I know it now. It's Indy! I could hear ford delivering the line, but wasn't sure which movie at first... but it must be Temple of Doom where he says it to the young boy.

My movie is indeed dark and very uncomfortable, with an especially chaotic first half. The second half is essentially about the right to free will... However abhorrent and ugly that will might be.

Exactly.

So on a lighter note....

"Mrs. Ratbag! If you don't mind my saying so, you are badly in need of an expensive course of psychiatric treatment."

Clue: This one is from TV

I don't know, but it reminds me of something Basil Fawlty would say, or failing that something from Monty Python (well, the two are kind of linked in that they share John Cleese as a common factor...). But I don't think I specifically recognise it and there's probably loads of places that quote could've come from. That's just what first sprung to mind when I saw it, is all.

Gotta give you that one for mentioning it Ameena. It is from Monty Python.... The psychiatrist milkman/dairy farm sketch from Flying Circus.

Ahhh... right, so I was wrong - I do not know the Pythons backwards...

Wow...I've hardly watched any Flying Circus (just the occasional clip here and there - I've seen Holy Grail and Life of Brian multiple times, though, and Meaning of Life I think just once) so I'm not really sure how I got that. All I can think is that it felt like it was Basil Fawlty talking to Mrs Roberts in the episode "Communication Problem" (which has possibly one of my favourite moments of the series), and sort of reminded me of Python as a side-effect. Maybe it just shows how a Python quote makes you think of Python even if you don't actually recognise it :D.

Okay, I've got a quote. I think the only people who'll get it will be the ones familiar with the source, in which case they'll instantly recognise it. Anyone not familiar with the source probably doesn't stand much chance but I'll give it a go anyway...

"You forget a thousand things every day - make sure this is one of them."

Oh wow, my Dad (Chaos-Shaman) talks about this thread all the time! It will be fun to finally be a part of it - we won't cheat I promise! :)

I love movies of all kinds and I like to think I've seen my share of classics, but none of the ones recently mentioned are ringing any bells... I shall think on them and/or try to think of something new to contribute soon

My latest quote isn't from a film, it's from a computer game...though within the game universe it's a quote from a film (that was made in-universe) :D.

That one has to be Wallace, surely :D.

Mine, incidentally, was Michael from Grand Theft Auto V.

Yup. I don't know which episode it was in myself, but I can just see him with his broad grin making these short funny movements with his hands in front of his chest and saying "cheeeeese" with his high-pitched nasal voice. And Gromit turning his eyes upwards. Brilliant! Absolutely hilarious. :D

Let's change the subject completely:

"You're the disease. And I'm the cure."

(I hope this one hasn't been here before)

I'm back in the 'Don't know' zone!

Would never have got the GTA5 quote. I sort of left off the series after the 2nd gen stuff. Need to try some more modern games.
No idea about CS quote... Feel like i should know Jan's (sounds very familiar), but don't. Sounds like an action movie!

Jan's looks very similar to that of Agent Smith from the Matrix, but as far as I can remember that's "Humans are a disease, the cancer of this planet. We are the cure." so there's evidently some other film or something with a similar-sounding quote that isn't that one ;).

Yeah, well, it's not Matrix. It's a late 1980s action movie, one of the less well known pieces of a very famous action-movies actor.

In the meantime, I've got a much better known line here: "Certainty of death? Small chance of success? What are we waiting for?"

"Certainty of death? Small chance of success? What are we waiting for?"

Could this be Conan the Destroyer?

Nope, certainly not. The genre is more or less right, but not the movie.

Hmm... Don't actually know the last one, but if it is fantasy genre i'll take a guess at a well known one.

LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring?

Saumun wrote:LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring?
You're half right! :D It's from the Return of the King (Gimli before leaving Minas Tirith for the Black Gate).

So one of my quotes still remains: "You're the disease. And I'm the cure."

Arr, I knew the Gimli one but it came and went while I was at work so I missed the chance of answering, lol. I don't know the disease/cure one, but from your comment at it being from a famous action guy I'm gonna guess it's an Arnie movie. I have a quote of my own in the meantime, which I suspect people will either get straight away or have no clue about, depending on whether they're familiar with the source...

"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own."

Sigh. No idea there, Ameena. :|

And, no, it's not Arnie. It's... the... erm... the other guy.

Aha... I think... I think i have both (maybe).

Ameena's sounds like Number Six from 'The Prisoner', but i'm going from the quote i remember ("I am not a number, i'm a free man") rather than the given one.
I'm assuming from Jan's last post that it is Stallone... And the movie it seems most applicable to is Cobra (hopefully).
