"Thanks Ameena" Westian said with a smile as the door opened. But his face darkened when she started talking to Passin, surely she would not follow him? While he was willing to let the soldier escape, he did not think that a member of a cult of death could be trusted with someones life. "Passin, as much as you might scoff at my intentions, I genuinely wish you well. I hope you use your second chance at life wisely." Turning to the others he said "If someone can find the release switch on this door we can let Passin through, and then seal both doors again."

"Ameena, I can carry you across the teleportor room again, if that is where you wish to go."

Wow, since money's busy we have a full lid... let's sneak in an update :D

Aurek spotted that Sir Farel was perhaps not the beefiest nor toned of men. The man perhaps not seen much combat, or avoided it. However, that was not all that was troubling the man in lifting Ameena. He still had a shoulder wound from where he had charged passed the sergeant Thinpas earlier.

Aurek offered the man the contents of the flask, and at first Farel had waved it away. However, upon realising the contents would otherwise go to waste, as everyone else was fully recoevered from their physical sccars at least, then he gratefully accepted. After splashing some on his wound and drinking the rest, he moved his shoulder in delight. "No matter how many times I see the power of the High Lords manifest, I still never truly believe it." The knight bowed to Aurek and Westian.

It was originally a DC20 check, but hey, I figure him straining with Ameena would make it more obvious!

Passin was still a little bewildered by the offer, and apparently had been determined to ignore her. "You all seem to wish to choose worse and worse death," he muttered to himself though, subconsciously thinking on Ameena's question.

Passin seemed bewlidered that Aurek and Westian were genuine in their declarations to let the man go. The comments on goodness seemed lost. Or perhaps not.

Farel had opened the door on the other side of the room leading to the stairs, nodding to the others.

Ameena, at the start of the rest everyone looked for the switch on this side and found it. Umm, or that was the intention... darn I need to re-read this!

Of course, the bewilderment altered to angry shock as Haynuus moved towards him, more bewilderment as Haynuus pushed the man away with a mixture of words and gifts, more anger when he looked at the contents of his hands, and then more bewliderment when he realised he'd actually been pushed through the open door on the other side. The man stood, still holding the set of decorated around, not saying a word and his eyes inscruitable. Helm quickly slammed the button again, and seemed to let out a large sigh of relief when the door span closed, falling in a series of rattling steps.

Ameena, I don't think anyone supports going that way, and Helm will slam the door shut pretty quiockly. If Ameena really does want to go that way, or talk to the soldire longer, roll me a reflexes check to see if she can get under the door in time Indiana Jones style. And remember what might happen if she fails!

The party were down an unwanted guest. Whether their brief time with each other would alter any lives further down the road...that was something only the High Lords could know.

As it was, the party had chosen their path.

Ok, there we go. Tell me any last minute things you want to do first, and then - onwards?

Just to remind you where you are, here's the map again. I might post these in seperate threads moving forward!

The half-orc was satisified with watching the Merchant of Evil standing on the other side of the door with a look of surprise as it began to close.

"Good luck" he said with a smile....

Fuck.

A torch. Humans were so wimpy in these dark environments they didn't have time to give him a light source. The death cultist was about to start a long and painful journey fondling his way through the Grey Lords nether regions. He did his best and attempted to kick the torch lighting the whole room through underneath the closing door, only to leave them all in darkness. "I'll... Get another one shall I? Apologies." And with that he reached into his backpack and pulled another one out. "Here, snap your fingers again to light it please Mr Halfling. I love seeing you do that."

Lol, well done, doing this at work I'd forgot that small fact about lighting... although there is a reason it's not a permanent issue. Or else you would have had Marhman back before now :D And I'm going to assume Falkor will light the torch with his will, since he isn't here today!

OOC - I don't recall anyone pointing out the hidden switch, but Ameena was a bit out of it to begin with so I think she can be excused not really paying attention to that part, if anyone did say anything ;)

BIC - Ameena has no time to continue speaking to Passin before Haynuus more or less shoves him out of the door and it slams shut (though she's too busy staring at it to notice who pushed whatever hidden switch operates it).
"But I didn't want..." she begins, somewhat feebly and, she knows, belatedly.
She slumps back somewhat and stares disconsolately at the door. So, it looks like she's stuck going back through that horrible room again, with these people searching for some kind of apparently dangerous mage who may well try to kill them all. And if he doesn't then she's fairly sure that more than one member of the party will try to kill him.
This really isn't the kind of thing any murafu would voluntarily have anything to do with.
But what can she do?
From somewhere in her mind, the thought drifts into awareness that she also no longer has the herb pouch, having given it to Helm (OOC - Yes, I did also just remember that myself ;)). So it seems as though she may have to endure at least some of that stench again.
But what will happen, she wonders, if the group finds this mage, and Lord, and whoever else they're looking for? They'll still need to get out of this place, won't they, and how will they do that?
Whatever happens, she knows, when this is all over she won't be the same murafu she was before she came to this place. If she survives it, that is. She's never met or heard about a murafu who's been through these kind of situations. Telling the others will be...interesting. But, if she ever sees them again, they'll help her through it all, she knows, even if they don't truly know themselves exactly what she's been through. It's what murafu do - family all, friends all, helping each other through life.
She realises she's still standing there, looking somewhat downcast, staring vaguely at the door, but she can't think of anything much to say or do and doesn't want to face going back to that room just yet, so she keeps still apart from the occasional slow twitch of her whiskers.

Helm seems to see the dispondant look of the murafu, and offers to be the one to carry her.

Ameena looks up at Helm, unsure, really, quite what to say or do.
"Well, yes, I suppose I'd better come with you." she says unhappily. Then she becomes somewhat more nervous. "I think...I mean, I don't have those herbs any more to block out the smell. I don't really have anything..."
Idly, she fiddles around inside one of her pouches.
"Oh..." she says suddenly, as her paw finds something and she remembers what it is. She looks up at Helm's shirt. "I think this may be yours..."
She pulls out the bent button and offers it to him.

OOC - Been wanting to get a chance to give it back to him for ages! :P

It all went dark, for a moment it was silent too - just the slight sound of breathing, but it was quickly replaced by the Orcs request. "Of course" Falkor spoke the words and gestured with his hands - he contemplated clicking some fingers for effect but thought better of it... magic was not a party piece - he remembered that from his first day in class! Just as quick as the darkness had come the light returned.

"Right, when you are ready Ameena we can move on. Will you be coming all the way or will you try to get back through the haze?"

Ameena gives a slightly confused twitch of one ear and partially turns from Helm to look around at Falkor.
"Alone?" she asks, appearing slightly startled by the suggestion. "No."
She gives a slight shiver and turns back to Helm, her mind already becoming distracted by images of dark corridors, a burning human, blood, waving swords, and various other unpleasant images she knows she's likely to see again relatively soon.

Helm looked surprised at the offered button, then realisingit was indeed from his shirt. HE was murmering his thanks when Falkor's question took him by surprise. Although directed at Ameena, it was obvious by Helm's broad reaction and shock that was exactly what he had been planning, though perhaps announcing that fact even upon doing it.

"I want to," said Helm simply. "If there are no undead creatures or Trolins there anymore, there is a way out."

Helm looked embarrassed and ashamed, but said it simply. "Sorry, I do hope you find the cleric. And if you find the mage Fex, punch him from me. But I...there's too much weirdness going on here. I want to leave! If you are going deeper, I will go back through the teleporter."

Edit: Sorry, delayed post.

"Wow! Nice job Falkor, I've always enjoyed watching mages work." said Aurek to the halfling, admiring his magical knowledge.

Then Aurek speaks to Helm, "Helm, are you sure that you REALLY want to go back that way? Haynuus and Ameena said that the soldiers went THAT way. Do you want to risk another encounter with them?"

It seemed that the group was going to break up. Westian could not complain - he was going deeper into the dungeon for his own reasons, he could not ask anyone to come just for his sake.

"Helm, there is no need to apologise. What we have been through, and what we are walking into, well...they are things that no one should have to face. So go with my blessing." Still, a selfish thought popped into Westian's head - he knew that if Helm decided to leave it was extremely likely Ameena would follow. The lure of escape, her closeness to Helm and her disillusionment with the rest of the party would ensure that. That meant that they were to lose both of their thieves in one fell swoop.

Pushing that thought aside Westian pulled out a flask from his back pack and handed it to Helm. "Here, take this, it is a healing potion. If the way out is as clear as you think then it will be unnecessary, and I hope that is the case. But just to be safe. Thank you for your help, and I wish you a long and happy life! Maybe we will meet again when this madness is over."

OOC: Westian handed him an UM VI potion

Ameena nods at Aurek's mention of soldiers going back through the blue thing, then gives a whisker-twitch at his question.
"One soldier came through there, and went back the way we came." she says. "The other one went the other way and seems to have opened up a pit. I gather that that was Drommal, since someone mentioned that he went back through the blue thing too, and I know he wasn't the one who went back the way we came because I saw that one."
She looks up at Helm.
"Going back to where we started might be...tricky." she says. "There are more soldiers there and not many places to hide. And anyway, the door closed. And even if it hadn't, there was nowhere else to go. The room the rest of us woke up in only had...two ways out. One was the one we took. The other was a big metal grate thing which we couldn't move."
Then she turns back to Aurek, gives the back of her neck a bit of a scratch, and looks up at him again.
"As to what you just said...yes, I find this all conpletely confusing. Lots of names, people, talk of violence and fighting. Murafu live to explore and learn, but not of things to do with...with killing, blood, that sort of thing. We prefer life to be more...peaceful. And friendly. I...don't want to go to this mage. It sounds like there will be fighting, whatever happens with him, and...I don't want to see any more."
She gives a small shudder and bows her head, as much to relieve the strain in her neck as to try and avoid the horrible mental picture that keeps resurfacing of Arbrut being hit by the thrown fire.

Haynuus raised an eyebrow to Helm's request to leave. He was going to get mauled by the soldiers unless he knew another way out. "How will you get past the guards, or will you leave via another route? Either way, we all wish you luck my fine fingered friend." He was a little sad to see Helm go, as he was a bit of a... rogue. This time he remembered to slap an unlit torch in the theif's backpack.

He tightened his straps on his armour once more, and readied himself to go. When Westian moves, they all move. He felt so much better and rested too. It was time to get going!

"Yes Ameena, I'm sure you'd find this all too confusing..." Aurek stopped and thought about all that this poor murafu had been exposed to. He decided to try and further explain a few things... "I prefer peace over war. But where you and I differ: I know when I person simply can't be reasoned with, and they have done things that they SHOULD be ashamed of, yet feel no remorse. These are the kind of people that I call 'evil'. They live simply to harm others, whether it be physically or mentally. I am a paladin, or a 'holy warrior'. I am a person who will fight for those who cannot do it themselves. I posses the ability to sense this 'evil', and I know that the mage that we go to face is one such person. Please try to understand what I mean. You can't always run and hide. You can't always talk people down. There are times where you can't just stand by, while other people are getting hurt... sometimes you have to at least try and do something about it. And sometimes, that means picking up a weapon and fighting with everything you've got."

OOC: Ameena, I'm going to try for a diplomacy roll here. I've come to realise that you rather stay IC. That being the case, I'm going to try and convince you the same way I'd convince any other character. I'm just going to find this hard later on... Ameena runs from any conflict (if possible). And we're gonna need her 'on-side'. What happens later on when (with me being a paladin) I go charging off after some 'evil doer'? She's gonna freak out, and hate me for the rest of the game :( (diplomacy 1d20 = 17)

OOC - I know that rolls made in-party are made against a stat of the other person's. I think it's a Will save that is used to decide whether your Diplomacy roll works, but I'm not sure. I'll roll one anyway, but if it turns out that's not what I should be rolling, I'll roll something else instead. Will save = 7 (4+3). If I've done the right kind of roll, that presumably means I'll have to come up with an IC reason for Ameena to be convinced by Aurek's reasoning (at least for now ;)). If not, then maybe Wuffy can tell me what I should roll because I don't know ;).

Gah, I'd just typed up damn update....now I need to see what you rascals have come up with!

Edit: And cool, I'll add my update, which will sort of happen before Aurek's comments

Helm looked awkward as Aurek pointed out the soldiers that could be around. "I'm...I'm sure I'll manage. I loosened my bonds once!" he said in mock good humour looking to Haynuus. "At worst I guess they...well, they'll take me to the mage, and I'll see you again, right?"

Helm looked practically wretched as the cleric was nice about how the thief was deserting the party. He took the flask as if it pained him, not able to look Westian in the eyes. "Thank you. Sorry. Thank you." he mumbled wretchedly.

Ameena and Haynuus's comments again made Helm look awkward. "I don't know another way out...and I know there are soldier. Just..." Helm took a breath. "You heard the soldier." Helm looked to each a little bit misty eyed. "He didn't seem to have hope we'd live if we went further. And I've seen strange creatures inside. And the soldiers don't seem to be afraid of them, and they avoided these creatures of the mages! And I know... I don't think anyone will survive if they go down further."

Helm turned into mumbling again. He darted a gaze across to her. "At least the soldiers are people. After seeing mummies and Trolins blocking the way, I...I'm... I'll figure it out." A pause. "Did you want to leave? We might be able to distract them if we go together. And ...well, I don't think the blocks will be a problem. This place wants to keep people out, there are buttons everywhere to let you get back out ther other way!"

Helm seemed to be waiting to see what Ameena would say, but was obviously ready to move through the teleporting haze. As much awkwardness and embarrassment in the face of the party seemed to drive him above any fear of the soldiers.

Lol, and there you go. You were kinda set to lose a second NPC (depending on party actions) but at least Falkor's direct comments meant it's out in the open!

Last chance to escape Ameena...

And lolo, if Ameena does go.... would Falkor go with them to help and win some favour/prove Helm false? :D

Anyway, that's the official update now - let's see how we can set up for the weekend, shall we? A split party or a determined party (with some lingering thoughts to those NPCs left behind whom the party have influenced in unknwon ways...)

OOC - If Helm's comments are set before Aurek's, I'd better have Ameena responding to them first then...

BIC - Ameena looks up at Helm.
"I don't want to go to this mage." she says. "And...well, it seems to me that you maybe don't want to go alone. Well, I'm sure you know enough of the Murafu by now to know that neither do I. But...how can we get past those soldiers? They're humans - they'll have torches to light their way. If they see us, they'll chase us and there isn't really anywhere to hide back there. If we get past them, then we'll have to open the doors and that would probably get their attention if we didn't have it already. I can't remember how many of them there were."
She pauses a moment in thought.
"Unless you think we can...disable them, somehow? If they notice us. Maybe we can...trap them somewhere, or...trip them over and tie them up. Something like that, perhaps? And then try to escape. Really really fast."
Her whiskers give a slight twitch of mischief, now that she's starting to get into the idea that maybe, just maybe, there's a chance she can get out of here. Get out of here and never come back.

"See, something like that! I haven't thought it through, but see, there are options! I mean...we'll figure something out. The soldiers didn't know about the switches, so if we can trap them at the wrong side of a door behind us, they won't be able to get through anyway."

Helm looks across to Westian, Aurek and Farel. "Of course, I'll make sure they know something is happening! In Viborg I mean. Umm, I mean in here, when we get to Viborg."

Helm looks slightly more hopeful with Ameena speaking, and perhaps a little better for knowing that someone else was deserting the party.

OOC - Bah, don't phrase it like that, lol - "deserting"...Murafu don't "desert" people - they just prefer to let people go their own way if it disagrees with that of said murafu ;).
Ooh, or we could even get all the way out of the dungeon, find that terror and death have somehow been unleashed upon the world from within the dungeon, and come running back in to try and stop it (though preferably with as little bloodshed as possible, preferably none ;)).
Yes, yes, I know, I'm being silly now...ahem...

BIC - Ameena nods slowly.
"That could work, as long as we managed to open and close the doors in time, and didn't get stuck ourselves. There was a trap behind one of them..."
Despite her apparent misgivings, the murafu is feeling more and more hopeful by the moment, as it seems more and more likely that she and her friend may be able to escape this place at last.
"There are always options." she says. "There's always a choice. You never have to do anything. It just...might make you, or someone else, feel bad, or get hurt, depending on your choice."

"Neither of you HAVE to split up from the group. We'd be stronger staying together. If you really wish to go, I won't stop you. But don't do it out of fear of this mage. We've got a mage of our own... AND we have all these useful swords." attempting to add a little humor to the final comment.

"I ...I hope I'm wrong, but...but I don't think you'll succeed. I'm sorry, I odn't want to die in here! I heard what the soldier said too - you don't just have to fight the mage, you had to go down deeper to fight their own priest too!"

Helm shook his head, and took a few steps towards the teleporter, looking to Ameena hopefully. "The soldiers can't always be guarding, they'll have to sleep in watches, or change shifts, or perhaps they'll get ordered away from the door if everything's so messed up!"

Helm nods at the comments on options. "So you'll come?" Helm then looks nervously around. "We should probably go, we might attract attention debating."

Ameena looks up at Aurek.
"It's not the mage I fear, at the moment." she says, almost apologetically, with a deliberate brief glance toward Aurek's sword as though to link this comment with his own.
She gives one more sorry glance around the group (or at least, their legs, with the exception of Falkor - her neck is really getting rather uncomfortable from having to crane up like this all the time). She imagines that she most likely won't see any of them again. Maybe that's best. It had seemed to start out so promisingly, too.
Spotting her cloak still lying on the floor as she looks around, she goes over and picks it up, putting it back on again and feeling just the tiniest bit more secure.
Then she turns back to Helm and looks up at him.
"Yes, I'll come." she says. "But...if you wouldn't mind...just while we go through that room...?"
She reaches her forepaws up to him, somewhat tentatively, to be picked up for the second time in her memory.

OOC - Once she's been picked up, that is, if Helm's not going to be an arse and leave her to walk through all that crap (;)), she'll be on a level with the rest of the group (except Falkor), so she may want to exchange final comments with some of them. Maybe we should now umm...you know, wait for others to post reactions to this exchange, before Helm and Ameena bugger off into the distance, (possibly) never to be seen again (though I'd rather hope they don't escape and I have to reroll, because I really like murafu, and anyway, I've made it to level 4, dammit ;)).

Helm nods, and picks Ameena up. He turns and makes one final nod towards the party, and then turns to leave - preparing to make a run across the areas where Ameena is uncomfortable, to quickly get through the teleporter.

Anyway, sorry for the stream of posts those of you who read this tomorrow! Ameena's right - you have one set of posts you can make as a goodbye, then off she goes.

Lol, just realised money hasn't posted Falkor's reaction since he said the original comment. I think I might let the moment stretch incase Falkor has any words of arguments he wants to throw at Helm or Ameena aswell.

"I bid you both farewell... I hope we meet again, especially under better conditions." says Aurek, followed by a bow.

The half-orc raised his other eye-brow this time at Ameena. She was doing what she wanted at least - getting out. He appreciated her company, her insight and while he'd never met or even heard of a Murafu before he thinks that they are a race you could trust in. She looked so fragile and he never knew how those two would get past the guards yet if you required the subtle approach to a problem they were the ones that would provide you with the solution. Go for it, he thought to himself.

"Thanks..." he said to them for perhaps the last time.

Haynuus, however, was on a different path. The half-orc might not know how he got here, and only knew half the reasons why he was here, yet for the first time in his short life he felt needed and a part of a team. He knew that their objective was to ultimately improve the lives of others, perhaps the futures of thousands of beings depended on them, and it felt good.

"Ready when you are Mr. Westian."

Falkor had heard enough..

That the Theif, spared from almost certain death by this most unlikely group of mercenaries, was ready to run the other way to the detriment of the party was of no surprise. Falkor had taken a dislike to him instantly and he knew this was mutual. He also knew that the thief had little in the way of morals.. most Thiefs do! As for Ameena, he was sad to see her go. He realised that the fight had left her in a fragile emotional state and that if she was to come along she could eventually break down and put the lives of the others at risk... Falkor for one would sacrifice his life to save her, he had no doubt the others would also - so for now perhaps this was for the best for the party and Ameena. Falkor turned to the thief and spoke softly..

"Take care of this Murafu, she is worth many of you - although she would no doubt dis-agree. If you come into battle you must make sure that you protect her from harm - prove me wrong and stand up tall - show that you are a better charactor than i credit you for." With this he knoded gave a small smile and turned to Ameena.

"Ameena, I wish you good luck in your travels. I hope you can find your way back safely and that Helm protects you like a good friend should. We haven't always seen eye to eye and I cannot offer my apologies enough for the emotional scares I have inflicted upon you. I hope one day you will come to understand just why this was important and why, as the palladin explained, evil means can lead ultimately to great peace. I have been thinking, and if you run into trouble and need to return I will leave a trail at each junction showing the way to us. As for your way... from memory the way we came through...."

OOC: Just a quick note, I'll not put in writing direct but Falkor will tell Ammena all he can recall about the route they took to get where they are (As long as thats the way they are going back!!)

BIC: "now take care my friend and good luck." Falkor gave a big smle, turned and prepared himself for the next leg of his journey.

OOC - Lol, did Falkro miss out the part where Ameena basically said she was a thief too, or is he deliberately blanking that part so he can continue to justify being an arse about Helm? ;) And erm...I'm guessing that he says this stuff to Helm before he picks Ameena up...actually, either way she'd probably hear what he says, since before being picked up she's reasonaly close to him in height, and afterwards she's close enough to Helm's ears that she'd hear anything aimed at him from yon halfling down below ;).

BIC - Ameena frowns in puzzled dismay at Falkor's words to Helm. Why does the halfling show her friend such disdain? And why does he seem to think she's incapable take care of herself when she gets into trouble? True, she had a close call with that poisoned creature, but there is no way she could have anticipated such a being even existing, let alone being there, in that place at that time. But she knows, now, to take greater care in future. If anything, it's Helm who may end up needing her help, his human senses not matching her rodent ones. Well, except for eyesight - he can probably see a little better than she can. She should be able to detect possible threats earlier than he.
Then Falkor turns his attention to her. She decides not to mention that she can probably find her way back easily enough by following the group's scent trail and instead focuses on one of his other comments.
"I don't think we'll ever understand each others' ways." she says, a little sadly. "The Murafu have only ever known peace among each other - we don't understand how creatures can fight each other the way they do, because we live so easily together and don't have too much trouble avoiding and moving away from those who might mean us harm."
From the rather strange-feeling position of being in Helm's arms, she can, for once, look around at the group and see all of them (except Falkor) at almost eye-level. Getting a proper view of their faces has mostly been a little tricky up till now, but finally, as she's about to depart, she can see them all so clearly.
"I know we don't really think alike," she says, looking around the group, addressing all of them, "but...I hope that maybe you won't...keep trying to hurt people who mean you harm. I've seen people who talked about how many other people they'd killed, and they were very unpleasant. They seemed to like having caused so much harm. Or they just...fell apart. Maybe the ones who did that had been harming themselves every time they hurt someone."
She gives a small shrug and looks around the group once more.
"I...suppose I won't see you again." she says. "Goodbye, then."
She give a slight bow of her head, a non-murafu gesture she's found can be useful when interacting with those who don't like the usual, more tactile methods the Murafu are used to using.
Then she turns to Helm, her whiskers brushing against his face because of their physical closeness.
"I'm ready." she says softly.

Westian wanted to tell them to stop. He did not want to lose them both, but what could he do? He could not ask them to abandon their hope of escape and join in his search. Even as it was he felt the terrible burden of responsibility of leading the others into a situation from which some or all may not return. He did not vocalise these thoughts, he did not think it would do any good.

"I am sad to see you go. If you change your mind, or if it is impassable or too dangerous, then do not hesitate to follow us. We would welcome you both back with open arms. Sir Farel and Aurek know the route we are going to take, they can give you directions before you leave. You probably could track us anyway, but directions may be useful if the trail has gone cold."

Westian waited while Sir Farel outlined the planned route, at least as far as the cells. Finally he added "Good luck to both of you. If you get out, then tell people what is happening here. Be careful, and may the High Lords smile on you."

OOC: I am assuming Sir Farel will explain the route, if not I can edit my post later

Without further words, Helm departed with the murafu looking over his shoulder. He gave a final angry look to Falkor after Falkor's words, and seemed to avoid the gazes of the rest. The group watched the two moving away - hopefully to find their freedom.

BZZT

With a light discharge of magic, the two were gone.

Sir Farel shifted uncomfortably. He had given directions ot Helm and Ameena on where to go as Westian had suggested, but had otherwise remained silent and contemplative. He cleared his throat and shifted towards the other exit, trying to mantain a respectful silence but clearly ready to move on.

"As I said to your now departed friends, there is not much to this corridor - and there are torch sconces on the wall at decent intervals. We can leave an unlit torch, perhaps, unlit and maybe some scraps of parchment to make our trail. I would hope they find them if they need to find us once more. The t-junction should be further forward."

Sir Farel turns to see how the party plan to assemble themselves, and slots himself into a relevant place. The party then made a move down the new corridor - strange looking even to Aurek and Farle, who had of course walked the oppsite way along it.

The corridor kinked for a few moments then finally decided to go fully 90 degrees to the left, a long stretch of corridor. The party had the time to look around, and see the difference in the stonework here than to the earlier level. Here, the floor had more structure to its stone, slotted together intelligently with very little filler in between. The bricks on the wall were smaller, and tinged with an odd yellow - or at least as far as could be told in the torchlight.

Eventually the corridor turned to the right again, and it was not that many more steps forwards before the party arrived at the T-junction. To the normal sight of the party, there were just two straight sections of corridor left and right. Still, Aurek and Farel knew what the end of the right hand corridor yielded to. For Haynuus and Weastian, then could stretch their sight a little - neither could see an end to the left hand corridor, though both could make out a torch sconce on one of the walls going right.

I'll have Farel make comments, but LB feel free to have Aurek over-ride these with his own comments first, and I'll edit out Farel's comments.

"The cells were right," confirmed Sir Farel. "It seemed to be some form of small library, oddly. Or perhaps a dumping ground for scrolls by those who do not value knowledge." The knight looked nervously to Falkor and Westian. "I suppose there might be writings of use to those of knowledge in there, though to be honest the writing defeated both myself and Aurek. He has some of the more important scrolls in my pack, so perhaps we should not dally om such a place. Especially a place with no exits."

The knight stood looking to the left. Suddenly, the reality of the mage being at the end of any corridor became very apparent. The knight put his hand to his sword.

There we go, decision time. Obviously, you can split the party again :D Otherwise, feel free to retcon any conversations or check if you wish for your journey onwards. Note that you are all mostly in armour, so perception for sounds are probably out unless Falkor goes up ahead.

Speaking of perception checks, can you guys give me one for being at the intersection of the corridors please? :)

If you guys want to move quietly, then you'll have to move at half speed (will that make a difference?) and the check would be a stealth check. If you don't have the skill, that would be a d20 roll plus dexterity. Either way, deduct your armour check penalty (I believe -6 for you plate armour wearers, and 0 for the unarmoured Falkor).

Also, give me a party order, and if you want to suggest a spot for Farel, that will be fine. If nothing else is said, he will be up at the front if there are not enough fighters in the lead, or he'll hang at the back if the 'soft' party members are hanging at the rear. Remember to note who has the torch, unless Falkor is going to break out the light spells.

Not sure what everyone's weekend plans are. Let's say that discussions on what to do next (and any preparations you guys want to have - spells cast, weapons out, party order, checks you will make as standard) in the OOC thread can happen over the weekend, and I won't expect to make an official update until Monday.

Have a good weekend!
