, somewhere 'tween Dolo's room and the elementals' cave - that'd make sense, if Ardur is at the latter now. Whether in-game or out-of-game (ie after we finish), as long as she didn't die, Ameena will try to find him and Farel's stuff and ask about who Farel's people were and try to find them, in which case presumably Ardur would go with her to get back there too in which case he can ty to carry Farel's stuff for her 'cause I'm pretty sure she'd have trouble just lifting the sword, never mind the bloody plate armour ;).

Westian felt a great sadness looking at the form of the knight. More sadness than he would have expected, considering that they had not always seen eye-to-eye. A lump came to his throat as he realised the price Farel had paid to defend Ardur.

“You always were a good man, even when it was not easy to be so. I hope I can learn something from your actions” he added, trying to avoid too much emotion coming to the fore. “I give my word that I will search for Ardur when this is finished, and guide him as best I can.”

As the form of the knight began to dissipate Westian blessed him and prayed. “May the High Lords welcome you into their realm. And may you get well-deserved rest in the world where suffering and pain are no more.”

With that Sir Farel was gone, and they were left with just the unconscious blackskull. Westian had to shake himself back to reality and remind himself that while the struggle was over for Farel the others still had a great deal to do. “We should tie him, to ensure he does not follow behind” he said to the group in a flat tone. “And then put him somewhere he will not be seen, so neither the grak-graks nor the Trolins will kill him while he is helpless. We better move quickly, and then move on. We must press on to the main hall.”

Westian has rope, he will do this asap so the Trolins do not see. It is what Farel would have wanted :( If anyone could distract the king while it is going on it would make it easier.

I'm going to say that the King et al are still reasonable distracted by Haynuus and the group, though they will come searchign for you quickly. Sadly, not many placed to hide Brohur. Well, except down the pit....

What you could dfo is place him a decent distance beyond the entrance to the path of reason, where the sounds of fighting are coming from. Especially if you extinquish a torch there, he would be hidden in darkness, and unlikely to be found by blackskulls and trolins. Grak-graks there's no guarantee of him not being found when helpless, unless you actively take him with you.

If you go for hiding instead of taking him prisoner with you, then make a dexterity check for using the rope (in case he tries to escape) and also make a further stealth roll for moving the guy around without drawing attention!

Ameena gives a whisker-twitch of agreement at Westian's words.
"Yes." she says. "Hopefully his friends won't find him till later, so he won't be able to tell them about us for a while. I suppose bu then it won't matter anyway. Do you want some help?"

OOC - I'm guessing I probably have the highest Dex of the group, being a Rogue and all, if you want me to do the tying-up. Unfortunately a human is a bit much for a murafu to move around, however I can still try to help if necessary...meh I'll roll for it all anyway, maybe I can move one of his legs or something ;). Dex for rope-tying = 18 (15+3), Stealth for whatever = 22 (7+15 and once again I'm glad my bouns is so huge :D). If neither of those rolls become needed, never mind ;).

Haynuus had a momentary blackout, and then realised the 'black' was in fact a huge spider's bottom that was sitting on him. With the help of a few helpful trolins he pulled himself up and out. The once shiny and gleaming armour of a proud knight or paladin was now covered in spider-gloop. Haynuus smelt horrid which was a shame as he had actually washed himself for the first time in years only 12 hours ago. No matter.

He patted his trolin buddy on the shoulder and thanked Uumack for joining him in battle. "They will sing a glorious song of war and victory about this day", he completely lied. In Haynuus's experience people were more interested in deflowering maidens and stealing from the middle classes than grappling stinky spiders.

"Now then... Where are the other's while we've been kicking spider butt?"

Forgot to reply to beo's comments - I am happy for Ameena to do the tying, Westian can help moving the guy around when needed. And I think we should hide him in the dark, down the corridor with an extinguished torch.

I could not get into Invisiblecastle, so I rolled on the D&D page. Stealth roll was 16 +8 -2 +2 = 24

Ameena's quiet question inspired some quick activity. Helm seemed shocked at what had happened, and Petal seemed to be concentrating on - as Westian - finding her own way to aid Farel's passing to the next life. Falkor checked on the fallen soldier, confirming that the man was merely unconscious, not dead. And seemed fine. Falkor ensured the man's sword was taken away, and reassured Ameena - before the murafu brought up the subject - that this armour did not seem to have the same faces as the ones they had seen on others. Falkor told Ameena of his brief experience in the spirit world fighting Arbrut's ghost. It seemed the souls of those he had killed was attached to the man, and Falkor had managed to allow those souls to free themsevles and take revenge. Brohur's armour did not seem to have the same decoration, and Falkor was confident this meant that not all the souls of this place were instant;y trapped. It was most likely something the higher Blackskulls could do. Falkor briefly disappeared and reappeared, confirming that Farel was gone.

Westian suggested the position to place Brohur's form, and Ameena got to work using the offered rope. Meanwhile Westian felt oddly focused and at peace. Perhaps it was to do with his previous actions, or perhaps it was simply Larethian giving him strength at this time. Though there was already a niggle of the weight of the promise to ensure the safety of Ardur. Still, it gave Westian the courage and poise - despite the sounds coming from the path of reason - to pull Brohur. The torch close was extinguised, ensuring there was a deep darkness that Westian's elven sight allowed him to navigate back throguh.

And then, there was a loud clanking noise. A battered soldier moved forwards. Before his eyes could focus on Westian, no more than a moving shadow - nor the more visible yet silent figures on the other side, he fell forwards. With a low, screeching sound, he was pulled back, armour scrapping along the ground in to the dark. There was a moment of silence, and then deep in the path of reason a shadow stirred. Westian's eyes strained, and he was certain he could see the familiar shape of a grak-grak shape. And the less familiar, more disquietening hint of glimmers from multiple places on its face, as if multi-facetted eyes were looking out. Or, focusing on it more, it was actually frost deep in eyeholes. The creature's head moved in a sinusoidal dip and sway unnatural for the normal grak-grak stance. Its head was raised too highly. And then, the head dipped back in to shadow. A moment later, the screeching sound of armour on stone was heard as the fallen soldier was pulled back in to the darkness.

Of course, it would be best not to stay. Certainly, who knew what senses other than sight these creatures might have. And who knew what they wanted with their fallen foes. Still, hopefully for the moment Brohur was safe, and he would not share the fate of his fellows.

Westian's hope that someone had distracted the King was luckily paid off. Everyone focused on the half-orc as he spoke of glory and victory. By the time Haynuus focused everyone bck on the missing clweric and the rest, the group re-appeared at the entrance to the path of light.

While suspicious glances were given by the King, and questioning looks thrown by Aurek and Deephold, no one asked any immediate questions. for their own part, of course, the returning group saw the grak-grak behind had been dealt with. With Brohur temporarily dispatched, and nothing emerging fro mthe path of reason for now, it seemed now was the time to strike.

I'm back! And indeed, now is the time to strike. Decide party order, and what your tactics are going to be - and also react to each other again, of course, and fill each other in as you think needed. So, is now the time to leverage Trolin, Paladin and half-orc might and charge in, or is now the time to leverage some sneakier elements. Also, do you enter from one side, or do you risk moving to enter from one of the other three paths Westian knows exist around the central hub?

Ameena makes sure that she secures the ropes around Brohur, so that he won't be able to run off and fetch help when he wakes up. She feels a little sorry for what's happened to him and she's glad he isn't dea, but knows that he'll only try to stop them, to hurt people, if he's allowed to move around at this time.
The group reunites at the entrance path again, and Ameena looks around at them whilst making sure she positions herself close to Helm once again.
"I suppose we should head in there now..." she says, gesturing in the direction of the central chamber. "So...we should try to talk to...Theron...so that he knows what's going on, and...and hopefully we won't be attacked, but..."

OOC - I really can't remember whether my "talk to Theron and convince him about Karnadee's spirit so that he'll let her go and turn on Gholst" plan was IC or OOC. I think it was probably the latter, hence the vagueness in the above speech ;). And apparently we were level 8 when we got this far in the First Run so we're actually a level lower this time. Well, hopefully it won't come to a fight, eh? :D

Yeah, the plan to advance you a level was contingent on you doing something you decided not to :)

Haynuus was pleased to see his friends once more, albeit through a haze of evaporating spider juices. The were all waiting together and looking as if they had done something a bit naughty. "We're back everyone, and it's time to stop killing time." Of course, the next few minutes may well be just that.

"Any plan? Does Ameena want to go first again? I'll happily go behind you but I suspect that this is a task for Westian, Deephold and Aurek." The religious types were all fantastic at starting a fight but it was the commoner who seemed to get their arms broken when the ruckus really started. "I suspect that this whole situation could be resolved with just a chat anyway?" Orcish sarcasm didn't exist, but Haynuus's human heritage did indeed lay a sway in his poor dominance of the art of conversation. "It's Theron who is the key here" he added, and he knew that smacking him around just isn't an option.

He agreed to Ameena's suggestion. The noise of fighting emanating from another exit would be a distraction to the real battle... Assuming that they are not interrupted by grak-graks and a humongous monster constructed of blackskull body parts.

OOC - Assuming Haynuus didn't see the grak-grak?

OOC - I think Westy was the only one who saw that grak-grak pulling the bloke down the corridor, whilst in the dark (using his elf vision) hiding Brohur. The only grak-grak anyone else has seen recently was the one that went all weird and semi-morphed into weird tentacular thingy with some spidery characteristics, which of course Haynuus and his blue friends have since given a good seeing to ;).

"So do we...um...just walk into the main chamber?" he said to Ameena, Petal, Falkor and Haynuus as soon as the half-orc reached them. This was what they had been aiming for all the time, but now that they were here it just did not seem as easy as it had before.

Recognising that he was the one who had pushed for coming here so quickly he thought that maybe he should present a better plan to his comrades than just charge in.

"So we are agreed that we need to talk to Theron, but also that the others might not just sit back and let us chat. That is why we need a plan. A plan that I can now share with you." He cleared his throat, trying to buy time to think of a plan which he could then claim he had all along.

After an awkward moments silence he continued. "Falkor, you once spoke directly to my mind, could you do that to Theron if we got close without them seeing us? Because that would be very useful, perhaps life-saving."

"And while we are on the subject, I found out that the dark elf priest does not want the others to know he killed Soorec. Maybe you could tell their leader what actually happened, if he has not figured it out already. That could really throw the cat among the pigeons."

Sorry beo for once again asking for help from a character who is not around! But it is the only way I could think of!

Not a problem, nice to keep the characters going, and also money may well come back and be glad to still be in the action. Falkor can indeed use the message ability to speak in to Theron's mind with line of sight. Although neither Falkor nor Westian will know if Gholst will also hear that.

@Ian: No, Haynuus did not see the other grak-grak, just the weird icky one that was killd while he was piled on ontop!

I'll let you guys have the next day or so, plus the weekend to mull stuff over. I might have the NPCs jump in with opinions too :)
