I guess I missed the whole unicorn thing.
After finishing Naneel's song and the halls of music, I got the Bridge book right away with access to the Rainbow mines.
What's to be done to start the Unicorn part of the story?

It was after Naneel’s house, but before the rainbow mines... and at some point before going there I had done the music room. I can’t remember the order. I’ll have to recheck.

Another question for my understanding on how the rainbow mines work...
I assume that with the first solid key I can open one of the sections in the central room. Then go down to that section to get a crystal.
With that crystal I can proceed on the main level to get another solid key to open the next section, where I get another crystal. And so on... am I right so far?
Does it matter in which order I do the sections? I hope that there're no dead ends...

Remember to keep using the magic map, with path 2 you'll need it, there might be a rock or key there.

This might be a possible way, but I guess not the intended one.
The path to get the spell gets blocked once you kill the butcher. So having the spell is optional, and you can block access to it forever.

I do not know how he could fix that, you have to time your forced pushes. Adamski would have to change the speed of the door closing after the ice spell expires, I can't see that being a possible thing to do. You can do it, be patient and persist. Start the push forward not right away but just before the spell ends. Use feel. Happy you found the time to play this dungeon, it's well worth it.

Not sure what spell you are referring to, but the ice spell can be found in two places. A barrel, a spell and a monster can sneak your way past. There are no other places where this can be done, safely.

Don't forget the elevator, that may be how to get past the problem of not enough rocks to get that key.

I am rather disappointed that Adamski has disappeared. Was hoping to get help from him, he seemed interested in that. Dungeon Masters work in mysterious ways.

I think find that spell in two places, I love how he used the DM system, vi water, kath air, dain intelligence.

The elevator was my first thought to bypass the pits without using the crystals. Can the elevator be used for the party, or is it for the barrels? Or both? Unfortunately I can’t because it requires another vacuum fuse (I used the first in the Magnet).
Apparently it’s in tricks and traps, and I have no solid keys.

I didn’t want to go back to an old save (it would mean virtually restarting the mines), but if the elevator can transport the party it’s the only thing I can think to do.

You can use the fighter force skill in other places, but if you're not careful you'll get stuck, expect to replay.

Had a spare fuse in the end. Replayed rainbow mines after completing almost all of them separately. I too thought there was a pattern at first. So much to remember. Very interesting puzzles. Hope you're tough enough for the flames

Yeah, I did it on another after that and promptly got stuck.
Got the key and got out. Went in tricks and traps. Killed everything in the first parts, but ran out of time to play. Saved in a room with four pads, a pyro, and some mine carts in the next room. Will hopefully snatch an hour or so later.

I get the thing about having lots to remember. For the clue nexxus gave about the unicorn horn, it actually tells about it in one of the books... but there are so many, I’d forgotten. Should’ve made notes.

Yes, it’s clearly not the intended way but I couldn’t work out how to get to the end of path 2 without the extra rock. If you do, please let me know how.

I’m struggling to remember where I got it, but it was definitely after Naneel’s house. The only places I went between there and the rainbow mines was the garden with the fairy and the hall of music in the dream palace... so it must be from one of them.

Where is this grate? I could not yet find out, but I know there's a switch to open it for a while.

I rechecked the dream palace and found the book for the unicorn puzzle.
Am now ready to enter the Gingerbread house. After that, I will continue with the Rainbow mines.
And there's still Sivi's dungeon where I did not come very far yet.
