As Aurek struggled with the door, the half-elf ran over to give him a helping hand. "Thank you... for the... assistance... ... My... name is... Aurek... ... What's... yours?" said Aurek to the assisting elf.
Then he spoke to the hobbit, "Could... you please hurry... to find that... switch! I'm not... to sure... how much longer... I can hold... this open!"

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Ameena finally approaches Haynuus, several moments after his call. She walks over to him on all-fours, careful not to put too much weight on her left hindpaw. Her nose is still bloody from when Drommal kicked her in the face and she looks up at Haynuus with a rather miserable expression as she approaches him, though lowers her head again as she draws near to avoid the discomfort of having to crane her neck once again - as she is now, her eye level is barely halfway up his shins.
"I'm here." she says quietly, sounding rather tired, scared, and definitely unhappy. "What...happened through there? Is anyone...I mean, people got hurt...Helm ran...is he alright? And everyone else...I don't...want to go back through there yet..."

"It's clear. Safe to go through." blurted Haynuus, very relieved. And then, with a bit more urgency he suddenly remembered... "We must help the others, Helm needs our aid! Let's go back and find him." And with that he reached down and took Ameena by the paw and faced the teleporter. "I'm glad you OK. Ready?"

As Haynuus reaches down to take Ameena's paw, she flinches away from him, taking a slight limping step back. Since he's now bent down far enough, she finds it easier to look up at his face.
"No." she replies, sounding clearly upset. "I don't want to go back there. Back to...death. I can smell it from here. The blood...the burning...I don't want to see it again."
She takes another couple of awkward steps back, bowing her head once more and trying not to breathe in any more of the stench coming through from the blue hazy thing.
"Murafu aren't...we don't fight like that. We don't kill." She finds it difficult to explain herself through the stench, the fear, and the physical pain she's experiencing. "I...I hope Helm is alright. I want to find him, but..."
She looks pleadingly up at Haynuus again.
"But I don't want to see or smell that ever again." she finishes.
Though no longer quite feeling the urge to flee, she keeps a wary eye on the half-orc, ready to retreat further if he tries to pick her up or otherwise force her through the blue thing.
OOC - Ian, you realise that to try and take Ameena by the paw (which she was standing on at the time), he'd have to basically either bend right over or get down on his knee(s). But she didn't let him touch her anyway, so I suppose that's a sort of moot point
. Can I suggest, though, that on any attempts to interact with characters like this in future that you only say what Haynuus tries to do, since the other character may not be so co-operative with your desires (as in this case)
.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Ok, will update for the general situation. Basically leave Falkor 'in limbo' for this round, either he will ahve dived through the door, Will be on this side looking for a switch, or something else.
Sadly, Westian's training had not been to build up raw strength, but muscle control. Therefore, the heavy door proved to be a little too much to handle combined with the urgency of the task, and the door slipped before the cleric had got his hands properly set, thumping him painfully in the shoulder. Irritatingly, and dangerously, this meant he slipped and fell to a knee - under the door itself!
Westian takes 1hp lethal damage - which could have been so much worse if Aurek hadn't got his check! For those playing the home game, Westian rolled a 2, so didn't even make a DC5 check! So that means not only did he get hit by the door, but he's under it, ready to be hit by it next turn. Hope Westian rolled well, or Aurek does next go, or this could go...badly....
Luckily, Aurek had kept a hold of the door, although the heavy mechanism was still pushing him painfully down. Aurek could hear the voice of Farel and someone else engaged in conversation, but it was barely consciously, his world filled with a heavy door, and now the urgency of actually stopping it!
Aurek will take 1hp of non-lethal damage for the strain. The door is now 1/4 open (so Falkor would need an acrobatics check to sneak under). More importantly, Westian is now under the door. Basically, a DC15 save by Westian or Aurek would buy Westian enough time to scramble out from under before it closed shut. Anything lower by both and Westian will start getting pounded by the door.
After that, it's a DC15 acrobatics roll for Westian to roll out of the way, and a DC20 strength check to halt the door enough for Westian to get back out.
Anyway, as you were everyone! OB has given me a roll for holding the door open, but is free to change his decision to just scrambling out of the way if he reads this.
Falkor's moves could help either way. Sadly, sounds like Ameena and Haynuus are tied up elsewhere!

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Aurek watched in horror as the half-elf slipped and fell under the door. It was now or never, he needed to give his all! (strength check 1d20 + 1 = 19 + 1 = 20, EPIC ROLL! I'm glad I got this one, and I think OB will be thankful too! YAY! I'm really beginning to dread the day when my d20 REALLY turns on me...
)
Aurek braced himself against the floor, anchoring himself down... Just then, when the elf thought that he'd breathed his last, the door actually came to a standstill, mere inches from his chest. "Please... ... get... back... up... here... ... I... really... need... your help." he said, looking down at the fallen friend.
Not sure if he'd heard noises from up the corridor, Aurek yells out, attempting to re-gain the aid of Farel, "FAREL! ... ... WE! ... NEED! ... ... HELP!" (1d20 = 8, I rolled a 1d20 here, seen as I'm heaving against a big-ass door.

Most definitely! Westian can shuffle out from under the door thanks to that 20.
"Busy here..." came the quiet reply of the knight drifting down the corridor. There was another angry exchange, Farel was definitely having a heated debate with someone.
Edit:
Actually, because of the timing of that:
There was another heated debate. "Let the damn door go, Aurek!" came Farel's further reply drifting from the distance.

Aurek yelled back at Farel, "MAKE .. SURE ... ... YOU .. FIND .... US ... ... ... FRIEND!", and after waiting for everyone to move out of the way, he released the door, and it came crashing down with a thunderous "BOOM!". Exhausted, he slumped to the floor and collapsed against the, now thoroughly closed, door.
Once he'd recovered, Aurek looked up at the other people in the room, removed his helmet, and said:
"Now that I'm got time for a talk, my name is Aurek Sandheim. I am a holy man of the cloth, in case you had not yet realised. I've noticed that you're missing some people, I'd be more than happy to assist you in the search for them. I'd really like to locate Farel aswell, he's the man who was with me before."
"We both woke up here, unsure of how we got here. Our minds just seemed all 'fuzzy', and any memories came with great difficulty."
"We were in a cell block, not to far from here. But, we managed to escape, although blood had to be shed, and I acquired my armor from one of our captors."
Then Aurek turned to Falkor, "Hello there, you don't seem to have said very much... Might I ask your name?"
Thought I'd start some convo...

Haynuus sniffed, and his fear changed to sadness. He knew that he couldn't follow the Mufarooh around as he had promised to help Westian (he thinks).
The light of the teleporter's blue haze shone a smokey and continually changing light across Ameena's features making her look as if she was shifting to another dimension, somewhere far away. Was it his imagination? He caught a symbol of a bat forming in the frothy blue haze for a moment - what did it mean? Somewhere there was someone that needed hitting, and it'd be was most likely standing in front of Falkor.
He bowed like he'd seen some of the classy humans do, "Thanks Ameena". And stepped backwards.
OOC - Drop a torch with Ameena if she doesn't already have one

Ameena just sits there and stares, confused. Thanks for what? For being too scared to go back through and see the results of the fight? The blood covering Haynuus was indication enough that the view through there won't be a pleasant one.
And now Haynuus has gone again. Does that mean he won't be coming back? Will she see any of the others again?
Does she want to?
Thoroughly confused and upset about the entire situation, Ameena, for now, just sits there and continues to stare into the strange swirling blue light, on the verge of retreat again if only to get away from the smell.
OOC - I know because of the whole no-Falkor-update thing, I'd better not post anything big so this was just a brief, couple-of-seconds reaction to Haynuus's abrupt departure.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Falkor looked around, the party was splitting up and they had all been in a tough battle, still - they were all alive, at least he hoped they were all alive. Haynuus could have been ambushed while jumping through, Ameena could have been torn apart or burned alive, and the strange soldiers friend was gone. Falkor couldn't decide one way or the other what to do - his heart said he should run under the door with the others, but his brain told him otherwise. If battle was imminant then a large orc with great strength would offer more protection.
But Ameena, poor ameena - Falkor realised that this was going to be hard for her to understand. Why had he attacked, what hatred and disregard for life had he shown - yes, Ameena would be far from happy. He realised he would need to try and convince her it had been for the good of the group. But for now, he had to concentrate on other things.
While the door was closing on Westian, he jumped to his feet and started to search for a switch or lever or... anything.... that might help. He wasn't prepared to go through the door - but if he could find a way to open it, then they could all check on Haynuus. In the meantime Haynuus might even come back with Ameena.
OOC: Check as requested, (Falkor) rolls 1d20 and gets 14

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Westian managed to pull himself out of the mess he had gotten himself into thanks to the soldiers impressive show of strength. “Thank you, my apologies that I was not more helpful.” When the soldier introduced himself as Aurek, a man of the cloth, Westian examined him more closely. What kind of High Lord did this man serve dressed like that? Best not to ask, last time his theological discussion with Drommal had unpleasant consequences. Although the fact that this Aurek had woken up here too with no memory, and the fact that he had fought Gholst’s men, did hint that perhaps the armour was simply functional, rather than a declaration of allegiance. His subsequent description of defeating a soldier gave a plausible reason for his garb, but still, best to stay on guard.
With a broad smile lighting up his face Westian offered his hand “Good to meet someone friendly – and holy – in this dark place! I am Westian. We also awoke here with no memory of the preceding circumstances. As we seem to be like-minded people, and we now seem to have a common enemy, perhaps we should work together? Currently I was hoping to get through this door to search for a man who has just passed through. I heard your conversation with your comrade, and while he may be fine on his own I have more concern for my unarmed and wounded friend. If we cannot open this door by force, then maybe we should look the mechanism that opens it. If it can open once it can open again!” Despite the smile Westian felt weary. His wounds were mostly healed, but his once fine clothes were now torn and soaked in blood. Seeing Haynuus return through the teleporter so soon without Ameena gave another shock to his psyche – had they just lost one of their few friends? A close observer would see behind the smiles lay two dark and depressed eyes.

Sadly, Falkor's initial search did not yield a button. Anyone who is searching, roll a d20 and add your perception bonus please! Falkor can search again. Given you know there is switch there, each subsequent search will add a +2 to your own roll. You can decide to aid another, rolling only a DC10 check to provide a +2 bonus to someone else's search.

Aurek replies to Westian, while shaking his hand, "Westian... ... Dallomain? Are you a member of the order of Lothian? I do believe that you may be the reason that I am here. The order has sent me to be your bodyguard. I am to protect, and aid, you until you complete your mission, and then return you safely to the order."
"But, on to more pressing matters... finding a way to open this door... now, that would be good." and with that he starts searching the walls near the door for hidden switches (search 1d20 = 1! EPIC FAILURE!) but instead, is hampered by his armor, trips, and falls flat onto his face... "I guess I'll leave the searching to better suited people for now."
"Now, Westian, I've come to realise that you are an able-bodied spell caster... but, given the memory issues that I had upon entering this place, I can assume that you've had trouble remembering the runes for most of you spells. I don't know for certain, but, I may be of some help there..." and Aurek showed Westian (and anyone else that was watching/listening) how to cast the runes PAL, YA, EW and KU (OOC: I'm pretty sure that you know all my others, I think you should like PAL & YA).

“You were sent to accompany me?” Westian asked, shocked. “Oh, um, good. Good!” he replied, suddenly feeling very pleased with himself. His smile actually seemed genuine for a few seconds. “Um, why again? This does seem to ring some bells, but it is all so damn hazy...” His mood improved yet more at Aurek’s description of the runes. “Of course, yes, they are coming back. I have some more that I can show you, in case you don’t remember. But first...”
Turning to Haynuus the recent happiness quickly evaporated. “Haynuus, my friend, did you see Ameena? Don’t tell me that Drommal...” his words trailed off before he finished the sentence. So many things were occupying his mind at once: looking for Helm, talking to Aurek (already proving fruitful, and Westian still had so many questions to ask), seeing what had happened to their Murafu friend – all in all it was no surprise that the search for a hidden button was spectacularly unsuccessful.
OOC Will save for memories: 18 + 5 = 23.

Ok, nice to see you can balance those really terrible roles with some really good rolls. I think Aurek's help will grant you a +2 by the way, letting you squeak in with a DC25 success. That's pretty sweet. PM coming soon (phone willing)
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
"Ameena? Oh! She didn't want to come through the teleporter... We need her already?!" And the half-orc could see the two humanish people and the halfling searching and sniffing for a switch on the wall.
Haynuus was unsure what to do. He couldn't persuade Ameena to come back (with a face like his, he had trouble convincing anyone that he wasn't going to maul them), there was no time to search the room for flasks or useful keys and such, and there was a door between them and two others being chased down by soldiers. There was no time!
So, the half-orc decided to charge the wall as well, perhaps he could knock a brick-switch in? And if that failed he'd copy Falkor by putting his finger in holes, tugging at extrusions and generally pretending to be perceptive. There really was no time to waste!
OOC - Haynuus: Rolled 1d20 and got 13 => 13

Falkor continued his mission to find the switch - it had to be there somewhere. Whilst he continued to search a sense of sadness came over him, he missed Ameena and while she was wondering around this dungeon alone she would not be safe. If only he knew how to convince her to come back, and that their cause had been just - but as he considered what he would say, Falkor realised he couldn't actually justify it to himself let alone an intelligent Rat.

Lol Ian, that's the kinda imaginative idea I like to see. Update at lunchtime just to summarise where you guys are and to ensure his isn't just a dry set of rolls while you speak amongst yourselves
No one's found the switch yet though
Keep going, brute forcing it like this you will find it, at the moment it's a matter of how fast that's the concern!
Edit: Awww, too low money...no, wait, you have knowledge +6 - whew. You have a ROS rune! And some dizziness in the head.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Probably unsuccessful with his searching, Haynuus continued and stuck his nose in a hole scaring a small spider while simultaneously punching a not-so-innocent-looking protrusion in the wall. "Ameena was very scared with all of the fighting and..." He paused for a moment. "...Perhaps scared of us as well!"
Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Haynuus threw himself at a random wall, the dust drifting down. The door rattled, and Falkor thought he spotted an inconsistency in how the door moved. Was there a more rigid area? Could that denote where the locking mechanism was? Falkor realised that it would be a little high for him to press if that was the area (and side) but he could at least try to look from his unique vantage-point underneath
That will also have had another effect beyond the door. Also, I think that should give +2 bonuses all around for the combination 15 checks from Falkor and Haynuus. Luckily, failures here don't generate any bad effects, so fel free to get all your bad luck out of the way here, now.

Aurek turned to Falkor and spoke... "I'm not meaning any offense here, but you are obviously our best chances at finding this switch, however, you are a little too short too reach some of the places that you might need to check... I may not be good at searching for switches, but I'm good at helping. Just direct me to the section of wall you wish me to check or push... Or, I can give you a 'boost-up' should you need to reach any of the higher places yourself." (assist Falkor 1d20 = 12, OOC: At least I managed to roll THIS one...

Haynuus managed to hide a smirk at Falkor's new levitation spell. "Let's not hang around" he said "there's no time to chat." And with that he helped Falkor search the area he was looking / smoking at. He saw the halfling frown in concentration and trace a horizontal line from the door with a fat stubby finger across the seemingly continuous stone, and so Haynuus started thumping and prodding the rock behind...
OOC - Haynuus: Rolled 1d20 and got 4 & Added 2 => 4 2.
... Unfortunately nearly squashing Falkor's finger.

Re: Ameena IC thread - Riddles in the Dark
Ameena sits by the blue thing for a little while longer, puzzling over what she can do. The pain in her hind paw is getting worse, and it seems to be involuntarily twitching every now and then. Normally, of course, she would never have got herself into this kind of situation. She would have come across people like Falkor and Haynuus either on the road, or by observing them quietly from the shadows in, perhaps, a tavern they might have chosen to visit whilst on their own travels. She would have decided for herself whether or not she wanted to approach them or talk to them. And if she'd seen any fights erupting, she'd have removed herself from the vicinity and gone about her travels elsewhere.
But not here. Here, she's stuck. She woke up in a room with them, those strangers. They didn't talk to her much, but she'd figured that maybe thet would change, and that she'd get to know them better. Then the metal-wearing humans had come, Drommal and the others, and told them they were to accompany them to see a mage they knew.
And then there'd been the fight. These mostly-strangers suddenly became strangers once more. That's how she feels about them, she realises - not part of their group, but someone who was simply stuck in their company. Ameena knows murafu don't get on well with everyone. Few people do. But she's found that only certain people seem to understand, or want to learn, how to interact with one of her kind. Helm had seemed like one such person, but he's gone now, she decides. If he's not dead, the others will take care of him. They have their own skills and magic. Westian will be able to heal him as he healed Falkor, with the magic potions he can make.
Ameena, meanwhile, will have to manage on her own. Were she among other murafu, they would have stayed with her, talked to her, kept her company, made her feel better. These people aren't murafu, nor are they like murafu. They don't seem to understand how her race lives. That, in itself, is alright - lots of people don't understand how murafu live. It's just that, down here, it's not something she can cope with. She doesn't really know what to do, but with things as they are she's currently fairly certain that whatever shape her future might take, it isn't through this big blue telly-hazy thing.
Which means going on alone. In a place which is, for the most part, a complete unknown. She looks at the torch Haynuus left on the floor. More fire. Already she's had more than she can handle of that particular subatance down here. The torch itself is more of a size to suit the hands of larger races, not hers. And she doesn't want to be announcing her presence by marching around showing herself so clearly to anyone who might be lurking. And apart from anything else, even if she could comfortably hold the thing, she'd never be able to carry it without probably falling over due to the pain in her foot. No, she needs to continue on all-fours, and doesn't particularly want to take the torch with her anyway. She is aware that there are probably things down here, hostile creatures, that don't need any kind of light in order to find their prey, but decides that there really isn't a lot she can do about that. She'll be able to detect the soldiers easily before she finds them, even if the air doesnt' carry their scent to her easily - they need lights of their own, and their loud, rough voices and clomping footsteps should be easy enough to hear. Maybe she should even consider approaching one and just asking him for the way out. He might just kill her. But then, this poison might end up killing her before any strange creature or metal-wearing human has a chance to touch her.
Yes, she decides, she'll continue by scent, sound, and whisker-touch. The loss of sight won't be a great one. Not for a murafu. But where should she go? Not through the blue thing - that's already decided. And not back toward that strange rock-creature - she decides to leave it alone, whatever it is, considering the reception it's already received from Brohur. And for all she knows, it can spit poison as well as spread it by touch.
So, then, that leaves the remaining corridor.
Ameena starts to head down it, nose constantly sniffing, whiskers twitching, until she comes to the sudden edge of a pit. Strange - she was sure this was the way that other soldier came. Well, she supposes, he must have opened this pit somehow to stop anyone following him. Maybe she can close it. Or maybe it's narrow enough that she can leap across it even with her wounded paw. Or maybe it's not as deep as it seems - it might be possible to hop down into it, or perhaps it has rough sides she can somehow cling to.
She sniffs and feels carefully around the edge, to see whether any of these options might bear out...
OOC - I'm guessing Perception to find possible ways across/into the pit (apart from falling

Re: Ameena IC thread - Riddles in the Dark
She would have come across people like Falkor and Haynuus either on the road, or by observing them quietly from the shadows in, perhaps, a tavern they might have chosen to visit whilst on their own travels.
That triggers another odd dizziness in Ameena thinking on this, reminding her of something strange. Again she is sitting speaking of the murafu, but instead of the open air beside a wagon and Helm, it's a tavern she catches a glimpse of, and Falkor she remembers the face of - for a brief moment at least.
Roll me a will save there!
Sadly, the pit itself does not yield any clues to her nose. The air coming up from the pit smells...old. Certainly, the soldier must have opened the pit just now. And it must have been a pit that had not been opened for a while. Worse, the air smells stale. The floor below must not have much in the way of exists or flowing air to smell so different to the air above. Ameena cannot tell if any further lingering scent of death is from the teleporter of from this pit.
In the half-light of the teleporter Ameena can see that while the walls are not perfectly smooth, they seem smooth enough in this light that she could not easily find hand holds. She cannot see the bottom in this half-light, so the pit can't be that shallow.
Just on the edge of the dull blue light, at what would be shoulder height for a human, there seems to be something wooden protruding from the wall. A lever of some kind. Perhaps that was what opened the pit? If it is, in this light Ameena cannot spot anything similar on this side.
However, width wise the pit does not seem too bad. It looks square-ish, so if the corridor is roughly 10 foot wide, that means the pit is only 10 foot across. With a small run-up, Ameena could clear it easily, surely?
While looking around, there seems to be something odd behind Ameena. It could be a trick of the light, but it appears that beyond the teleporter, and somewhere back around the corner she had previously been at, there sems to be a seperate glow. Not the orange glow of a torch, but another blue-y white glow that reminds her of something familiar.

Falkor continued the search - putting the doubts to the back of his mind. This time he had to find the switch, the others were helping and of course - this should have been easy.. but so much on the mind, the heavy weight of blood on his hands was taking it's toll..
Falkor: Rolled 1d20 and got 3 => 3
Doubts were coming back, no matter how hard he tried he could not get rid of the doubts... was HE evil? Where they taking him to their master because he was the traiter? Perhaps he had been escaping this tower... nothing seemed to make sense any more.

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : STORY THREAD
Westian was torn. Helm was wounded and being chased by one of Gholst’s men through the doorway. Ameena was also wounded, and on her own through the teleporter, facing the gods-know-what. They needed to stay together, yet it seemed that they were falling apart. Even the common foes and the unknown evil of the dungeon were not enough to unite them. Someone should go and talk to Ameena. But who?
He had never had a long discussion with the murafu, and doubted his words would carry much weight. Falkor had instigated the fight that had troubled Ameena, and so was probably a persona non grata in her books. Aurek was unknown, and wearing black, skull-covered armour and so also an unlikely choice. He felt that Haynuus and the murafu had the strongest bond in the group, but that had not been enough to convince her to come. In truth the half-orc, though a good soul, was not the most eloquent of speakers and so may have failed to get his point across to a frightened companion. So very rapidly he had run out of people to send after her. He went through the list again in his head, starting at the beginning. I could go myself. Even though his blood-soaked clothes would not be the most comforting sight, and he did not know if Ameena would value his opinion, the alternatives were thin on the ground. “Okay Haynuus, we swap. You chase after Helm, I try and talk to Ameena!” With that he stopped his ineffectual searching and ran through the blue haze. In his rush he completely forgot to ask the half-orc what direction he should go.

Westian's elf eyes did not really acknowledge poor lighting as an obstacle, but still there was a slight moment of alteration as he went from the well lit teleporter room to the other side, which was enclosed spaces and only the teleporter's own glow to illuminate everything.
The first thing Westian finds is a torch discarded, unlit, on the floor. The next thing Westian notices is an odd glow, familiar for some reason, coming from the direction the party had previously gone. Had Ameena gone that way? If so, what was that glow - it wasn't torchlight...
Give me a will save if Westian is goign to investigate the glow. Give me a perception check if Westian will investigate his surroundings more (including the straighter passageway that the party never followed).
Meanwhile, in the main room Haynuus's 'helpful' punching off the wall almost resulted in some embarrassing injuries. Luckily, a halfling was harder to hit, especially if aiming punches at switches above their head. However, it took a few moments for Falkor to recover enough to carry on his promising explorations. Aurek's aid in puhsing the correct areas (instead of attackign them, which could have scared the switches out of working) made up for the lack of Westian.
However, it still took a minute or more for Falkor to finally spot a half-brick that seemed perfectly split along its length compared to its mortar. Haynuus punched it a few times, but it took Aurek's more gentle and persistent push for it to subtly be pushed back.
Click. CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK.
A door that had almost crushd a poor priest and had barely been stopped by the efforts of two fully grown humans lifted up as if featherlight.
Revealed was the still dead body of Thinpas, slumped against the wall. However, the pool of his blood didn't quite mask, to the full light allowed access, that there was a set of bloody footprints continuing onwards - ones that must have belonged to Helm!
All the party present could hear the sound of urgent arguing.
"Foor goodness sake, stay back!" yelled the recogniseable voice of Farel. In the dull light beyond, Farel and some other indistinct figure could barely be seen.
And there we go - door open! Hmm, funny to lose your best negotiator...for...no reason...
Anywya, it's the party's choice. Yell out to Farel but stay back? Does someone want to sneak ahead (the corridor is quite dim if no one has torchlight right at the door)? Do you just want to rush in?
Choices, choices...
Note that the party is now about a minute or two ahead of Westian and Ameena. I'm sure their actions will bring them back in line, if not you might find them suddenly appearing beside you

And at last the door rolled up, the half-orc was really rubbish at puzzle solving or finding small switches and stuff. He was a Creature Cavern kinda guy.
He saw two distant figures in the gloom and heard Farel shouting. His eyes were still adjusted to the high levels of light though and couldn't tell though if those figures were his friends or foe. Neither if there was any kind of reason for Farel's alarm.
"Cooooeeeyyy!!!! You there Helm? Mr Knight?...." Haynuus wasn't sure what to do. He wanted to rush in and help out but with Westian gone he was suddenly more nervous. "Can we help?" He hoped someone would do some thing intelligent real soon.
OOC - Better make a perception check. Haynuus: Rolled 1d20 and got 13 => 13
