Sophia's reply put it in context for me. It's much like the British press insomuch as there is a lot of bollocks spouted from both sides (though lots more people read the Daily Mail than the Morning Star).

Comparing UK and US politics is interesting as the UK has moved to the centre big time. Back in the days of Maggie Thatcher there was a huge difference between the parties but now they're all hudlled in the centre. The US also offers its voters a limited choice, but then it has done for years - Democrats (moderate right) or Republicans (hard right).

I do think the rise of Barack Obama is quite exciting, whereas I really don't care whether or not David Cameron smoked cannabis at university, most people over 40 did, but it was a harmless drug then whilst today's high-THC strains are psychotropically dangerous.

You guys pay more attention to U.S. media than U.S. citizens. It's all bullsh*t to me. I stopped caring seven years ago when all it did was make me depressed and angry.

Hardly. I know this stuff isn't the broad view of intelligent well informed Americans. But I was certainly concerned by that line I quoted above, it seemed... absurd. It shows exactly why the world (in general) feel that USA is out of touch with the rest of the planet.

Anyway, I can't pretend to know much about politics, but I know a lot about human nature, and again I can't help but be reminded of a well used phrase: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups". And by that I mean politicians and journalists, not the population of the USA (so don't lynch me!)

Al-Qaeda and some US Christianity groups are two sides of one coin (I`m NOT talking about Bush!). There were always obsessed minority sects in US history (like Ku-Klux-Klan or American Communist Party for example), but 95% of population don`t pay attention to them, so they don`t have large influence to the politicians. Same in Europe. Even neoconservative Republicans generally keeps on a distance of these perverted communities.

Barack Obama is a good candidate; he was always against the Iraqi war BEFORE it all started, but NOW he`s not going to withdrawn an army because it would cause a greatest mess, so they have to stay there not to give the terrorists a feeling of victory! If I was American, I would vote for him.

I've been ignoring the news quite happily since I moved to Basingstoke - amazing how a lack of TV isn't somehtign you notice (I have access to one, it's just aaaaaaaaaall the way downstairs. And my TV card is aaaaaaaaaall the way accross the room needing installed)

Recently got a game on the Xbox called "The Bard's Tale" (yes I know there was an old game of the same name, though I never played it, but as far as I know this version is nothing really to do with that), and it was great - very funny. There are several occasions on which various characters (though never the Bard himself) sing, and the lyrics come up at the bottom of the screen with a dot bouncing over each syllable as it's sung. Anyway, though the first song isn't about a...er....subject I'm particularly interested in (or have had any experience with), I love this song - I was attempting to sing along to it halfway through the first time I watched it. And of course, within a couple of days I had looked for, and found, and watched it (several times) on YouTube.

While I played original Bard'sTale I-III only, I recently had the opportunity to watch my gf play the Bard's Tale remake and quite enjoyed merely watching. Albeit the gameplay may be a bit linear, I just love the humour. Stuff like those undead rappers and break-dancers: ROFL!

Hehe yeah and the trio of Trow who appear every time you discover a "Chosen One"...first time I saw them I was instantly reminded of the Oompa-Loompas .

THis Bard song is particularly interesting , because it refers to the reason why they used to serve no beer after 11 o'clock in pubs.. I mean it is really the case , or was the case when I visited some years ago. No more pints after the bell ringing.

The song appears to be an old one, and the version in "The Bard's Tale" is very similar - the bit where they list the pub names ("The Drunken Rat, the Aiken Drum, the Trowie's Pub as well...") of course uses pub names from the game - I think in other versions of the song, the first pub you name is the one you're in, then two others. But I'd never heard of this song before I played the game. Anyway, it's catchy .

Woooo hoo! I love it already. That's some sweet gameplayand very cute too. I've never actually owned a console, except for a hand-me-down PS1 very briefly, but this game could persuade me to buy a PS3. I love what is going on with thenew wave of multiplayer interactive gaming, and easily accessiblegameslike this are a great way of getting more people involved.

I haven't been interested in any new games for some time. LBP and Spore are beginning to change my mind though. Nice find...
