Regarding that game, did you see a documentary about it (and other things) a couple of years back called "Atari: Game Over" ? Worth watching.

None of my screenshots are likely to be from any kind of console game, since I've never really been a console gamer (played a small number of Playstation and XBox games but that's about it...and yes I mean the original iterations of those consoles, not their "sequels" ) - pretty much any pic form me will be either Atari or PC stuff .
Anyway, Saumun was super-close with one guess - it's a game called

Yes, I was wondering if anyone else would recognise it! And Saumun was right with the Atari 2600.

I recognised Jan's (thankfully never played it) but I don't know Saumun's or Ameena's. Saumun's looks like an beat-em up from maybe the C64 era. As Jan says Ameena's could be some sort of sim.

LOL. It somehow reminded me my childhood. I always wanted my father to tell my fairy tales but he only knew three or four by heart, so it got boring, and so then he came with a "fairy tale" of his own creation, a very strange, modern one, called "The Tale of the Skyscraper" where the point was that he was describing in a detail how comrades from a local municipality bureau decided to raze a street of old houses and have a skyscraper built there. I was amazed and it was very interesting and everything but of course after some time it became repetitive and boring again, so my father came with a super-dooper improvement, a "new" "fairy tale" called "The Tale of the Earthscraper" which was basically the same except this time the building was beneath the surface. My classmates and all friends where completely amazed when I told them that story and I was very proud of my father.

Nice.... I suppose a very deep dungeon could be an Earthscraper.

The screenshot from mine is the arcade version, but it was indeed ported to 8 bit machines.
