General v0.05

The lighting block for total darkness still doesn't blend (although it is really good to otherwise, less obvious...maybe my gamma is too high, I don't know how everyone else sees it).

Creatures appear to not block other creatures from coming onto the tile when they are centred.

I don't know if it is a bug (depends on how people like it) but stats seem to restore quite fast, while potions seem to be less effective (i like this second part as long as higher spels more effective).

items still don't 'stick' in creatures (at least not throwing stars or clubs in the first mummy).
It could be my computer but the sound for opening the first door lasted too long (hehe you know you have a great product when the complaints get that nitpicky)

ps This one works George :) just skip even numbered releases ok? <p> <a href="http://www.icq.com/icqtour/webcomm.html"><img alt border="0"src="http://online.mirabilis.com/scripts/onl ... e.gif"></a> AMAPROTU

About the sound on the first door, it must be my computer, I ran it again and it was fine.

Great job!!

The lighting thing is tricky - on top of the natural shading of the graphics, everything one step away is dropped by 50% and everything two steps away dropped by 75% - three or more 100%. It's probably impossible (with the DM engine) to do it any smoother than this as it would require refinements on a sub-tile level, a concept which doesn't exist in EM! Also the perspective of the walls would have to be taken into account and this is determined by the bitmaps of the walls and not internally - adding to it could be tricky...

The sticking thing does work (I hope) but I don't think I enabled it for mummies; just the monsters that were mentioned in the previous post suggesting it (screamers, rock monsters and slime things). If they stick in mummies too then I've just got to change one bit in the mummy definition to include them. If they don't stick in screamers either - that's a bug!

Beowuuf, you're gamma is waaaaaaayyy to high!

I didn't have a clue what you were talking about (lighting block?) until I upped the brightness on my monitor and saw the effect. With my monitor at a normal, natural level of brightness, black appears black, and the effect that you speak of cannot be seen. If you're playing RTC and other games with your brightness too high, I would suggest that you're seriously destroying the atmosphere as everything probably appears 'washed out'.

My monitor is old and has a nasty green shift...my colouring/lighting atm makes it as unnoticable as possible (as long as I don't check out a better monitor) and things like DM and Half-Life look fine, but I guess in this case it shows up. I'm glad that it's just me then, because it's a nice effect to block los in total darkness.

Om a similar vein, I find that sometimes starting RTC the lighting level is one step above what it should be, everything looking way too bright. If I alt-tab out of RTC and go back in, then all is fine (v0.00 had a slightly worse thing where lots of features like mirrors and explosionswere blackened out until I did this). Does this just sound like my comp set-up or has anyone else found this too?
