2 types of reincarnation

In CSB reincarnation divided HP, Stamina and mana by 2. I guess you'll have to propose 2
different kind of reincarnation when designing a dungeon.

I didn't know that! I'm reluctant to have two types but maybe some formula which closely mimics it is the way forward. Say new stat = old stat / 2 + 30 which would give virtually no change for stats of about 50 (like DM typically has) and would approximately halve those from CSB?

Obviously different scalings would have to be applied for mana and the like, but you get the idea.

What do people think, or should it be left as it is (even if it isn't like CSB).

Customisability is fun

Hmm, why not have a (designer set) fudge applied to reincarnation? So CSB can be programmed to have that /2 fudge, DM remains as normal, and any new dungeons can have new ones. And these fudges can be on anytyhing - attribute stats and main stats. So you could have a dungeon where the reverse of normal reincarnation appies if you wanted - abilities are lowered but main stats (health, stamina and mana) go up to compensate.

Actually, CSB quarters those three stats, not halves, so they are further reduced! I assume this was to make the dungeon even harder for very experienced Dungeon Masters.... This means that most characters starting from the prison will be on similar stats to the characters starting in Dungeon Master. Seems mighty unfair if you ask me...

Personally, with RTC having a difficulty rating already, any fudging seems pointless. I think it would be better to keep the DM model of reincarnation, even if it does make it different from the original CSB.

You can take this customisability stuff too far!

50% or 25%?

Curious, I was pretty sure about the 50%...
Maybe Amiga and Atari versions are not the same?
Anybody can check it?

I think a unique formula for reincarnation, as George
proposed, would be fair. In particular in we put some
customized characters.

Left as is...
