Savings games interface, v0.09
Posted: Sat Apr 14, 2001 1:22 am
category: difference from DM
type: interface/functionality
Description:
Once the Save Screen was displayed in Amiga DM, there was an interim screen after clicking the 'Save' button that simply said 'Saving...' before the 'Game saved' screen appeared. I think this should be integrated into RTC as the delay in saving a game is quite significant and it appears that nothing is happening... this screen wasn't required in PC DM as the save was so quick...
The Amiga saving screen had four options instead of three 'Save and Play', 'Save and Quit', 'Format Floppy' and 'Cancel'. Could RTC have 'Save and Play', 'Save and Quit', 'Quit without saving' and 'Cancel' or do you think that's too much?
The graphic for the Saving screens has some parts missing on the left hand side.
Ctrl-S should not save automatically - it should bring up the Save dialog box. Or if you want to leave it as a 'quicksave' feature, then you'll definitely need a 'Saving game...' screen as it looks like the game has crashed.
Ctrl-S should be disabled while saving, otherwise it tries to save again - which results in multiple 'Saved Game' messages.
