For what it's worth, I got all the references too.beowuuf wrote:Cheddar gorge is like the game, but I imagine it having the weird rules of the Mornington crescent game before too long. I love ISIHAC, funny to hear the first ones where Humph is just introducing it normally, compared to now where he is funnily sarcastic. A cool recent Mornington crescent was where they had a car navigation system helping themplay mornington crescent. Anyway, I digress since I didnt' think anyone would get my reference at all : )
In fact, I have been to see it being recorded a few times (including one of the Christmas specials). Absolutely hilarious. So much stuff that had to be cut for being just that little bit too rude (each recording takes about an hour and a half to edit down to 27 mins). Samantha was great live; I've still no idea how they get away with broadcasting any of that!
Cool, I wish for some of these radio shows they could release full uncut versions on cassette or whatever like ISIHAC or New Quiz, would be interesting!
And yes, if you described the show it might sound a very old fasioned show, but it's downright filthy at times, much worse than anything modern would dare to try to get away with. Must admit, one of my favourite jokes was Lionel Blair trying to enact One man and his dog on give us a clue.

Just got back, cream crackered. 3 hours of hill climbing, the tops hadn't even thawed out in the sun! Could see for miles, saw a blob I thought was the minster and the hills beyond which are nigh on 70 miles away. I took the following pics: amazing what you can get from a phone camera (Nokia 6680 1.3 MP). All halved in sized and 'jpeg'ed.

Yeah, I was quite amazed at the quality too. Camera phones seem to be a lot better at this sort of shot than close ups. I didn't do any jiggery pokery with photoshop either apart from size reduction and compression.
The place I went is called Wharncliffe Crags, about 3 or 4 miles north of where I live in Sheffield. It is one of the best riding spots in the country with XC tracks, DH, trails... the lot. Steve Peat practices there! Some trails are pretty rough, I may have to upgrade to a full bouncer, but the bike pictured above is soooooo light.
Loads of other quality places close by too. Most people seem to ignore South Yorkshire when we think of Yorkshire... but in reality it boasts places with IMO better views than almost anywhere alse in the county and great riding.
