Turn individual party members to face different directions

It might be nice to be able to turn party members independantly, as happens when attacked, and also 'lock' a member to they won't react to attacks. This way you can stop front row people from spinning in multiple combats when trying to take on front attackers. Also, having party members fire spells in the dirtection they face, rather than always forward as happens in DM. So you could face spellcasters backwards to cover a retreat while seeing where you run, or create a protective facing party while trying to work out something infront.

Dungeon Master 2 allows you to turn champions to face any direction, and in my opinion that's one of the many things that BROKE the clean interface of DM.

If it could be implemented in a better way than DM2, e.g. - don't hide the rest of the screen while your turning your champion, then it might work, but I am sceptical.

Oh, all of DM2's 'block the whole screen to do things' approach annoyed me too, i wouldn't have anything intrusive..

I would sugest left button click picks up character as normal, holding the left button down first rotates the character clockwise, then releasing would pick them up, and right mouse would toggle locking the character (indicated by shading or something?)...easy, and above all completely ignorable by purists who don't want to use it.

I forgot about DM allowing that....I didn't play it more than once or twice as the interface just niggled me, and I wasn't playing it on my own machine at the time.

Since gambit was ressurecting a few posts it reminded me about thing
Basically its the locking part - playing the kid dungeon i was spinnign liek a top when surrounded by the gigglers, i relaly wish there was a clean ignorable to other people way of locking the party so tactics didn't go out the window in a hectic fight

Yeah it's annoying in melée combat when your fighters are turning round to face the side but you want them to be hitting the mob in front of you. One slight drawback I can see with suggestion of spells being cast in the direction they're facing rather than straight ahead, is that if you fail to notice your caster has turned, or if you notice but forget, and then attempt to cast, say, Fireball, whilst standing beside a wall...well, hehehe, barbeque heroes, methinks? Lol would be funny though - "Die, Mr Monster!" <casts Mon Ful Ir>
BOOM
"Aaahh" (death scream thingy)

I can live without the firing in facing direction, but the lock might be nice : )
Even if its only a keyboard shortcut - 'l' locks your party, thye can't individucally spin, and a mask like slight shading covers the party

S'funny, I've never found the auto turning to be a problem! I guess years of playing DM have honed my peripheral vision well enough to spot when it happens and i'm quick enough on the 'drop' to get them back the right way.

I agree though that it would be a nice-to-have option!
