Hint Oracle and restarting Save Games

Would it be possible to add a third option to the end screen after you die? Currently, there are 'restart' and 'quit' options. It would be really great to have a third option 'return to dungeon entrance' - this would hugely cut down on the amount of quitting and restarting that one has to undergo when playtesting, etc.

In the future, I think this will be essential for testing things like Hint Oracle hints. If you don't want to add it as a permanent option, perhaps it could be a 'debug' option that can be added to the init file?

It's a memory trade off. Currently to save memory after you enter the dungeon RTC destroys all the bitmaps it knows it's not going to need again. This includes things like the intro sequence, entrance graphics, utility tablet, hint oracle etc.

I could hang on to them all, but it would have a knock on effect. I'll have to think about this...

RTC load time is now so minimal that couldn't the 'return to dungeon' option actually start again erasing all bitmaps and reloading after the logo? I agree, it's annoyign to have to quit, wait, reload game again to use hint oracle, and the same with playtesting...definitely a restart rtc option would be nice...

hmmm

don't you only need the same options as the dungeon entrance?

you don't need to display the entrance again for that..

in the bottom right you could have little icons for those
disks for load , the red X for quit, a book for the oracle, and perhaps a green gem for the restart from the beginning.
